US Embassy and Consulate Discussionk-1 visa denied! Help............
So sorry to hear your bad news. But yes,,,,,I agree with the other members that you should "appeal" if you are now fully employed and have a good income. Otherwise you would have to start the entire process over again at a later date.

Good Luck to you both,,,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs there an expiration on Thailand Doc's?

Joe,

The interview is more than 2 months away. In the recent past the time between the consulate recieving both DS-230-I and the signed checklist certification has been 2 months (used to be 3 months). I don't know how fast the CSC is going 'on average' these days, and there's no way of knowing how quickly your petition will be completed until it has been, but it's possible that the interview is as much as 6 months or so away.

And if the consular officer processing Pim's visa application wants a new police certificate or medical exam, they'll tell her.

Yodrak

My Thai fiance already had her medical check done, and police background check completed. I am concerned there could be an "expiration" on her doc's if the interview is still possibly 2 or more months away. We just received our NOA1, so we are just starting the K1 process. But we wanted to get as much done in advance as is possible to speed things along. Comments?

Thanks Yodrak for your helpful information! We will brace ourselves for a long wait!

Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know that my fiancee picked up her visa from the embassy today. The interview went very well except for a problem with one of her documents. When she initially turned in the documents before her interview, she was told she needed to bring a document proving she has custody of her son to the interview. We discussed whether we should have that document translated, but according to the instructions they sent her, it said "All documents must be translated into English except if in Indonesian language". Since this document was over 20 pages long, I advised her it should be ok as it is. Obviously, it was not, even though their instructions said that it was. So, I guess every embassy is different but my advice would be to get ALL orginal documents translated to English, even if the instructions tell you different.

Anyway, that being said, my fiancee should be arriving at JFK the end of March  Thanks for everyone's help in here. We couldn't have done this without you  Now, I'll be moving to the AOS section.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBeginning K1 Visa process

Hello everyone. Just want to say this is an incredible website. I've got some good information from here so I figured I better do whats right and get my timeline out there. I'm sure I'll have tons of questions. Were waiting now for her to send to me her documents. We should have done them when I was in Omsk, Russsia but we were having too much fun. :D

Hello and glad to have you join VJ! The information you gain here is very valuable. The members have helped Pim and me considerably since our K1 was filed! Good Luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidences for K-1

I just submitted my I-129F packet. I enclosed a mound of evidence, including color copies of letters with envelopes/stamps, phone bills, calling card account with call detail, chat logs, screen captures of chat and Skype sessions, emails, text messages. All told I probably had 50 pages of evidence. Now I'm worried -- do you think it will look too "staged" with all of that? Did I go overboard?

Thanks in advance folks.

3AD

I think it is always better to have "too much" info as compared to "not enough"! Our packet was submitted in a notebook binder, with plastic cover sheets for easy handling, complete with detailed cover sheet, photos with descriptions and dates on back,,,etc. I also went ahead and notarized my letter of intent, all financial Doc's, tax returns, phone bill records, and copies of my airline tickets and hotel receipts! On the last page I even included several extra "passport style" photos of both of us, just in case they might be needed!

Good Luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is wrong with NSC???

I just checked the NSC dates. It still hasn't changed!!! I don't think it has moved from Dec 21 in the last 2 updates!! Have they all taken a vacation or something??!!

YES it is quite frustrating when the processing dates do not move with the "update". California has not moved in the last 3 updates, but prior to that it jumped a month and a half in one swoop! So lets hope they are catching up! (I wonder why some of the workload is not sent to the Vermont office to help out?)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalifornia Center catching up?

Just saw one of our members with a California K1 NOA1 date of Jan 21st and a NOA2 of March 17th! That is GREAT news! The fiance is from the UK. Maybe the rest of us will start to hear good news very soon as well?

Joe & Pim

I have to see that for myself, where did you see it? I am to excited to try and find it myself

OK ok i had to search for it...the excitement got to much and yes there it was, still cant believe it. Do they go from the NOA1 date or from when they receive the application?

I believe they go from the NOA1 date. My NOA1 date is January 4th and my application hasn't even been touched besides the initial check cashing. I wonder what is going on? How come apps from the later part of the month are getting approved but not the early part of the month? Please CSC, give us more good news!!!

Yes we know what you mean! We have not received a "touch" notice either!? I am glad you did find the member NOA2 posting I was talking about! Perhaps the backlog is starting to catch up? We can only hope!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThis case has been approved

Well, here it is, folks. Directly from USCIS online as of 21 March 2006:
----------------------------------------------------------
Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status:

This case has been approved. On March 21, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.
-----------------------------------------------------------
as for the specifics of my case:

Contrary to what some may have stated here, sending in lots of picts wasn't the clincher in my case. I submitted only one poor, dark photo of me and fiancee together. The room was poorly lit, and I didn't use the focus on my camera very well. But in fact this was never an issue for the RFE.

RFE did ask for additional evidence, though.

True, I didn't keep the Cubana airline ticket stubs for evidence, just my connections from a 'gateway' airport.

I did have other circumstantial evidence that I used to submit when RFE was sent. The church bulletin from Havana, which I saved when I went to the local church there, it had the date on the front, this was probably very helpful because it would have been difficult to forge this (Cuban paper stock is typically unique in itself). Moral of story: it's probably a good idea of visit a church while you are there in the host country of your fiancee, keep the church bulletin for future evidence. Especially if there are dates on it.

I also had my fiancee send me a statement from her friend attesting to my presence on the dates I specified on the application. Didn't hurt, either.

As a last resort, I resubmitted some old emails and copies of a airline connection flight and also some emails from company I originally bought the ticket from.

I guess a lot of worrying with the RFE is gone now. Although we still have a lot of hurdles to pass, fees to pay, the interview, English lessons, ect, ect., I am now able to focus on the reality of our life together here.

Certainly this site has been helpful, although I was never discouraged by the wannabe lawyers out there.

Thanks again in any case. Hope to keep the timeline updated.

YES INDEED THE CALIFORNIA CENTER MOVES VERY SLOW. However, as I have posted before, there are several members going thru the CSC that have a January NOA1 and have already received their NOA2's. As to the Dec 31 processing date, don't quote me, but I think the Web Page update is every other Tuesday. It seems to be at any rate.
