Hi-
I guess you can say we are in AP. Add us to the list. blink.gif Had the interview April 15, 2009 in Damascus, Syria. Submitted the document they needed again.
Told to come back May 10th- only to be told then that we need to wait until our number appears online at the Embassy site.
I am assuming we are in some sort of security name clearance thingy??

Jennie- Is Ammar in Damascus? (while Ghassan didn't have people throwing papers at him, he wasn't really told straigh-forward what was happening/why)

Praying for us all.
Baj

Sorry your stuck in Ap, I hope it wont be long for you.
Im calling DOS tomorrow just to do a follow up.
God Bless!

I was wrong when I said I filed the I-129f it was the I 129 I filed and they sent it back saying since the I-130 was approved I didnt need the I-129.
I didnt mean to cause any disagrement with anyone, all Im asking is why the NVC sent back the approved I-130 to the USCIS.

sorry and thanks

my I-130 was approved and sent to the nvc feb 21, 08 didnt hear anything from them so I called, they told me they sent my paperwork back to USCIS on march 21st, called USCIS they havent received anything from them. why would they do this? is this normal?

Keep calling them, try to get the root of this. Ask the NVC why they sent it back, tell them it hasn't been rec'd by USCIS yet. Hang in there!

thank you for the advice. Ive tried to call both the uscis and nvc and they wont give me any answers. every time I call they tell me something different. give it 3 months and call back, call back in 1 month. give it 6 months... wacko.gif

I suspect they have already forwarded your I-129f to the Consulate abroad. What is the status they give you for that?

If you want an immigrant visa, don't file an I-129F for spouse.

after my I-30 was approved I send in the I-129F and they sent it back to me. they told me since the I-130 was approved I did not need to send the I-129f in... Im soooo confused and sad.gif

thank you for answering me, my husband did his interview in damascus, how was your husband's appointment? did they approve his visa, i really hope every thing went good with you, and thanks about westren union.

my husband's interview was not that good the co asked him many questions about our relationship , he didn't give him enough time to explain every thing and he kept telling him you have to tell the truth to get a visa!! finally he put him in AP and now, after almost 3 months , he requested moer proof of relationship, we're so confused what to send to the embassy, we just have our emails and everyday chatting, and i wil send them notarized letters hopefully this could help.. .

sounds like they had the same co, ammar's interview was april 27th ,after he gave them more paperwork they wanted, he went back today and they put him in ap. we gave them alot of things for proof of a relationship, I travled there 4 times. I know they have to do there job, but really I think they do this so people will give up. I wish you luck and hope your husband is with you soon. the co told him he had to tell the truth? WOW.

oh my, you ladies have me laughing! But not worried! I am going to be in Egypt, (1st trip), what will I do with my toilet paper? Put it in the trash can? Even after #2? ewwwww. Really?

Now it's only ewwwwwwwww if you are following American bathroom habits... Egyptians technically should not have any difference in the "condition" of their TP after #1 OR #2.... I think maybe this isn't coming through in this thread...

After using the toilet Muslims (including Egyptians) must WASH their private parts not just wipe them. You can't pray if you have a drop of "negasa" (impurity) on you, or your clothing, including your undies... (I swear that is one of the BEST things about being married to a pious, practicing Muslim husband!!!!

So when an Egyptian uses TP it's to dry, or blow their nose... at the John it's not the first line of defense, it's the last... They start by spraying themselves with the water jet (typically inside the toilet, or on a spraying device like we have in our kitchen sinks that hangs on the wall next to the toilet)... then they clean with their hands... some use soap, some just water, to clean their behinds... and then comes the (often communal) "toilet towel" or if they have enough income (or an American wife who forces them to buy TP) they might use the TP to dry... then toss it in the trash, not the toilet... Any way you look at it, the TP in the trash won't be that dirty... compared to the American's used TP...

By the way, I don't recommend using the water jets that are inside the toilet, especially the ones that are shaped like a J with curved end pointing up in the bottom of the pot.... It's perfectly positioned to catch things GOING DOWN from ABOVE... talk about ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww rolleyes.gif and since most of them are rusty, you can't tell what has hit it GOING DOWN and is either stuck to it, or down IN IT before you let it loose and it acts like a volcano shooting whatever is there BACK UP towards YOUR Heinie!!!!! Double Dutch ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww ranting33va.gif

How anyone can think this (especially in a public toilet!) can be "cleaner" than Toilet Paper, I haven't a clue... Remember Hepatitis C is at seriously high proportions in Egypt... Even the toilets that have a blast of water from the back of the bowel (that typically is aimed poorly and shoots out between the seat and the rim and hits me in the bend of my knees and gets my clothes wet... is gross... and I believe the cause of many an infection in the hoohoo.... (blasts from the back to the front!) And by the way, that problem is specially troublesome for those of us silly Americans who believe a toilet seat is to SIT ON... many Egyptians don't even have one... as MANY sit directly on the rim... so keep the water from doing what I described above... and increase their chances of having it hit their tushie instead of the bend of their knees or the wall in front of them.....

Since many Muslim men wouldn't DREAM of standing up to pee the problem with the rim being nasty SUPPOSEDLY isn't there. Somehow it just never will be NORMAL to me to sit on a rim... (dang cold in winter too!)

I'm so glad this subject came up... it reminds me of how thankful I am to my husband that he came here to live... I can count on one hand the number of bathrooms in Egypt I'd call even CLOSE to normal.... And I've been there more times than I can count...

Here's hoping that:

1) You have your own flat with control of your own bathroom
2) You take some gloves with you and insist on a bottle of bleach as soon as you get there... so you can "TAKE CHARGE" of your situation...
3) Your husband is "fascinated" by your western ways... (and calls them cute and charming) or is a clean freak himself... (and therefore considered "damaged" by those around him...) and wants it just like you do....
4) You get used to it... in 20 years I never have...

And when you are out and about... carry your own Lysol wipes (you can get them in packets like "wet ones".... ) to use on the seat or rim if your not that lucky.... and carry your own flushable wipes (they come in soft packs with a pop up dispenser that will easily fit in your purse) they are great for booties and hands, and anything else that gets dirty and buy packets of tissue from every poor woman on the street corner that you see... it's how they survive... so over pay... and call it charity....

You'll have a great appreciation for your bathroom when you come home!

Great info... learn something new everyday!

Hi Ladies,
as we all know in the middle east most ppl dont use toilet paper they use water to clean them selfs after using the bathroom. how did your husbands handle that when they got here. mine says he is going to hook something up in the bathroom when he gets here.
dont mean to gross anyone out, just still learning.

Every time I get an email like that, I respond to every person it was sent to when it was sent to me and I correct every wrong part of it! I do so in a very polite and easy going way and give them gentle reminders that it is not ok to spread these things not knowing if they are true or not and that they need to have research to back up the lies that they are sending. It ruffles my feathers in a major way!!!
