ThailandRepost: Thailand question

My fiance has a really messed up controlling family. If they find out that he is leaving, it may be over for us. My question is: Can his grandparents legally screw up this process? He is 21 years old, but he lives with them and they have connections to the government. Also, would it be a bad idea to warn the government that will try to ruin our case if they do find out? Would the government look down on this?

My family is 100% behind me, but his would not approve of anyone for him.

I would say, I have a very controlling family too. I really mean "Control," I can't even have a bf or "male" friends when I was in High school either or in college or I can't go shopping without one of my family members. 18 years old teenagers in America think that they can do ANYTHING they want but nope not for my family...18 means NOTHING. I have to wear certain clothes that they are ok with. Basically if you still live under their roof then you must follow their rules. I am from Thailand but I married in America when I was 23; got Bachelor's degree and got a job but still I had to ask for my family's permission. Since then they are not controlling my life anymore because now they know that I am mature enough to live my own life.

For my opinion, 21 years old for me is really young. I think it is time for him to sit down and speak with his grandparents explaining what, why, and when he wants to leave. He can't just leave without letting them know, that is "unexceptionable and unrespectful" for most Thai ppl. Thai government has nothing to do with your case.

I have my GC on me at all time. One time in GA, I was stopped by a police officer at the check point, I only showed him my DL card and it was all good. The police officer never asked for my GC. However, I still want to have my GC on me at all time anyway because you never know when you gonna need it.

Hello Everyone. For those VCS filers who already got approved.. Did you get a mail or electronic announcements? If you got mail, was it mailed from the local office or VSC? Also for those who got RFE's, how far after filing you got them?

Thanks and regards

Hello, I got my approval letter in a mail from St. Alban, VSC. I never got an email or txt from them even tho I signed up for it but today I received 3 emails at the same time from USCIS letting me know that they ordered my new greencard on Feb 13rd and it had already been mailed to me yesterday; Feb15th. Also my status on USCIS website was updated today to be approved, yesterday was "Initial Review". It took us 245 days total since we filed I-751.

Good luck to you. ^^

Any further word? I was just thinking of you and wondering. I hope you found out some positive information,

Thank you Brijo, I called and spoke with a supervisor on August 16th. I told him my situation and he explained just exactly same thing as the previous cutomer service I spoke with before on August 11th. But this time I insisted to put another service request and he did it for me. I haven't heard anything from them since, no reply email...nothing.

He also said I should email USCIS headquarter on August 31st if I still don't receive my BIO appointment.

I really don't know what to do.

This is not pleasent
Did you try to escalate your case to talk to a supervisor or something?
Seriously, customer service are doing nothing but reading the little they have on screen.
Try escalating, and update us.
Good Luck

I think I will try again tomorrow. I have been so busy working 2 jobs, so I haven't had a chance to give them a call (again) yet. Thank you for your advice tho.

I hope you hear something soon. I also would INSIST to speak with the supervisor, and to call them daily until I would hear something positive.

Thank you very much, I will try again tomorrow.

My update is.... it has been 61 days and I still don't receive my BIO appointment. 30 days ago I called to put a service request and the person told me that I should call back in 30 days if I still don't receive the appointment. So today(day 61) I called USCIS customer Service again and was told that nothing they can do, the only option for me is to wait and if I want to make another service request, I have to do it by myself.

so frustrating right now.

:(

31 days have passed, I still don't get my ASC appointment. I called NCSC and they emailed me this

"The status of this service request is:

Our records indicate that your biometrics appointment is pending due to limited capacity at your local Application Support Center (ASC).  We will schedule an appointment for you when a time becomes available at the ASC and mail you an appointment notice.  We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience."

Well, I guess nothing else I can do except waiting......

Orlando immigration office must be really busy :(

Still no bio appointment letter for us... and our case is still not found online on uscis.gov either so there is no way I could at least give a tiny bit of update on our case . :(

Don't be upset, I am still waiting on my bio appointment also, my receipt date on NOA is 06/10/2011..... I called USCIS, they told me it could take us 30 days to get it. If not, call them again.

Well I cant fault the USCIS for the promptness of there reply to my service request. I received an e-mail some 3 hours later which included the following.

"U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records indicate that your biometrics appointment is pending due to limited capacity at your local Application Support Center (ASC). Once an appointment becomes available and you are scheduled, you will be mailed an appointment notice informing you of the date, time and location of your appointment. USCIS apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates your patience."

I guess I just have to wait, seems strange that there is such a delay in Orlando seeing that they have recently moved into a nice new bigger building ???

Hi there! My local service office is also at the Orlando one. For me, it has been 32 days already waiting on ASC appointment. I called NCSC and got the same email as you did. I am getting impatient at this point.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMilitary Spouses - May 9th
QUOTE (KipandSarahJayne @ May 9 2008, 07:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I thought I would post this in both spouse forums as some CR1/IR1 filers don't wander into the K3 forum.

Today, May 9th is Military Spouse Appreciation Day, and I would like to share the email I received from the base I'm affiliated with, with all the military spouses on this website .... as it is also a thankyou to you guys too.

"MILITARY SPOUSE APPRECIATION DAY IS FRIDAY, 9 MAY!

For the times you've stood and watched a ship sail from the harbor, an aircraft disappear into the clouds, or a truck convoy pull out of sight, not sure when they would return, we thank you.

For the countless household moves you've made from a place you know to one that's strange and different -- often by yourself -- we thank you.

For the families you've held together, for the anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays you've celebrated alone, we thank you.

For the hand you've extended to another military spouse when the need was there, truly creating a military family, we thank you.

For the spirit and strength you've shown when your service member has gone into harm's way, we thank you.

For the pride you've displayed while serving as an ambassador of the military spouse to the rest of the world, we thank you.
"

I thought this was a wonderful email to receive today, and brought a tear to my eye; I wanted to share it with all of you.
To all of you going through this visa journey to be with your loved ones .... stand strong! ..... this is only beginning, and you know in your heart, that it's not forever.

However, if possible, just for a moment today, those who are reading this who are not married to a serviceman/woman could you please just spare a thought for those who are married to the military ..... you may be depressed about the length of time this process is taking, but the military spouses will go through this separation possibly many times during their marriages.

There are also many spouses on this website who are not only going through this process but they have spouses deployed in war zones. Army and Marines deploy currently for 15 months .... some do back to back deployments.
None of us have a choice in who we fall in love with.

They don't have the ease of access to simply call their Husbands/Wives ..... or see them on webcams every night .... or to jump on a plane when they have vacation time ..... or sometimes even know where their Husband/Wife actually is ..... or simply have the peace of mind that their loved ones will even come home in one piece.

So, please join me today in saying an extra special 'thank you' to those who's spouses are currently deployed (or about to be) and are separated from the basic comforts of technological support, while their Husbands/Wives put their lives on the line so that we can enjoy our freedom.

And to those spouses, may God protect your loved one and bring him/her home safely.

Hi,
I'm Pui, my husband is on duty service and he is in Iraq (war zone) right now. I'm not an U.S citizen, I'm going to apply the I-130 shortly. He has 11 more months to go, this is so tough really. My hubby always told me to be strong and I am..I am a US military spouse..I'M STRONG. I won't let him see how actually weak I am sometimes. What can I do is just pray for you and you husband or wife to be safe.

Have a good day.

You are not alone my lovely, there's quite a few military spouses on this website good.gif so, please don't feel sad.
We have our own little thread too, the link is in my signature .... Military Spouses Thread.

As you haven't filed your I-130 yet, there's a couple of options, the latest one was posted on the thread by Marine Babe, using Direct Consular Filing (due to deployment) even though her husband was not living in her country. So, there's more than one possibility for your situation .... the DCF doesn't come with a guarantee but if it works it could be very fast.
Please read her super posting on the thread. I think it's about 3 pages towards the end.

If this doesn't work, then there's the military expedite option available via USCIS too.
We are here to help, so if you have a question just post it on the military thread and I'm sure one of us will get back to you soon.

Do keep in contact with us all, as we understand what you're going through.

Big hugs for you
Sarah x

Thank you Sarah, I feel really sad but now I know that I still have someone especially in this site is helping me. I'm just confused and scared of everything that I'm going through sometimes.

Have a good day.

Hi everybody, I hope you guys have a super day.
I got married with an american on 25th of April 2008, my hubby right now is in service; he is in the army and now he is working in Iraq. I had to come back home; thailand, till he comes back to States which is on May or April next year. I lived in the US for 1 year with a J1 visa. The J1 visa required me to stay at my home country for 2 years. Right now I've applying for a J1 waivers 2 years rules and as well I was planing on applying the K3 visa after I get approved the waiver one but I've been reading and looked up online about it and now I'm confused about CR1/IR! and K3. I think I know how it is different but I'm just by myself and I don't know where I should start.
