Guys, when you say NOA1 date, is it the Received Date or the Notice Date? For example, when I got my NOA1, on the Received Date it says April 23, 2009, on the Notice Date it says May 5, 2009. What is my NOA1 date? Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGeneral question about 125% of poverty line
Hiya,
I'm in the same boat....with the income guideline and my child support that I receive I am barely making the cutoff. You know the beauty of the government is that they stick to the rules, If you make it...you make it...if you dont, well you dont....we find a way eventually....
Good luck...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresreceipt dates vs received date vs notice date
On the uscis site it has the spreadsheet on processing dates and updates monthly, ie right now its processing March 31, 2009. How do I know what I am when my first k1 notice is RECEIVED DATE, then NOTICE DATE. How do I use the uscis guideline? ie My Received date is April 27, 2009 and Notice date is May 7th, 2009, am I a APRIL OR A MAY?
Thanks
Allison.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed Help!!!!
Sometimes the border guys look at you like your a risk for illegal immigration when you come into the usa so many times. They usually ask if you have a job at home and if you have money for your stay here and what kind of ties you have back home like a job and who your staying with here in the usa, its fishy if she keeps saying that she is gonna see her fiance etc....its all up to the border guys....otherwise NO there is no TIME LIMIT.

Either way it sucks...I know....even being away for any amt of time is bad, even being 1 day from seeing them is bad....and then of course, the unknown of when you are going to get through all of this....seeing other people get approved in like 2 or so months is a pain in the butt and you get jealous and mad and frustrated....oh yes, we are there too....and then you become addicted to Skype and junk food just to fulfill the need to see him and hear him and to feed that empty feeling....mmhmm...yup...will i fit into my wedding dress now? Who knows...lol....I just want to rip my hair out and make a tantrum like a 3 year old on the floor sometimes...! Oh yes...i'm with ya ....

YES, BIG TIME photocopy the passport with THE STAMPS ...!!! All they want is evidence of meeting....the relationship thing is for the interview. A picture or so is fine, but dont overload at first. Save it for the interview. Just make sure you fill out the forms ok and you will be fine!

My fiance is in the same boat..."no live trace" for letting the air out of the neighbours tires when he was a teenager..we had to go get a "police subject access" from the local cop shop/police station, lol for 10 pounds....takes about 40 or less days to get supposably and we are hoping that it wont affect our interview either! Good luck!

Not sure if that is Moral Turpitude. Probably be ok. If i may ask, Who told you to get the "police subject access"? Was it the US Embassy

There are links on this thread to the guide the U.S embassy use and between 15 and 18 it looks like you are fine if it isnt a felony. Yours definitely wouldnt be and mine probably isnt due to cost of the item and the sentence i got (conditional discharge).

Again, tihs is a nightmare but all i can do is go to the interview. Im allowed to work on government projects so my thinking is that a misdemeanour 25 years ago when i was still a juvenile isnt going to sway things too much. Trouble is, affidavit is slightly dodgy and something medical too. All put together may swing it. Ahh what th ehell, im a good person and they will see that. (that statement is for my benefit i think :0) ).

Paul

There's a lady awhile back ago on VJ that had the same problem with her fiance...or spouse i cant remember, and a young girl who also had "no live trace" and she came in her interview thinking she had no history, just a warning when she was little, they approved the young girl and the lady told me about the subject access and it was fine, i havent heard from her but the young girl gave me the update and all was well....keep ME posted on how you go too btw... I donno, give it a try. I am MAKING Nigel go get it just cause i'm ####### retentive....lol...and have anxiety up the yin yang....LOL....and well, he'll do whatever I damn well tell him to do! You were not "slapped" with a 221g. You received a 221g because you were not prepared for the interview. The financial support requirement is NOT a pass/fail test, there is NO finish line where you win. It is a subjective decision made by ONE person who does not know you or your fiancee and has about 30 seconds to review what you give him. so for others...go to an interview with borderline financials an this is what you can expect. You reap what you sow

I understand that this may be subjective in many, if not all, consulates. Not everyone knows the immigration process in and out, and I don't feel that directing a post to the OP that basically scolds him like a child will make any difference in what has already occurred. It certainly isn't necessary to get your point across. For us that have been through the process, we are well aware of how the consulates operate. I just think in general we should all have mutual respect for each other and be as sensitive as possible to others going through the same painful experience we ourselves had once gone through. Being separated from Luis was the hardest thing I've ever done, so I understand.

I probably would have cried if I had gotten a reply like this for one of my questions. Thank god everyone I encountered during my K-1 and AOS process were super-supportive.

I think when a person has gone down the path of unrealistic expectation and poor preparation this far, it helps to both get their attention, clearly reset their expectations and focus the responsibility for the expectations and preparation squarly on the responsible party. That is exactly the point of the answer given. This is a do it yourself forum. Emphasis is "yourself".

To the OP, an individual cosponsor who qualifies is needed. That could be either parent, not both. They'll state only their own personal income, not their joint income. The supporting documentation would be pay stubs and tax returns including W2 and 1099 forms so it's clear which income is for the individual sponsor.

We got a 221 g for not having a proper court record/police clearance...we know ALL about not being equipted for the interview...they just stick you on hold essentially, till you send it in, and then if your ok, then you get your visa is how I believe its done... star_smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 versus K3?

My fiance and I are trying to decide the best way from him to come to the USA. Is it better for him to come over on a K1 visa and us get married in the USA or is it better for us to get married in the UK and bring him over here on a K3 visa?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you.

No, you dont need any notary. Just have the recent tax return or 2, proof of employment ie W2's, bank statements, the more you sit and agonize the worse it gets, just keep it simple and send in what they need.

Fiance ones are the I-134 and you give him that and package 2 forms which is on the London embassy website you can download there. Fiance is this one, you need to send him your financial stuff with that so he can show the London folks at the interview.

Hello,
Was wondering if anyone has any experience on joint sponsors, our nephew met a American girl who doesnt meet the income requirements and we found out that we can be a joint sponsor for him, do you think SHE still has to meet the income guidelines even though she has us doing a joint sponsor form for them?
I remember 20 years ago I came in with a joint sponsor being my ex didnt make enough, but who knows if they need the primary to make it or not nowadays.
Any feedback on this?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa and EAD at the same time??

I wasnt planning on entering through JFK, but i have heard that if you enter through JFK in New York, they always give you the EAD work permit stamp? is this true? or are there any forms you can fill prior to arrival so that you can have the EAD upon arrival on the K1
Thanks

Definitively, no. If you want immediate EAD you must enter through JFK and get the EAD stamp. Make sure to ask for it or insist on it if necessary. If working right away is that important to you and you can actually work right away if legal, then it is worth it to arrange your entry through JFK making sure not to travel through any foreign airport Dublin for example) where you would clear US Customs before your JFK arrival.

Thanks alot
Do you know why JFK? Are there any other airports across the states where this policy is also the case?
