United KingdomTax Transcripts for Interview
Hi guys.

As above, just notarise the I-134. We somehow managed to forget the IRS forms for the interview, but it was no problem - my baby sent them out from California express delivery, I was able to phone up the courier company a few days to arrange pick up of my passport and the missing papers. It cost me an extra ten quid on the postage (and a slight delay in the arrival of the Visa) but it came this week. Don't worry too much, it's a breeze. The worst thing is being sat there waiting for your number to come up on the board. It took me about two and a half hours in total (half an hour waiting outside and about two hours inside). The people in the cubicles are totally laid back. The only thing you have to stress about is making sure you find a bag big enough to take your large X-rays (which you will receive at the Embassy) and the chunky sealed envelope of Visa papers in your hand luggage at the airport. Job well done, guys. You're almost there.

Good luck for the future.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question for you all..........Before Megan arrived here last week we got her 1-134 and letter of intent notarised. Along with the I-134 for her step father who is co-sponsoring us. She didn't have the transcripts from the IRS to bring with her so her mother sent them out to us and should arrive in the next couple of days. My question is though is that upon receiving Packet 3 it says that the last year's transcripts should be notarised. Is this correct or are the ones direct from the IRS ok??? We are just a little concerned and can re-order them online is needs be. Thanks!!!!!

Good Morning;

ONLY the I-134 (the Affidavit of Support) should be NOTARIZED (not the tax transcript)...okay.

United KingdomObtaining US passport photos
I got mine from the usual passport photo booth in my post office in Barry, Wales. They didn't have any problem with them when I had my interview and I received my K1 Visa this week.

United KingdomBritish Citizenship For My American Wife
Hi guys.

I know this is a long way off for us as we're getting married in a few weeks and yet to go through the AOS process, but we were both wondering if we would have to go through the same tiresome process again if we both moved back to the UK. Would we have to apply to the UK Border Agency or to the British Embassy here in the Los Angeles, what forms would be required and would it be easier for me to get dual citizenship first (I believe I can apply 3 years after my arrival, which was September 2008) before my wife does the same? I understand that there would be similar conditions (there would be a two year probationary period, for example) but just wonder what visa would be required and to whom would I apply such an application.

Kind regards.

Paul

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhen Is The Best Time To Apply For The Police Check?
Hi guys.

I hope you're all doing well. Yesterday my fiancee, Caroline, received notification of the NOA2. I know we have a little time to go before I can leave UK for California, but one thing I need to know is this. When is the best time to apply for the police check? I know that it takes forty days but I also heard (maybe wrongly) that once received that it expires after three months. So I was just wondering if I should apply for it now or wait for a little while longer before proceeding?

Any information would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Paul.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVaccinations for the Medical
Hey guys.

Just received the info to arrangement my medical and would like your thoughts on the vaccinations. Would you recommend having them done at your doctor's or wait for the medical? The costs look quite steep, in addition to the exorbitant bill for the check up, but it's not clear if all are required. I assume I'll be able to get confirmation of the ones I've had from my GP. But any further information would be appreciated. Cheers.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCan I get an Affidavit/Affidativ From the US Embassy to help with house rental payments when I arrive?
Hi guys.

My fiancee and I have been discussing getting a new apartment when I arrive, but to make things easier (as my baby's credit rating is not great) they have suggested I could get an Affidavit (or Affidativ) from the US Embassy to confirm I will be co-sponsor in payments. Has anyone heard of this and how I go about getting one (for example, can I get one at my K1 interview or would I have to apply separately?) Any information would be appreciated.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 - Affidavit?
Hi guys.

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I just would like clarification. According to the notes for the I-751 it says that you may wish to add an affidavit. In most people's experience have you bothered with this? We have plenty of evidence to show the legitimacy of our marriage - all our bills, property contracts, tax returns have our joint married names on it - so I'm just wondering if we should bother. And if we do is it recommended to get the document notarized?

Thanks!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionPassport Photos with I-751?
Hi guys.

Okay, another question from me. Do I need to put passport photographs with my I-751 or should I just wait till they
take another appalling picture of me at my biometrics so that I look like a convicted criminal?

Thanks!

PhilippinesPOE: Which line do you stand in?
Hi guys.

Just want to know which line you're supposed to stand in at the airport - Visitors or US Citizens/Permanent Resident?

Kind regards.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOne Way Trips To The U.S.
Okay, while I'm here - another annoying question.

I've looked at flights to Los Angeles for when I finally can be with my loved one, but the one-way trips to LA seem to be twice the price as a return trip. Does it really matter if I book a return trip to save some money, even though I'm not coming back for some time?

Cheers.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCredit Checks For Immigrants In The U.S.
Hi Guys.

Okay, well it's coming up to crunch time and my future wife is looking for a new apartment/house for us to live. Anyway, she's a little worried about the credit check but we're hoping that as my credit is better than hers we might be able to secure ourselves a decent apartment, even though we live in SoCal. Any ideas about the best way for me to get a credit check in the UK? I've used sites like Experian before, but frankly the information they sent was pretty inadequate. Any other suggestions would be most appreciated. We're not sure what's the best way to go about these things.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp With I-134 Affidavit of Support For Visa Interview
Hi guys.

HELP!

Just got all my paperwork together for the K-1 Visa interview and notice something about the I-34 Affidavit of Support is required. We have duplicates of everything we have sent, but not this one, so is this something that is required for the interview? If it is it suggests it has to be signed in front of a notary? Is this also true? I would assume by this I would therefore need the original rather than a copy - which will mean my fiancee sending it from California? I don't know how we missed this. Any information would be most grateful as we do not want to delay/jeopardise my interview. Many thanks.

Paul.
