I need help. Please.
My fiance sent a package in July. Well, he included 6 pictures of us. BUT, one of those pictures has a wrong date. It was only taken by his cellphone. He took all of them to Walgreen to develop. OK, the picture which was taken by his cell has a correct date on the back of the picture. Usually any pictures taken by cellphones show dates. He thought that the date was a file number. He got stressed out and tried his best to find the date. (well, it was there!). And he remember it was something summer, so he estimated that the date was July 10th. It caused trouble. It was taken by sep 9th, 2006 AND, on July 10th, I was visiting my family in Japan, so there was no way we could take a picture together. Well, now, I have no idea what to do. A lawyer said do not call USCIS and just wait. BUT, if I do not get RFE or any chances to fix this problem, I need to do that before my interview at the embassy. I do not want to swear before I fix. Should I send a letter to the embassy if I get NOA2? Or what should I do? How should I explain about this stupid mistake? I hope that USCIS deny us due to dishonesty. It was a simple error and we included other pictures which are fine. Ahh Pls. Help me. crying.gif

I think you'll be fine. If ANYTHING you could get an RFE for lack of evidence, but I imagine that you will be just fine. The embassy didn't even ask to see any evidence from my fiance.

This wasn't just some touch, they sent out my NOA2! WOOO HOOOO!

Man, NOA1 to NOA2 has to be the worst part of the process... waiting and waiting while being separated. But, it's moving forward now. My day is full of awesome today.

get ready for things to move faster from here. Have your fiance start getting her stuff together because the Japanese embassy is FAST!

Hello Everyone!

Giving everyone an update. Yuibi arrived safely two weeks ago with Visa in hand! We couldn't be happier to finally be reunited after such a long time!

But a word of caution to everyone with your point of entry- as that this happened to us and we are now facing more problems because of immigration. When you enter the USA make SURE that the immigration officer gives you your I-94 back. They did not give ours back at Houston. You need this to get a SSN and apply for Adjustment of Status.

So now another battle begins for us crying.gif

Konnichiwa Aaron and all Japanese filers,

I am just curious but what is RFE trick? How much it would speed up the process? I have seen many people mention RFE trick here, and was always wondering...

I hope your fiancee will get the visa soon!

RFE trick won't speed up the process at all. The only thing it will do is allow you to talk to someone at the Service center where your petition was sent. Most likely, they will just tell you that your case hasn't been assigned. It seems that once the cases hit a desk, they move pretty fast. I would recommend being patient and watching when other filers around you get approved, that should give you a better idea when your time is coming!

Good luck!

Hello fellow Japanese filers!

I am still filling out paperwork as my fiancee gathers a few more documents and I've run into a question. How did you enter Japanese addresses into your G-325A and I-129F forms? My fiancee is from Tokyo and I am having a hard time fitting the Japanese addresses into the forms. Did you just add a sheet with this information?

Thank you and good luck everyone!!

I was lucky that my fiance's address was small enough to fit easily. Although her father took her mother's last name when they got married so that created a bit of confusion.

Hello Japanese filers!

I just wanted to let everyone know that there is action being taken at the California USCIS. My filing date for our I-130 was June 11th.
We had our first “Touch” on Wednesday night (Oct 17th) at about 7:30 PM and were approved by 11:30 PM the same night. It looks like they are working overtime to get things moving.
My wife and I are now starting our journey at the NVC. It took over 4 months for us at the USCIS California office and I believe that is about the average length. I am hoping that it will only take about 3 months for NVC.
I know that it is hard to wait because I was checking the USCIS website at least 10-20 times a day because I was impatient; I know it will happen for you!

I wish everyone luck and I hope that the USCIS moves fast for you!

NVC bound…..

You might be in for a wait for your petition to get sent to NVC. My fiance and I were approved the 25th and I still haven't gotten word that our case was sent to NVC. Congrats on the approval though. One step closer to being back together!

Are you waiting on written confirmation or did you call the NVC to ask?

Just called NVC today and they got us into the system yesterday. From others on the forum and myself I would estimate it is about a month between NO2 at CSC to NVC... although it seems like they are pretty quick to get the petitions to the embassies.

Can someone share what info the Japanese consolate asks for? How much needs to be mailed and how much is brought to the interview? Also, what is this 'police report' I see people talking about. What report would you have if you have no criminal history??

Has your fiance received anything from the embassy yet? It should include instructions for what she needs.

After a long battle with CSC to MAIL our petition after our NOA2- everything has been wonderful. I'm happy to report that thus far- the Japanese embassy is VERY fast at responding and seems to actually know how to do their job! good.gif Our petition was received at Tokyo on Sep. 25 and we received our interview date today! star_smile.gif

The forms that they sent for the interview request doesn't have a space for a preferred date. So Yuibi wrote in the margin that he wanted his interview on Oct 15, if possible. And wow! They responded immediately saying his appointment is Oct. 15 at 8:30am! I am VERY impressed with the Japanese embassy. After such a long time I know that I'll be seeing my fiance in three weeks! luv.gif

Congratulations! It is so nice to hear that the Japanese embassy has their act together. After hearing your excellent news I am pretty certain Sayaka will be coming home with me after new years!!!

It is great to hear everyone is getting along well!!! Sayaka and I are getting really excited to be together after doing the long distance thing for so long. I sent her flowers for her birthday last week and when I called her when she got home from work she was in tears. She said it was the best birthday present ever!!! I felt like a halfway decent fiance at the point. She said she didn't expect to get anything on her birthday since she got her birthday box a week earlier. .... I really hate spending birthdays and holidays apart.

I am trying to keep practicing Japanese. I normally go to a study session about once a week for it, but I have so much going on with school since this is my last year, and I'm really trying to land a good job or internship. I took two years in University, but the writing component fades really fast when you don't use it. Oh well, Sayaka's major was Japanese language education so I will have a pro for a wife in a few months.

Ganbatte everybody!

It is nice to see a few folks with Japanese fiances on here. My fiance, Sayaka, found a great support group much like this one on the social networking site Mixi.

Just a question to throw out there: how were the reactions from your Japanese fiance's parents when they found out their son/daughter would be marrying a Gaijin??

Sayaka's family was fine with me being an American, but are still worried that I am a University student (although i work full time) and they are sad Sayaka will be leaving Japan to live in America.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhen should I start being worried? K1 filed, looks like it hasn't even been touched.
So I packed up everything for my fiance Sayaka and my K1 visa. Things were shipped out in April to Nebraska if I recall and then it was turned around and shipped to California from there. It was said to be received May 31st of this year. I was in Japan for a month, but I had my parents checking my mail for me while I was away and nothing showed up in the mail. Our check was cashed and our receipt number was on the back. I used the receipt number to check our status, and nothing has happened since May 31st. I see some people are starting to get NAO2's, but our case doesn't even look like it's been touched. We were ridiculously thorough with everything, and included many pictures, copies of plane tickets and other evidence that we do in fact have a relationship and have maintained one for more than 3 years.

At what point should I be concerned and contacting USCIS. I did this one time before, and the only thing they could tell me was the same thing I saw on the website.

Thanks for you help

Aaron (Washington state)
and best wishes from my fiance Sayaka (Sanda, Hyogo-ken, Japan)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsReality Check
going through this whole process makes me wish that we had not done it the correct/legal way. My fiance could have easily traveled here w/o a fiance visa and we could have just filed at our local office. The whole fiance visa process is silly IMO. You ask permission from the govt. for your fiance to travel here legally... yet they could have traveled here legally anyways. I understand if it the fiance is from a country where they have to apply for a visa just to visit, but ally countries like Canada and Britain? Give me a break. Approve or deny them at their actual interview. Make them show proof of having met BEFORE the most recent trip.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTrying to stay positive
The misinformation line will do that to you. I think the reality of the situation is that none of it is fair. The whole system broken, and we are at its mercy until it is done. For whatever reason your case may have more facets than others, or it might be as simple as the guy who put stuff in the truck put the box with your application in under some other boxes that should have been behind yours.

Although my fiance's case was recently approved, we are still waiting on CSC to send the package to NVC. Why they approve it and then fail to send it on is beyond me. After waiting more than four months (my case was in limbo for more than a month before my check was cashed) and then being thrown to the dogs yet again I finally emailed one of my Representatives.

To add icing to the cake, if you actually do get on the phone with someone they will most likely be rude to you.

Wow, telling you 6 months is a bit excessive, even for misinformation. Every time I called USCIS about it, they were generally very friendly, although not in a position to offer much help. Lately, it's been taking about 4 weeks for NVC to receive it. I heard there was a problem with their courier service that caused a delay, but whatever the reason, having to wait more without any information is terrible. I just got my letter from them yesterday, and it was dated the 12th. I called and they told me the case had already left on the 11th so by the time you receive your letter from them, there's a good chance that your case has already been forwarded to the embassy. Just keep watching your mail for your letter!

Thanks for you kind words. Now that I think back about my phone call I think the person on the end of the line was screwed up on their estimate. The 6 months is their time frame to approve K1 petitions, not the time period to send them to NVC. Second, the lady mentioned the delays in sending people receipts as if this actually applied to me and my current status. I kept reiterating to her that I was approved and I was not one of the people calling waiting to be approved by them. Oh well.

Part of my job is customer service, and if I came close to treating a customer like I was treated today then I wouldn't have a job.

WHERE DO THEY FIND THESE PEOPLE!!!!?????

I'm in the same boat. It says on my NAO1 that they process K1's in the order that they are received. It seems discriminatory to process one visa ahead of another based upon the country that the beneficiary is native to.
