K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWe got the interview date!!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone :D :D Yeah I'm excited, but now I'm trying to decide if Shane should buy his tickets now as I see no reason we should be denied or if he should wait. I'm afraid he won't be able to find a cheap ticket for when he wants to fly out as he is pretty much leaving 3 days after he gets his visa, but then I'm afraid on the off chance he doesnt get his visa he'll lose his money :(

And thanks Lorelle :)

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmad at Bank of America - RANT
Well I printed all my statements out, tried to have the bank notarize a statement, they refused to do it, all they would do was print out a paper showing my accounts and the bank officer signed that. I just wrote a note stating what happened but all my bank statements are there for my 4 accounts since I opened it last May and all my other information is there for my affidavit. I don't even know if I'll have Shane take the printout from the bank with the signature as it doesn't show anything but my current balances. I don't know if its worth bringing to the embassy. Guess it doesn't hurt to include it right? I hope that's okay with them. Otherwise we'll have to wait until I get the bank letter and then send it to Shane

No I'm not sure, it just lists it on stuff to submit in the instructions for the I-134. But I don't know if the consulate requires it. I have everything else for my I-134 including letter from my employer, tax return, pay stubs and the like. I'm afraid if I don't have it in there they'll want it though. I thought about just doing what Mary suggested or just printing out all my statements and having them notarize it but dunno if I can cancel my request. I'll call and see.

Well, as long as he could get it to them by the time he will be leaving which is March 4th, he has like almost a week to get it to them before he'd need to leave. He can overnight it to them if I was able to get it to him that week and he could always go to Sydney the day before to pick up his Visa (but they have to take a day to process it right? :( )or give them the document and stay the night to fly out the next day though hotels are expensive........hmmmm maybe there's hope LOL We'll see I guess how long it takes.

I seriously doubt they'll do anything to make it faster. I'm sure if I called headquarters they wouldn't have a clue what I was talking about, I dunno. ARGH Frustrating. I don't know if in Australia they would make a fuss over the letter since I have more than enough evidence of my income but I'm sure if it wasn't there they'd ask about it. :crying:

I didn't ask and I'm sure I'd have gotten a big fat no. Most places wont let you pay extra for expedited anything. Its not the money that pissed me off, its the fact that they can't do anything themselves at the damn bank, ANY correspondence has to come from headquarters. Its stupid. How freaking hard is it to type a letter in word and print it on company letterhead? I could type the letter myself at home. Thats the frustrating part. Why can't they do it in the office? They aren't trusted to handle anything ?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresmad at Bank of America - RANT
I'm soooo mad at them. I went in today to get my bank letter for my affidavit of support thinking they type it right there and give it to you but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. They have to send a request to the main headquarters for it and you have to pay 20.00 per account (i have two checking accts) for them to type a freaking letter. So it supposedly takes 3 business days to process it then 7-10 days to mail it. Our interview is on the 28th of this month. Now I'm freaking out I'm not going to get it in time to send with him for his interview or if we do I'll be cutting it close. No matter what I'm going to have to spend a ####### load of money to get it to him fast in 1-3 business days. ARGH I wish I'd known they don't do it there or I'd have done it like a month ago.   :ranting: :ranting:

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVERY upset and confused
They want a certified copy of it, not a photocopy, but a ceritified copy with the stamp and a signature (almost like notarization but the clerk at the courthouse does it not a public notary) from the courthouse that issued it. It's impossible to get the original as that has to stay on file at the courthouse. Hope that helps.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHusband washed passport with all stuff inside...
YIKES!!!!!! :crying: My husband accidentally washed his passport, with his visa, I-94, etc all inside of it. We were going to file for AOS soon but you need copies of all this stuff. Its pretty much ruined. I know you can order another copy of your I-94, and we found out how to replace his passport, but how do we go about replacing his K-3 visa? The only thing I can find says he has to go back to Australia. Is this true? If so we totally screwed because we cannot afford that and two, how can he exit and leave the country? Would we need to wait for his new passport and I-94 to prove that he is a Resident Alien and can leave and reenter? Any help you have is appreciated. Thanks !!!!! :)

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHardship expedition of K-3 / CR-1 visa?
I'm sorry for what you are going through but a lot of people have health issues, and I bet some are WAY worse than yours. You are no more special than ANYONE else that has to go through this process. I have fibromyalgia, sometimes I can't even move when I get out of bed, and I still do, I'm a single parent, have been since almost the start, and I have NO ONE to leave my kid with as his father lives on the other side of the state and never sees him. I'd never even think that I in some way with medical problems were special enough to have my case expedited. I doubt they'd find any reason to expedite your case because of health issues. I'm sure people going through this have cancer things such as that and would not get their case expedited. I'm sorry if I sound harsh but it seems kind of ridiculous to think that your case should get pushed ahead of other people's just because you have high blood pressure and have a tough time being a single parent. Join the club, its not easy being a single parent, and many people do it while dying of cancer. Just accept you'd have to wait like everyone else does or do DCF.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFrustruated
I don't think whether or not you used a lawyer speeds your process up, for some here using a lawyer slowed the process down because they screwed things up. I think some applications are chosen for a more extensive background check, name check or whatever, or its received by a person that processes much slower than others. Whatever the case I wouldn't worry now, I wouldn't worry until after it says its passed your NOA1 date by 30 days. Then you can complain :)
ChickyNot TellingAustralia2006-01-29 18:00:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFrustruated
Yeah I don't see the need to get impatient and vent after not even a month has passed, I was still happy to have the process started at that time frame, I didn't complain until about 90 days in (and I never really complained as it was in the processing timeframe which I expected and others had waited LONGER than me) and then filed my I-129F for K-3, plus I had to wait 3 months to file my I-130 because I didn't have the money to file :(

I think you could vent about the process itself but not about your "extremely long" waiting period of 19 days.

Ok, group. It is my turn to ask for advice/help again. I, too have "experts" that are telling me things (by experts, I refer to Russian women friends that are in my hometown). The I-134 "Affidavit of Support" clearly states that tax records are only needed if you are self employed. I did not send tax records to my fiance'e because I am employed. I sent four months worth of pay stubs, a copy of my W-2, a letter from my employer, a letter from my bank, and current copies of my IRA account.

I'm being reamed right now from the "experts" because I didn't send my 1040. Should I send the 1040?

Any input would be helpful.

I am sending to Masha all of the above including the 06 and 07 tax records. I don't want any surprises. Your interview date is 6/30 so you have time. Why taking a chance? You could scan them and send them to her by email...

This is what I would do.... Best luck to you good.gif

Thanks for the input aspettando.

Oh, by the way. It was a misunderstanding on my part about the types of passports that Russians have. It was translated to me and I think some of the meaning was lost in the translation. My Natasha has an international passport besides the one she uses internally to travel within Russia.

Does anyone know if she should get her police record now, or wait until we have the interview scheduled?

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRussia Specific FAQ
Hello, group. I normally don't post here but I thought this would be interesting to some of you.

I sent an anonymous email to the US Embassy in Moscow. Here is the question I asked: "I was told that I could call the US Embassy in Moscow and see if there were any visa appointments that may have been canceled so that possibly my appointment could be moved up into that time slot. This information was told to me by a reliable friend. However, other people have told me that if I ask this question of you that it would actually delay my appointment even more.

I do not wish to impose any hardship on the personnel there. I just would like to know if my appointment could be moved up if there happens to be a cancellation.

Thank you for your attention to this question."

Now, I don't know if the embassy there is staffed by Russians or by Americans, but the answer I received back (if you can call it an answer) was of no help at all. Here is the reply I received:

"To consider this option, we need to know the applicant's full name, DOB, the case number and the reason of rescheduling

Sincerely,
Public Liaison Unit
Consular Section
US Embassy, Moscow"

Has any of you had any success in rescheduling? Or do you think it futile (and possibly destructive) for me to ask?

Thanks for answering so quickly, Jeffery. So then I must ask: Natasha does not yet have an international passport. Must she get one before filing out the DS-156, or should she just write "None" in the spaces on the form?

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusRussia Specific FAQ
I need help on a small item. Hopefully someone out there knows the answer.

My fiance'e must fill out the DS-156, "Electronic Visa Application Form". The first question asks for the passort number, place it was issued, expiration date, etc. It seems in Russia they have two internal passports issued to each citizen- a passport that allows them to travel between cities, and a passport that allows them to travel further distances within Russia. I know that my fiance'e will also need an international passport in order to come to the US.

So my question is this: Which passport information are they asking for on the DS-156?

I'd appreciate any input. Thanks in advance.

A few days ago, I was perusing several different threads on this site looking for something in particular (my goal was specific in my search). I remember seeing a post about calling the US Embassy in Moscow to see if there were any cancellations and possibly getting the interview date scheduled sooner. At the time, I wasn't particularly looking for this information and didn't want to get sidetracked. Now, I'm interested and can not remember where I saw this post.

Anyone remember seeing it?

QUOTE (Nich-Nick @ Apr 20 2008, 03:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Would like some feedback from people who have done this form and been to the Consulate interview.

Form DS-156, Question 17: Marital status=Divorced (got that okay)

Question 18: Spouse's Full Name (Even if divorced or separated. Include maiden name.)

I've researched other sites and found some who say, put NONE if a K1 visa. But why would it bother to say "even if divorced or separated" if they didn't want the name.

Anybody here who actually did or did not list the ex-spouse on this form? What were your results (especially those in London)?

Thanks!

If you are filling the form out for your finace'(e), then put your finace'(e)'s ex-spouse's name on q.17 LAST name in all caps, followed by first name and middle initial (fist letter capitalized).

If you are filling the form out for yourself, put YOUR ex-spouse's name in same format (LAST NAME, First name)

If there is none, then state "None".

HELP!!!!

If there's anything in life that will teach patience, this is it. Take a look at my timeline, you'll see that I went MONTHS with no touches. It is very frustrating. Even more so because I was sent an RFE and I overnighted the info back to them immediately. The RFE packet said that it could take up to two MORE months before a decision is made.

Sooooooo, just be patient. There is a long road ahead, and remember that it will take time.
