Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChanging my name upon removal of conditions

Hello Everyone,

I'm going to apply for removing conditions in September but I'm really confused about changing my name. I still have my maiden name and in Maine, I can't change it to my husband's name until I get it changed on my green card. I went to the SSN office to try and they refused cause my green card has my maiden name regardless of my marriage certificate. My question is..when I apply for removal, do I put my husband's family name instead of my maiden name and they'll simply use that on my new green card if all goes well? All our evidence is with my maiden name (car insurance, registration, lease, car ownership, etc. The only place that allowed a name change based on my marriage certificate is our bank so I have my husband's family name on our joint account in addition to any cards we get from friends. Will that cause confusion? Should I send a copy of my passport with my maiden name to eliminate confusion?

Another question I have is about evidence submitted when I applied for AOS. I didn't submit any pictures or such since I didn't have to send it in. I only had to take it with me to the interview and they kept none of it. Can I send in some of the photos and evidence they saw then in addition to new evidence or not? Is there going to be an interview?

Any advice is appreciated.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC Package...anything else I should add?

Thank you! I included statements from January and June for the past two years, that should be enough right? As far as our lease is concerned, it was only for a year and then it automatically went to monthly and that's stated in the lease.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC Package...anything else I should add?

Because it's something that we share, families and couples have pets together that they love and he's part of our family, we submitted this as part of our evidence during our AOS interview as well and it's a valid piece of evidence. It was also one of the questions the IO asked us, if we had any pets.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC Package...anything else I should add?

Hello Everyone!

Getting ready to submit for ROC on September 7th, 2013. This is what I have so far:

1. 6 Affidavits of Support

2. Apartment Lease in both our names

3. Bills with proof of same address (TV, Electricity, Internet, Verizon family plan, DeadRiver). All these have the same address but are in one of our names (i'm assuming that's okay).

4. B-day, Anniversary cards, Invitations addressed to both of us.

5. Insurance card with me and my husband as members (we work at the same company)

6. Joint Bank Account with statements from checkings and savings spanning over the past 2 years in addition to letter from the bank stating when we opened the account together

7. We just recently found a house to purchase and our closing date is October 14th, 2013 so I'm including our Mortgage papers with my as a co-buyer, and our pre-approval from the mortgage company, our purchase and sales agreement too. Also our agreement with our Realtor signed by both of us. I also have correspondences between us and our Realtor and Mortgage Broker.

8. Papers proving that my husband had a vasectomy reversal so we can start a family (receipts, papers from the hospital)

9. Around 60 pictures of us, family, friends, etc.

10. Our Renter's insurance policy in both our names.

11. Our joint tax returns for the past 2 years

12. Car registrations for 3 cars, one we sold and two we have now. Also we are financing the 2 cars we have now and i'm the co-buyer on both.

13. A promissory note addressed to both of us from an acquaintance promising to pay us back an amount of money we lent her.

14. Medical document stating my husband is my designated driver after my procedure was done.

14. Driver's licenses for both me and my husband as proof of same address.

15. Letter from our company stating that we are each others' beneficiaries on our life insurance policies.

16. Document showing that my husband is my emergency contact at work.

Any thoughts of stuff I should add are welcome, thank you idea9dv.gif

I am aware of that, it wasn't for protection against them, more of a precaution in case the package gets lost which has happened before. It's no big deal, I was just asking, I haven't sent it yet. Thank you.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBank Statements

Hello,

I have joint bank statements for our checking and savings accounts as part of our ROC package. My question is whether or not I can black out the account number on the statements without them rejecting it as proof. The account clearly has both our names on it and I also have a letter from the bank to back that up. Any thoughts or should I just leave the number showing?

Do I have to list her or is it just for OUR children together? Please help.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChange of Address after sending in ROC

Hello! I did a change of address online after I submitted my ROC, Since you already received your NOA then I would use the receipt # on the NOA (it should be on there). I only did it for myself (the GC-holder), your husband doesn't need to submit an update (I asked this question myself too when I did the change). Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the AR-11 is for non-citizens only. Once you complete Step 1, the website will ask if you have pending petitions and you can select yes or no and then it will request for your receipt # etc. (if I remember correctly).

Just an FYI, if you normally use a non-Internet Explorer browser I would suggest switching to Internet Explorer for the online form, otherwise you are fine. The form doesn't work with non-Internet Explorer browsers - I tried it with Chrome and it didn't work.

Also, I have read people have speculated that changing the address after submitting the i-751 can trigger an RFE. I did receive one so be prepared to get one - unless you can already submit evidence you are living in the new residence as an amendment (I read somewhere you can do that?) before getting an RFE.

Also another FYI after getting the RFE, my receipt # changed. So when I used the online notification system I had to use the RFE receipt # and it does show that I requested for an address change.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, actually the AR-11 has the option to choose whether your are a citizen or a resident so I was confused. When we moved the first time we sent a notification that we both moved and I believe it was required so I'm thinking it's required now as well. I sent my mortgage papers and put in the cover letter that we are moving when our closing date comes so I made them aware of the move. I hope this doesn't cause an RFE.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChange of Address after sending in ROC

Hello everyone,

So we began our journey to remove conditions and I received my NOA. My husband and I bought a house and we're moving in this weekend. I know I'm required to notify USCIS of a change of address which I've done in the past. On the website it says that we can do this change of address online

Have any pending OR recently approved applications or petitions (except for VAWA, T or U visa); you need to complete two steps

AND

 • Step 2: Change your address on any pending or recently approved applications or petitions (online OR by phone at 1-800-375-5283)

Use our convenient Online Change of Address system to complete steps 1 and 2 at the same time. Once you complete Form AR-11 online - the system will also provide you the opportunity to change your address on any pending or recently approved applications. If you use our Online Change of Address to complete Form AR-11, you do NOT need to file a paper Form AR-11.

I know that I can complete steps 1 and 2 in the same form so I only have to fill it out once (please correct me if I'm wrong), but does my husband the US citizen have to fill this out too since he sponsored me during AOS? We don't have our receipt number yet since I haven't received the biometrics appointment. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Okay I'll try a third time, the first thing they ask me is if I updated my address online and I didn't lie, I told them I did and they shut me down right then and there telling me to wait. I've called twice already. I asked both agents what number to use and they both didn't know. I'll try calling again. I'm nervous about mail getting lost..

I did try and call, they said they couldn't see anything regarding my change of address and because I changed it online to wait for the letter in the mail within 30 days..they weren't very helpful, so the bio number is the one I should use?

I am still in the process where I just have the biometrics letter and the NOA. The biometrics number did not work and the NOA number did. Why did you get an RFE, what did it say? That you entered the wrong number?

I just changed my address online and when I entered my receipt number like it asked, it gave me an error that it doesn't match their records?? What does that mean? Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTransferred from Vermont to California

I'm sure tons of people have had their cases transferred over to California..is this because of the overload in Vermont? I saw the average processing times are very different. California is around 6 months and Vermont is around 3. And I was hoping this would end soon cray5ol.gif I suppose I'm in the same boat as everyone else and should be happy that I'm here and have a great job with my great husband. I hope everyone is staying strong during their waits.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDon't know if I should be concerned...I-751

Hi all,

We submitted our application on 9/5/13 and were transferred to another Service Center on 10/8/13 which has happened to a lot of folks here so that's not a concern. My concern is that we moved after filing and notified USCIS of our change of address, but we also changed banks because the other bank was too far from where we moved. I included joint statements from our bank for the past 2 years (quarterly) but if they look into the bank now they'll find that the accounts have been closed. I've seen many applicants get approved that applied way after I did and got transferred just like me. I just don't know if I should be concerned or not. All of our other info stayed the same (joint car loans, bills, tax returns, pictures etc) and we have tons of financial proof. Our binder was over 100 pages. I know the normal processing times are 6 months but I don't understand why others are getting approved before me. I did get an official letter in the mail telling me that they logged my change of address so I hope that covers that..if anyone has insight please chime in.

Thank you

Card arrived in the mail today and I officially have my husband's name at laaaaaaaaaaast! Now to start the name changing journey dancin5hr.gif By the way, I got emails every step of the way and it updated on the site; I got a tracking number and the status on the site changed from 30 days to expect it within 7 days. The final email was that it was delivered.

Yes I was approved without an interview .An interview for ROC doesn't happen with everyone, but they may still ask to interview you.

Does anyone know when the USPS tracking number that I've seen mentioned in other months' threads comes into play?

This is what it says on the USCIS site right now:

"On January 21, 2014, we mailed the new card directly to the address we have on file. You should receive your new card within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

When a tracking number is available (when USPS has it), your case status will update on the USCIS site and say something like this:

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

The USPS reported that they picked up mail from USCIS containing your new card on xxx. The USPS tracking number assigned is #DCN. You can use this number at www.usps.com to view updates to the delivery status of your mail. You should receive your new card within 7 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, please call our customer service at 1-800-375-5283.
