PhilippinesCheap/Reasonable Flights
Hi! I was wondering if anyone know cheap or reasonable flights from the US to the Philippines, roundtrip? My fiance is planning to visit sometime in May-June and we're trying to look for a cheap ticket. Would it be advisable to book this advanced? Lay-overs are okay, as long as it doesn't last for a long time.

Thanks for the help. :)

Well, I just told the girl to put in "for K-1 visa purposes". I guess that's good enough.

PhilippinesCertificate of No Marriage

Ann's said "For travel abroad" and we got approved yesterday. They never even looked at what it said. Her NBI said "For Travel to US". That is the important one. Just our suggestion.
Good luck.

I guess I'll just leave it at that then? For k-1 visa purposes.. since they don't really look at it? Yeah, I heard the NBI clearance is what's important. Thanks for the tip. :)

K1, Visa, Personal, etc.

Don't be so quick to tell your life story to somebody just because you see them as an authority figure in the Philippines.....

Huh?

PhilippinesCertificate of No Marriage
Hi Everyone!!

I just called NSO for my certificate of no marriage. I would just like to ask what I would put in the purpose? I told the lady to put "for K-1 visa purposes". Is that correct? Or should it be "for travel abroad purposes". Thanks everyone for your help. :)

PhilippinesAnyone here from the Philippines?

They should hire more staff to do the reviewing of petition papers to keep us all going. Our American citizen fiances deserve a good service in return of paying their taxes!

True that!!! Those taxes are expensive. Shocks me everytime when I find out how much their taxes are :bonk: :o

Well, jimmy_jlyn is from VSC. We're from CSC. We have all heard how slow VSC is. Hopefully, all of our papers will get approved soon, both CSC and VSC! Just a little bit more patience..

Oh my! We'll be on our 4th month this coming April. We submitted ours on the 1st of December. I wish they would be faster, also. (CSC) However, I notice there are still so many couples ahead of us. Hopefully, we'll be reunited with our love one soon. But, it is still very hard to leave the Philippines. All my friends and family are here. I love the Philippines. :(

Nope, we don't play that game in the USA "Certified True Copies"

Just take copies from a copy machine.

Cool! Thanks tallcoolone :) Got it. :)It's just a lot of people say "certified true copy" and I was thinking about the number of papers that I was gonna have to get "certified" and how much that would amount to.

PhilippinesFor the interview
Hi everyone!

I just want to ask this to anyone who experienced getting interviewed for the approval of the K-1 visa already.

They ask for documents right? And you have to photocopy them? When I have them photocopied, do I have to have it stamped "certified true copy"? This goes to all documents ie evidence of relationship, birth certificates, evidences of supports, and everything else.

Thanks for the tip.

No. He can scan the NOA2 and send it to your email. medical at slec does NOT need the original NOA2,Only thing i brought in as originals is my passport andID pictures.

Hmmm.. Let's see. So, all I need is my printed out NOA2, ID pictures, some ID's, passport, and that's it? Am I missing something?

How do I get my NOA2? Is it going to be mailed to me? Because the only notice of approval that was sent to us is a 1 page paper that was sent to my fiance in the US. Does he need to mail that NOA2 to me here in the PI?

PhilippinesSt. Luke's

I just want to share this, last week May 12-13 (thursday-friday) I went for medical.
I went at 8:00AM and got out at 11AM, my medical exam went well and they asked me to return the next day for the vaccine at 9AM and i was done at 10AM.. that was fast. no hassles and no long lines.

By the way, bring 2 copies of appointment letter, 3 pcs. 2x2 pictures (ears should be exposed and no earings) I had to repeat my pictures because they did not meet the standards of st.lukes, plus photocopy your passport. no food allowed just water in a bottle (not C2 or soda or anything with color they are very very strict).

If you are on your menstruation, just dont go because some tests wont be done when u have your period.
Good luck...

Thanks for the picture info! Will have it redone.

PhilippinesManila CFO

To play it safe, have her take everything she has taken to the interview to CFO especially if she goes to the Taft Avenue CFO. They can ask and do ask for things like a copy of any divorce decree, pictures of yoyu and your girl together. If you do not have...no sticker in the passport. Even though a copy of any divorce decrees are needed at the interview, CFO are plan pain in the butts. Go to the CFO in St Marys if you can.

Really? Well, PRISM is nearer.. so I was thinking of going there. But, I can also go to St. Mary's.. It just takes more effort. I will think about it. Thanks for your response, it really helped a lot. Basically, they ask for evidence. GRRRRR.. Will get that done. Thanks :)

Question:

I was looking at the CFO website and checking what documents are needed. On number 4, it says there "other documents".

What exactly are those other documents? How vague can it get. LOL

Do I need to bring proof of my relationship with my fiance? Or other papers or documents? Help please. :)

PhilippinesOne Week in Manila

you can take the CFO at any time. It seems to work much better IF you take it BEFORE the medical and embassy interview. The counselors feel better that you are more informed on things. At least that is what I am hearing from those who are traveling to US. the family I am involved in:I am bringing a niece of the family. One girl has her parents traveling in a few weeks, and the aunt has two brothers traveling in a month, plus the daughter hopefully in a year or two. I am involved in a while new section of the family in the village. But it is like a section of the village is already here in my town.

Once you take the CFO guidance session, when you leave the Philippines, you can stop at the CFO desk in NAIA and get your sticker showing the certificate (looks like a green check). You do not have to go to the CFO office unless you want to. the key is to have two valid id's for the guidance class. If you want the certificate and the sticker at the same time, that is only at cebu. In manila, you go to the center, then to the CFO main office.
from the CFO face book site: CFO's extension desk is located in all 3 terminals of NAIA.

(the last I heard the extensions desk hours at 6 am to 11 pm - airport hours - but not confirmed recently.)

Just know the CFO is ONLY part where the Philippine government really can exercise control. EXPECT additional requirements at times. Sometimes it goes smoothly. But in my case where my fiance IS significantly younger then me, I expect massive problems.

great information! Thanks! Might have it done anytime soon :)

your passport is delivered to you after the interview with visa in your passport. you can take the seminar before the interview, but they will not but the sticker in it until you have your visa. after you have you passport with visa, you'll need to go back to CFO for the sticker.

Okay! Is it wise to take the CFO seminar already even before the medical and interview? Is that allowed?

I know it's earlier in St. Mary's. Plus, you can get the sticker in that place as well, no need to travel. I just don't know the time, and if you're coming from the South, it's a bit farther away.

Philippinesbringing USC fiance' to CFO seminar
I was wondering this as well too because my fiance will be here next week and I was planning to have the CFO seminar. Also, I thought they would allow it because it would be enough proof for them that we are truly serious in the relationship because I heard that they ask for really weird documents and stuff. I wish they would allow my fiance, since he is a USC anyway, but oh well.

PhilippinesWhere and why?
Hi everyone! I'm planning to enter the US by the 2nd week of July. I was just wondering from people who have POE'd, where they bought their tickets and why in that specific airline? The pro's and con's? When I had my interview, there were a lot of travel agencies giving out flyers when we were lining up (So Pinoy) and their rates are really cheap. :o $300-400 sans tax so maybe around $600 all in all. I just thought it was too good to be true. I'm trying to look for a cheap/reasonable one and will book it within this week.

Thanks in advance for all your input.

San ka attend ng CFO girl? I attended it sa St.Mary's. You just need to bring your passport with visa. Have them photocopied. Pero I tell you,ang mahal magpa-xerox don. 7 pesos per page ata un.Kaya much better magdala ka na ng photocopy ng passport and ng visa mo. I also brought some pics with me pero they didn't ask for it naman. Pero dala ka na rin just in case magtanong sila.

Sa St. Mary's din ako. Too late na.. Hindi ko pa napapa-photocopy visa ko. Dun nalang. Haha, gabi na kasi. Sana hindi baha sa Aurora Blvd. Pahirapan nanaman!

No, not for k-1.

One strange thing they insisted on knowing is your fiancé's mother's maiden name.

Hay, I'll probably be annoyed tomorrow if they ask unnecessary questions, and then include the fact that I've been PMS-ing for a couple days now.

I just had my seminar in St. Mary's last week. Decided to have it done when I receive my visa para isang puntahan lang. The one-on-one, simple lang, "How did you meet?" "When did he migrate to the US?" simple questions.

Just make sure that you know all of the information of your fiance like his home and cellphone number. They won't let you go unless you completely fill up the form.

Don't regret it! All things happen in God's perfect time :) I understand how you feel though. Two days ago I attended my first military funeral, the death of a 24 yr old marine who was my husband's good friend. It really made me see how short and precious life is, and we must not take anything for granted. My husband is leaving me soon for a 14 month deployment which sucks, but I will just continue to have faith because I know God is looking out for us, and he is watching over you guys too :)

PhilippinesAOS - is it necessary

AP is temporary, and may or may not permit you to reenter the country before you receive LPR status. Once your AOS is approved, no need for AP. The same with EAD. It allowes you to work while waiting for AOS to be approved. If you don't plan on working, or leaving the country before you receive you AOS, no need to file for either. EAD is usually filed for, since there is no additional cost when filing at the same time for AOS. The EAD serves as lawful presence document, so many get it for that reason only.

AP = Advanced Parole
AOS = Adjustment of Status (to Lawful Permanent Resident)
EAD = Employment Authorization Document
ROC = Removal of Conditions (on Permanent Residency)

Oh! So that's why. When I was reading a guide for AOS, I thought, "Why are AP's and EAD's optional, when it's the same price when you file for AOS?"
Now, I realize that they are not valid anymore once the AOS is approved. But, it is included in the price anyway, so why not apply for it as well, huh?

Cleared up everything! Thank you, Some Old Guy! :)

PhilippinesAOS - is it necessary
Interesting, as I am still unclear as to what the AOS is for, but after reading this, it answered some of my questions.

However, I still have one question in mind. I know that when you file for AOS, you also include the EAD and AP. I have some questions regarding AP. My AP is important to me because my Dad is sick and he might have emergencies. When does an AP expire? When my AOS is approved, and I have a GC, does it mean that the AP is not anymore valid? I'm confused with this part, and any help would be gladly appreciated.
