K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresafter marrying my fiance...can i claim him as my dependent?
I believe it all depends on your accountant , If he not working and you are taking caring of him and expensive I believe you can add him as a dependent but I'm not sure if you can file your taxes as married.... So that something you would want to find out with your accountant, and see what he would suggest.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstarting to despair...
Sadly to say, yes this is one hard process, but one must go through to be with there loved ones, unfortunately we can't tell our hearts where to fall in love, but this is the choices we have chosen to make in order to be with our loved ones, But this is kind of a good opportunity to test our faith and get to know better our husbands/fiances... Some relationships grow apart other grow stronger... All I can tell you is try to focus don't think about the process so much, as time pass the process will see to go by faster.... Always thing positive and things will work out well. Try to maintain a great communication with you fiance, encourage each other daily that everything will be fine, and the soon you guys will be together.....

I wish you the best of luck in this process as WE ALL here on VJ are either going through the same emotional, overwhelming, frustration, headache and soul ache of this process and those who have pass the stage can surly relation exactly what we are going through. Smile, and know VJ is your second family here rooting everyone one for a smooth process....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Newbie

My boyfriend and I met in 2007. Things did no go past a few romantic dates and kisses. My vacation to DR was pretty quick that summer. After that we kept in touch but things took a twist in July of 2009 when we saw each other after two years. This is when the relationship really initiated. When 2010 came along we both decided that we would concentrate in school and took a break from the relationship. During that break our lives continued and we even saw other people. I dated someone for a few weeks, did not take precaution and conceived my baby. The last time I saw this person was at 7 weeks pregnant. His preference was abortion, mine was not. Long story short he has never been in the babies life and does not appear on the birth certificate. My BF was hurt, however once the baby was born in May 2011 and I traveled to DR again in July 2011, we were able to talk things through and decided to give it another shot. The baby and I went to visit again for spring break in March of this year.

I guess my question is, because there was a baby conceived in between the relationship and there was a break can we still apply for the K-1. In July of next year it will be two years that we decided to take on the relationship. We hardly have any pictures of that time because I had just given birth and was not feeling the pics!!! But I plan to go again in December and we will deff. have lots of pics. I also have chat records from 2009, phone records from 2009 forward, chat records from March of 2012 forward (this is when I finally purchased a Blackberry), letters, hotel receipts etc etc.

I just want to know if I have the green light to start our case. Sorry for the long post and thanks for any feedback! I am new to all this and am grateful to have found this site!!!

Your baby should be a concern, thing happen, and although you guys went you separate ways at one point, the requirement is having meant physically in person within two (2) years which you both have... I recommend when filing your K-1 just make sure to explain how and where you guys meant and make sure to include the dates you guys meant (with 2yrs) And for as proof although you don't have many picture, just try to get a few of yous guys together, as for the proof you have of chat longs, call records, all this is very good proof to send in with you application.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew to this -- have some questions
Generally it is really up to you on which route you decide to take whether is K1/K2 or CR1/IR1. They are both taking about the same time right now in processing. I not to sure if Mexico you can do DCF (direct filing) i suggest you do some reading here on this forms, and get yourself familiarized with it. Read as much as you can so you can understand the process.

Good Luck!

Sadly but true.... If you look at igor's list, it showing that April petition are getting worked on. although they say 5 month it doesn't necessary mean that... 5 Month is there "GOAL". I just hope that all turns around at its given time and they start approving them. This sucks!!!! :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa Requirement
You don't entrar need a lawyer with VJ you will find all the info. You need to know many and many of us are doing/did this process on our own and have successful brought our husband/fiance is here with out the help of a lawyer waste of time and money in my opinion own.

Now as for him yell you guys to marry in Dr first he was probably saving you a couple of buck in you pockects... This is a choice of preference... You marry if you like or you file K1 and marry money in the states here. Where there is more paperwork involved and it doesnt stop at ok we are married that's it... You have to apply for a green card for her and a social security card etc... The are the benefit when you get married you paid for to get all in one shot.

As for time length they are both at the same time not 5/6 months to get the petition approve. Before its of to you consulate for a interview date (the real approval of visa process)

You came to the right please we are here to help just read the guides on K1 and you will see you will have you fiance soon...

PS you do not have to know the person for two years but you must have to meet once within two year before filing you petition. Original documents needed ..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter of Intent question
You both must do an intend letter! For the Beneficiary the letter will apply " i intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa." For the petitioner just remove the " i intend to do so within 90 days of my arrival into the US using the K-1 visa." because he is the American and lives in the states and isn't the one getting the visa... Therefore he will just write he is Free and willingly to marry.

Thank u reese!! My felllow dominicans are so helpful to me!! :D
Did u ready start filling them out? I see ur so close to that step!

As reese1 explain you can start filling in the forms yourself, if you look at the right hand corn I believe is at the bottom of the page sometime the forms have expiration dates on them, What I did was I filled out the forms myself for my husband and had him sign whatever needed his signature, Other then that you should be good on this end... As for the I-134 yes DR embassy for some reason required the I-864 what you can do as well better safe then sorry is just fill both of them out just in case this will be a big time saver. As for the financial evidence your taxes, pay stub , saving (optional) will show great proof.

Me personally I don't think is never to late to start preparing yourself.. You're doing the right thing... I started preparing myself about a month after I filed and look now.... I had all supporting documents ready to go without delay.
So you in the right path!!!!

Sorry to hear this reese1 sounds very much frustrating and I myself would have properly lost my cool as well especially NOT knowing the whereabouts of your file, and getting told different things.... Cause it don't not add up how on 10/29 pkg 3 was sent and then the rep tell you that she maybe someone did something in the system to finagle something????? No!! I wouldn't suggest sending anything in as this may delay the process, What I would recommend is having her fix the issue on the passport, as this can be a problem. You can call and let them know of the inconvenience or just wait to receive a RFE and then you can provided them with a copy of the letter explaining the issue.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about rescheduling

So This what's up. When I found out the day of my interview, I went to my supervisor and ask him if I can have that day and day before off and I am schedule 3 days before and two days afterwards off. So all I need is those two days. The day of the interview and the day before. (I work 12 hour shift manufacturing, so you know long hours, less days). He said yes if I can get someone to come in to replace me. (because during the christmas and new year's holiday we can not request days off because the company shut down on the 24, 25,26 and 27.) So I was like cool. I booked my plane, reserved my hotel, reserved a rental and paid for my parking space at the airport. So I got ready to go to work today. I called my fiance to remind him I will see him in two weeks , just because I am excited. I get to work to come and find out the guy that is suppose to cover me those today got fired yesterday and my surpervisor said that I have to work. I asked around seeing if someone will cover me but nothing. So I can call out because he already know and plus it's my job that will be providing the income for my fiance and his kids and myself, I can not just not show up to the interview nor cancel. The worst of them all is that the interview is 10 days away. Can you schedule interviews and if yes, is my reason even a good reason for them to reschedule? How long do I have to wait this time if they do decide to rechudle. I waited so long now.

Hey, sorry that you are going througj this, but have you thought of keeping the date and just having your fiance go down on his own? I have heard in some cases that the petitioner has to be there but I have also heard/seen in some cases where the ben. Attend the interview on his/her own and takes all support documents, and explains to the IO the reason why petitioner was unable to attend the cita. In some case it has worked out well and in some cases they have resched. The interview so petitioner could be there. I would consider to speak with your fiance if he is comfortable of doing on his own. If not see if you can get it for a later date. I wish you nothing but the best and hope all works out well for you!
