Wow! How the....? lol

Congratulations :)

I am really jelous!! So much for first come first served! :D

Tony,
I don't have any idea how I was approved before you two! I've been looking at your timeline everyday, I figured I'd be a week or two behind you. I'm in shock to be truthful. Now we have to get all the documents in order before the NOA2 expires! We have to wait for a police record from Canada which I hear can take a while. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. It seems like we can barely celebrate one hurdle passed before we are trying to leap over another one.
I have great hope that you will be only a day or two behind!
Thanks to all of you for the warm wishes!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThank you VSC!
So here I've been fretting for over a week since my application was recieved. I still had no NOA1. I've been hounding my sister (address back in the States). I've been pestering people (and whining a little) about NOA1 wait times and I've been filling in the blanks and decided that there MUST have been a problem.
Well, I guess the problem is that they didn't see the need to send a NOA1 since it would be sent out almost at the same time as the NOA2! Our package was accepted via express mail on the 23rd and it was approved on the 28th! I can't believe how fast that was. Really?!?!?! 3 days?!?!?!?!. I wish everyone gets to cross that staffers desk!
I am thrilled, so is my fiance. We hope the rest of the process goes as smooth. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
YIPPEEEEE!!!!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting for NOA1...

Uggh. I don't mean to be so impatient, because I know CSC people wait much longer, but day 5 here- no NOA1, no check cashed.

I am having a million worries that I didn't send enough e-mail's...

When I look at other VSC filers recently- the check is cashed much sooner.

Unfortunately, I don't have online banking, so can't even get the case number of the back of the check, God willing it is cashed.

Phila,
I have no idea what will happen in your case but stressing about the NOA1 will be the biggest waste of your stress. There is no approval attached to that notice, just saying they got it. I was sweating it too...but I still haven't gotten an NOA1....I got something better, an NOA2!
I looked around on a lot of threads, most people do get the first notice, but it is not unheard of for it to never come. I didn't even get an email for it. I have no way of knowing if your case will go the same as mine, but Vermont sure is speedy for some of us these days.
Whatever the case, enjoy the movie and wine. And hope you get word soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresKind of complicated story.. ideas appreciated~
I usually try to stay far away from these charged threads, but I just have to stick my two cents in here. Unfortunatly I am afraid the person who needs to hear this probably no longer logs into VJ...but in case she is reading, here goes.
When I was 17 (not much older than she) I completely supported myself and have ever since (I'm 33 now). So arguing about what she would do...she would figure it out, like most of us do if and when we fall on our faces.
When my mother was 17 she had to leave her childhood home due to abusive situations that were not just 'teenage drama'. She and her boyfriend quit school and moved together and shortly after, married him. She is still with this man, my father, after 42 years and have 4 grown daughters, 6 grandchildren, and one brand new great-grandchild. Did they rush into things, YES. Was my mom running away from her family, YES. Was it a terrible mistake? I don't think so.
The point I'm tryng to make is who are we to guess the future? This girl needs to make her own choices. I wish I had the answers she was looking for which waas specific to the best way to come to the states to live with her fiance. I'm not saying 15 year olds always make the best decisions, but I am saying that it is her life to live. Not ours. If in her heart of hearts, she feels like she can do this, than who are we to say anything about it? She asked about visa questions. I'm not saying it is innappropriate to offer opinions, but there is a limit to when friendly advice becomes lectures and grand-standing.
To the best of my knowledge, when things are legal, there aren't any red-flags.
Good Luck to you!
I hope everything works out just fine.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUg... is this really going to take 7 months??
Welcome to VJ!
The only advice I could give is to read the guides that Tonyeck gave you the links to.
These are extremely helpful, I have spend hours and hours reading over the guides and peoples posts to get a better grasp on the whole process.
Vermont is the fastest service center, I was issued my NOA2 (approval for I-129F) 5 days after it was delivered by mail. Not everyone is quite so speedy, but Vermont really has been fast. (Thanks to them my Fiance now thinks I am a paperwork God and he worships me at a small shrine in the kitchen...just kidding) :innocent:
Make sure you follow all the checklists and complete everything it asks for, that will reduce the risk of getting any RFE's (request for Evidence) to clarify things for the USCIS.
Good Luck on your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Clearance

I never really though about this but....

My fiance was in the U.S. for 9 months, but he traveled all around. Oklahoma for 3 weeks, Texas for 1 month, Florida for 2 weeks, and so on (probably 10-15 different states total). Does he need a police check for each different state he was in? I dont even know where to begin for him to get the police check....

Thanks for any help!!

He will not need police certificates from the US, only foreign countries. The NVC and possibly the nsulate will run all the appropriate checks for within the US.

I agree with TimsDaisy, take a breath, it's not going to happen overnight. You'll need to pace your anxiety or else you'll burn out way before the finish line.
The process is lengthy, you need to be prepared for that.
You will see some people having more difficulty than other based on various things. Your location of Forgiegn Embassy/Consulate makes a difference when it comes time for an interview, the USCIS service center matters during the initial I-9F process. Some people take longer in name/records check and some don't. If you look at the bottom of most peoples responses you will see that most have already received an NOA2. That means what they sent into the USCIS was acceptable. If there are further questions, you will know....sometimes more is not better. This is one of those times. Send in ample evidence, but nothing more than you are asked for.
I sent in 9 pictures. They were printed at a local shop (overseas) so they are basically the same anyone else would just print on their home computer. I handwrote the date and a small caption on the back of each of them. I put them into plastic sleeves so that the adjudicator could see the picture, flip the page and the hand written information would be visible on the other side.
Follow the advice of making sure your primary evidence is up to par, that means anything that shows you were in the same place at the same time. I didn't have anything that had both our names on it, so I just used things that showed I was in the country with him (I am the USC).
Things will be OK!
a good rule to follow is that if you have more than one person giving you the same advice on simple questions, it's most likely good advice.
Good Luck,
Sue

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it ok to send money order?
I sent a money order drawn on an international bank, it was still fine.
didn't get my NOA1 either, so by the time I got my number, I was approved. It was a blessing in disguise I think. With no case number, I wasn't able to sit obsessively in front of my computer waiting to be touched!
Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFernanda's interview is March 13 Rio de Janeiro!!

Thank you all!

Today is the day! I talked to Fernanda as she was going for her Taxi minutes ago. She'll be at the Consulate for 7:15. Needless to say, neither of us slept at all last night. But today, we will complete this long and slow process. I thought this day would never come! I feel nervous, anxious, happy, sleepy, but confident that we will do well today. Now I wait to receive that phone call from her later today. I am such a nervous wreck today that I am having to "work" from home. She is calmer than me!

Again, thank you for the support.

Joey & Fernanda

Oh Gosh!
This is soooo exciting!
Good luck to the two of you.
I can understand why you are more anxious than she is....she is there and seeing it all happen, you just have to sit by and wait for a phone call with only your imagination (and fellow VJ'ers to keep you company)

K-1 filers are at NVC for a very short time, we are sort of stuck in limbo between non-immigrant and immigrant visa's. We have to give proof for relationship with the I-129F, but we don't have to fulfull all that is required for full immigration...yet. That is why we don't file those things at NVC.
The embassy in Brazil will require a I-134 or something similar (some variation from one Embassy to the next) for evidence of support, but the I-864 won't have to be submittted until after you two are in the states, married and filing for AOS (Adjustment of Status).
You will not need to 'do' anything while at NVC except wait. I have only heard of one case where additionnal information was needed at NVC and it was just that one location...can't even remember which one.
Good Luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresanswering "none" or N/A" etc on I-129F, G325A

Form I-129F middle name - I dont have any. Do I need to fill in 'none' in the box or should i just leave it empty or it doest matter either way?

Form G325A - same question for middle name and also at the bottom of G325A there is a big heavy border box - what should be filled in there for (Middle name) and (Alien Registration Number) - I dont have both of them..should leave blank or write 'none' and 'N/A' respectively?

Form G325A - there is a box 'File Number' on the right hand top corner - what is this and what should be filled in here?

thx all !

Write "none" in any spot there isn't an answer such as no middle name or no A#
where is says file number...it is asking for your A#...again just write "none"
the example forms link is very helpful for all those little questions.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDescribing how you met for I-129F
I wrote out a supplement and described the night we met and the amount of time we are spending together ever since. Mine is a bit different since we live in the same country right now so I can't give travel dates and such.
I probably gave them more of a love story than they needed to know...but I guess I wanted them to see how genuine my feelings are for him. I think other people have been successful with a much simpler explanaition though.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfee waiver
Has anyone in here tried to get a fee waiver when filing the different forms?
I know you can apply for one through the Dept. of State (at least that's where I read about it) but I don't know how likely it is. I am the petitioner, but will have a sturdy co-sponsor as I am a Peace Corps volunteer with no claimable income. Sooo, it shouldn't hurt my chances to get my fiance to the states, but given the possible new rate increases, we won't be able to afford them.
If anyone knows anything, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Sent Today!

HERE[/url] (please disregard I-134 and support info, it isn't needed until interview time)

Hopefully you referred to the guides before you sent your package off and everything is fine, but I'll mention some things I noticed about your list

Passport photos should be less than 30 days old (date on back?)
Letters of intent should be originals, signed and dated (we actually had ours notorized)
Ours were originals/certified copies of birth certificates (from county courthouse)
Photos need to have the names, dates, and descriptions on back
Receipts, unless they have both of your names on them or have the support of the date on pics are worthless in my opinion

Glad to see that you are on your journey and I hope everything goes perfectly for you.

 Good Luck

Just a little clarification, different people's applications can vary so it's worth noting that there are approvals for applications that followed the I-129f directions a little more closely.
The application does not require letters of intent to be notarized, mine were not.
it's ok if the passport photo place doesn't have a date on the pic. we did not have any dates on ours
It's ok to send in copies of the USC birth certicates at this point (the benificiaries is not requested at this point). If for some reason they need to original, they wil ask. I sent a copy of just mine.
Receipts with only one name are ok. I have receipts to show my presence in the country but none of them have both our names on them. It is good that they would coinside with a reported visit.
I don't mean to contradict the reply, but you suggested a lot of work that isn't necessary.
