United KingdomLondon Medical - Knightsbridge Doctors

They happily gave a copy of the DS-3025 to my fiance without him even asking, but I had warned him ahead of time to ask for it in case they didn't automatically give it out! Good luck!

Thanks, that's good to know! I'll update with our experience once he's had his medical.

Could anyone who's already had their medical exam tell me if they are cool about giving you a copy of the DS 3025 once they've complete it? My fiance has his medical next week and I was just wondering if it was likely that they would give it to him. Thanks!

United KingdomPeople between NOA2 and Interview ~2009~
Hello Everyone! I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question or not (is there a similar thread but now for 2010?)

Anyway, we just got our NO2 last week and then a letter from NVC today saying that they have our packet and will be sending it on to London soon! I want to start preparing our papers for packet 3 but am getting a little confused as to what we need to be sending, here's the info I've got at the moment...

1. Document Checklist IV-15K
2. DS-230-I Part1 Signed
3. DS-156 (in duplicate) (Fill out online to generate barcode)
4. DS-156K (in duplicate) Do not sign
5. DS- 157 (in duplicate)?
6. DS-2000?

Does this look right to you guys that have put together a packet 3 recently?
I think I understand the first four, but definitely not the last two! What is and where can I find a DS-157 and DS-2000??

Thanks so much for your help!

Well, my fiance, like a lot of others withe a June 8th interview, got a call from the embassy about re-scheduling his interview ... and now it is on June 1st! Yay no increase

How lucky! Congrats!

Guess that I'll be paying 35 quid and starting work late that day then! I usually get to work for 8am.

My fiance had his visa delivered to his work address and then just made sure he was at work between 8 and 6 (which I think are the hours they told him). They didn't seem to mind what address you want it to be sent to.

Hmm, I was all up for doing it until a friend mentioned, would that not look funny when you enter the country with the K1 visa...

I think if they ask you about it you can just tell them you bought a return because it was the cheaper option. They probably see that a lot. I hope so anyway because that's what we're doing!

My fiance's at the Dublin airport, taking off in less than an hour. Even though he's flying Continental, his gate didn't allow for immigration in Dublin. Instead, he'll be POE'ing in Newark. Strange. I'm glad I didn't fill out the POE line on all my AOS forms yet.

Oh, I'm not nervous or excited at all.

Hey guys! Sorry I can't contribute much to the topic of self-sponsoring, but I did want to say that my fiance bought his one way plane ticket today!! His interview is on June 8th, and his arrival in the USA is June 25th!! Should be plenty of time

Very exciting! We bought a plane ticket today as well, and for the same week. Good luck with your interview!

Congratulations to all of you guys with approvals! So exciting to see all the little gold stars showing up from Sundrop!

Our visa was delivered today, it feels great to have it in hand. Though somewhat surprisingly they didn't check ID like they said they would, it was being delivered to an office building and they just dropped it of at the front desk which doesn't seem that secure, but oh well, at least we have it!

Did you contact them about sending the packet without the checklist or did they return it to you?

We had everything for packet 3 ready to send back but had not yet received David's long form birth certificate in the mail so we didn't feel comfortable signing the checklist saying we had everything we needed for the interview. We decided to send in the forms to get the ball rolling and then just send on the checklist once we had received the birth certificate. We didn't contact them about this but we did include a cover letter explaining that the checklist would come at later date.

Thanks for the support Anwesha! He said he was asked for our I-134 papers and handed them over at the first window and then was not asked any further questions about them so I guess the sponsor and co-sponsor info we gave them was enough.

Delivered on a Saturday! Four days before the courier said they'd deliver! No ID required! Weird.

By the way, you might want to tell your fiance about the brown "do no open" packet. I mentioned it to mine last week, and he said if I hadn't mentioned it he might've opened it - it's not labeled very obviously!

So happy!

That's great news, congratulations!

Good advice about the brown envelope too, I just assumed they would label it as do not open but I better let my fiance know.

How do you check with the DOS if it's been logged?

You call 202-663-1225. Then press 1 and then 0. Just tell them you'd like to check on the status of a visa case and they will ask for your case number and both names. They should then be able to tell you whether or not the packet 3 you sent back has been entered into the system yet. Good luck!

Thought I'd lighten the tone a little by asking if anyone had received their packet 4 from the embassy there seems to be quite a few that should be sent out shortly! Thanks for everyones input on what we should or shouldn't have for the interview, I spend hours on this site and I just hope I manage to have everything I need for the big day. Here's to us all hearing something soon.

Nope, nothing yet. Our packet 3 was signed for on March 16 so it's been about a month now. I've been calling DOS about once every 2 weeks just to check on our case. Hopefully lots of interview dates will start coming out of London soon!

A quick question for you guys. On the readiness checklist one of the items requested is a "notarized statement." We're both in the UK at the moment so we took our statements around to a family friend who is a solicitor (lawyer) and he witnessed our signing them and wrote a brief statement at the bottom and then signed himself. He is not a notary public though. Are they very picky about this at the embassy? Do you think a solicitor witnessing is adequate or do we need to find ourselves a notary public somewhere? Thanks!

Great News Miss Jess

Medical - I'm confused now. How does it work? How do they know before you come who your GP is to know your medical history in the first place? Do they take note of that when you make the appointment, then, contact your GP directly before you come for the appointment? Or, do they just take people at their word about their medical history? Is that really the case? I find that astonishing. Am I being dumb again?

My fiance had his medical about two weeks ago and it all went really smoothly for him. As far as I know they do not contact your GP unless there is an issue. They didn't ask him for his GPs name. For us it was fairly straightforward as he had answered "no" to all the questions (have you been hospitalized, ect.), but if you answer "yes" to any of them that's when you need to provide further details, possibly including letter from your GP or hospital records. So in answer to your question it seems they take people at there word about this information.

And congrats Miss Jess on having that step done with!

Apologies if I have caused panic on the streets of London!
I have just gone back and checked what I was reading on DOS site. It appears I got side tracked over the new DS 160 form, which replaces the DS 156. As the DS 156 is one of our forms, I thought this was another update we had to be aware of, but no, this one definitely states "excluding K1 fiance visa applications". I then got this confused with the info for the DS230, which I had originally gone on the site to check. Talk about having a "senior moment"!

Thanks for the input, I have now achieved the desired state of clarity. Am now ready to rock n roll with the joys of packet 3.

No problem! I know how it is, so easy to get confused and start second guessing yourself in this process. Good luck with the rest of your packet 3 stuff!

Hi Kristin

Good to know you finally did receive the packet 3 letter. 8 days later! NVC tells me mine was sent out on 12 March, so I will expect it next week. On the subject of the form DS 230 - what version did you guys use? Did you use the new version as discussed on this thread? http://www.visajourn...5

It says it does not apply to K1 applicants, but it's not crystal clear. I'm confused. Is it just me?

Hey!

Great news that your packet 3 is on the way! Hope it gets to you quickly!

We did use that version. It is the one that the embassy provides here http://www.usembassy...a/iv/iv_15.html so I think it must be the one they want. Where does it say it's not for K1?

My finace was told that i shouldnt book the medical until we recieve package four? I have already booked mine and its next week (what can i say im eager to get things done and over with) has anyone encountered a problem with going for the medical too early?

Also, if packet three has been sent, is it really worth waiting for it to arrive or can i just go ahead and send them the forms? is there anything in there that is likely to trip me up if i dont wait to recevie it? I am 100% sure i know exactly what i need to send.

We had a similar situation. We had everything ready for packet 3 and we knew the embassy had mailed it a few days earlier so we went ahead and mailed it back before actually receiving it (we ended up receiving our letter it in the mail later that day). But I don't think there's a problem with that as long as the letter's on the way.

As far as the medical, we have ours booked too, for next week. In the the packet 3 letter it says to go ahead and book a medical so I don't see why you'd have to wait for packet 4, seems weird that they would have told you that.

We just booked our medical today! You can call Knightsbridge Doctors at 020 7486 7822 (9am-5pm). We found out from DOS that our packet 3 has been mailed but we have not received it yet. All they wanted to know when my fiance booked was his name and case number, LND..., that was it, and he's going in two weeks on March 24.

Hope that helps!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat does the petitioner need to do / get from ‘packet 3’?

Hey!

You got it all right.
The DS-157 is just another supplementary info about beneficiary - previous employments, list of all educational establishments, any military service.

The link to download all the forms is here

http://www.usembassy...a/iv/iv_15.html

I just noticed your petition was sent to NVC same day as mine. I just got off phone to NVC and they informed me my case was sent to London last Wednesday 3 March, so hopefully, yours was in the same batch as mine.

I can't imagine what it must be like doing any of this without the info on VJ, and for the marvellous comradary along the way!

Thanks for the link!

And that's great news about your case being on it's way to London!!! Also, I think I know what we are to SEND in after packet three based on reading this.... http://london.usemba...processing.html

The things that actually get mailed to the embassy are these, right?

1. IV -15K (checklist)
2. DS-230-I Part 1
3. DS-156 (2 copies)(fill out online to generate barcode then print)
4. DS-156K (2 copies)
5. DS-157 (2 copies)

Does this look right to you guys??
And does anyone know where I can find the DS-157 form (or what it is for that matter!)?

And the other stuff is not to be sent but just brought in at the time of the interview...I think?
-police certificate
-birth certificate
-I-134 (affidavit of support and evidence)
-photos

Thanks do much for all the advice and information you guys have provided here on VJ, we wouldn't have gotten this far without you all!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion about I-134

I probably should have addressed this too but parents (plural) cannot sponsor. One parent can and should be careful to state only their personal income, not joint income from two people. Document the income with the complete tax return with all schedules an forms.

Kristin&DavidFemaleUnited Kingdom2010-03-10 00:03:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion about I-134

My USC fiancee was unemployed through the entire process. Her mother offered to be our co-sponsor for the I-134s for the visa interview, and our joint sponsor for the I-864s for AOS.

At the interview I had to submit a fully documented and filled out I-134 from each of them. In my AOS packet I had to include a fully documented and filled out I-864 from each of them. Even though my now-wife's forms had very little information on them (mostly 0's, due to a lack of recent income) I still needed full forms from her for both the visa interview and AOS.

At no point in the process did USCIS show the slightest interest in my income or assets. Your sponsor and/or co/joint sponsor must qualify on their own.

Note: the required documentation for the I-864 is a superset of the required documentation for an I-134. At the visa interview you only need I-134(s), but you should include copies of all of the requested documentation for the I-864 as well. In addition to making your evidence of support rock solid in the eyes of the consulate, this will save you time and effort when AOS time comes, as you will already have gathered all of that documentation.

For question 7, for my wife, we just put "n/a" in the text fields, 0 for the income, and other numbers in the property and other fields as applicable.

Thanks so much HeatDeath! Sounds like your situation was very similar to ours so it's great to hear that you didn't run into any problems! Now off to work on an I-134.....

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this question...

If I am unemployed do I need to submit an I-134? If so what should I say for question #7?

I'm living with my parents at the moment, they meet the requirements for support and are more than happy to sponsor my fiance, should they submit the I-134 instead of me or in addition?

Also, my fiance has a good income and lots of savings of his own, are they interested in hearing this at the interview (London embassy) or is it only a matter of having a US sponsor?

Thanks for your help everyone :)
