Asia: East and PacificMedical fees for Immigrant Visa

HI Everyone!
I am soon doing my medicalexam at tokyo. Its either Seibo, or british clinic. Does anyone know How much it gonna cost me for medical exam and vaccination? I hope I can hear some experience about this so i can get ready for the finances before traveling...while waiting for my other documents to come.

I had my medical at British Clinic. You need to set an appointment first before you can have your medical, they will tell you the prices for everything you need. I paid 53,497 yen: 25,000 yen for the visa examination and 25,950 for the immunisation plus 2,547 tax. This is their website Tokyo British Clinic

Asia: East and PacificMedical Examination TYO

Dear all,
Hope everyone is having a nice day.
I have a question regarding medical examination/vaccination. The embassy listed three clinics for the medical examination in Tokyo area, and I contacted all three of them to compare the working hours, cost, etc, and turned out one clinic (Tokyo British Clinic) said that the only vaccine I need is MMR, since the T.dap is not available in Japan, but the other clinic said they had Tdap (especially imported from the US) and can give me one. I want to avoid unnecessary vaccination, so I wonder if it is OK not having the Tdap vaccine since the Tokyo British clinic said it's OK if I don't have Tdap?
Anybody with experience of having the medical examination in Tokyo who can give me a suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Hello there. I went to Tokyo British Clinic for my medical examination. I got MMR and influenza shots. I didn't have Tdap and the physician checked the "Not Routinely Available". I am sure the embassy is aware of this, so you should be fine :)

Asia: East and PacificWhere to get a Request Letter for a police certificate?? (Japan requires request)

I need a Japanese police certificate for my K-1 visa and to get one I need a request letter from the US embassy. I've read other people on this forum had to wait for their packet 3's before they could request their police certificate but that delays the whole process by 2-3 months since the Japanese police certificate takes 2-3 months to process!

I am in Japan now and I get the police certificate in person it only takes 2 weeks. Is there any way I could get the request letter right now?

Holliver is right, it won't take that long. Mine only took a week and I requested it after I got my NOA2. It might take 2-3 months for applicants requesting certificates outside Japan.

Hey everyone. I'm an American guy with a Japanese fiancee. Just wanted to make an introduction.

I guess the first thing I gotta do is send in an I-129F file, eh?

Are lawyers worth it?

Hello there. You don't need a lawyer, you can do it yourself. Start reading these guides: K-1 Guide, Tokyo Embassy Instructions. These example forms will also help you: Sample Forms

How long did it take to receive your visa through the post? I've been checking the tracking number but it still hasn;t been put in the post yet, gettting a little bit anxious. It's a week tomorrow since my interview.

I wasn't able to track mine either but I got the visa 3 days after. You will probably get yours this week.

My fiancee's interview is scheduled for 2/27! Had a bump in this LDR but she will be here in March if no issues with the interview:)

I noticed you got your NOA2 just a month after NOA1, was it expedited? Hold on there, you and your fiancee will surely be together this March, the interview stage is just a piece of cake :)

Thanks for all your help, interview went smoothly. Got approved. Yay.

That's really good news. Congratulations!

OK, good advice, thank you. Phew, my boyfriend got his tax transcripts, just need to print them off. Yes, Monday is Lincoln day I think. Did you fill in a DS-157? It's only needed for men and people born in certain countries, right?

Yup, you don't need DS-157.

And oh, if you didn't memorize your fiance's address and phone number, write it down in a piece of paper so you won't have to go through all your documents when you fill out that piece of paper they will give to you before you enter the visa section. Good luck on your interview!

OK Thanks very much, really appreciate your quick response. I have a question about what to expect at the embassy - I know you aren't allowed to take in mobiles but do they take it off you when you go in or do i need to find a locker to put it in beforehand? How long did your interview take? Mines at 9.30 - is that the time to get in line or before then? Any other advice? Thank you

No problem. You don't have to find a locker, the guards will take your mobile. They have plastic trays where you can put your electronic stuffs. Switch off your phone and if you have any metals like keys and coins you also have to put them in a tray for the security screening. My appointment was 8:30 but I arrived an hour earlier. I suggest you go to the embassy 30-45 minutes earlier and don't forget to bring your appointment letter. You're not allowed to bring food or drinks but don't worry they have a vending machine inside :) The interview has 3 stages: pre-screening, fingerprinting, and the actual interview. The entire process took 2 hours for me but most of those times were spent waiting for my number to be called, the actual interview only took 5 minutes though.

Your interview is on Tuesday right? Is it holiday on Monday?

So, you didnt need transcripts? What did you give as evidence? What did they ask for?

Yes, I have employment letter and recent paystubs

Thanks for your help

My case was a bit different. My fiance make enough money for 2 people but we still had a co-sponsor, his dad. We submitted his dad's affidavit of support including the evidence(transcripts, W2s, bank statement, employment letter)beforehand. I brought my fiance's tax transcripts, W2, employment letter and pay stubs on my interview but they didn't really look at it. When they sent my visa they also returned my fiance's affidavit of support. It's weird but his dad was my sponsor, I guess.

Just bring the W2s with you, in case they need the tax transcripts you could just send it to them afterwards. But yeah don't worry too much, Tokyo embassy's staffs are really nice. You will be fine!

Starting to stress as my boyf ordered his tax transcript, but it never arrived. He called them today and ordered a new one but i'm worried it wont arrive in time for my interview. I have his W2s. Do you have your fiance's employment letter and pay stubs? I wonder if you checked Tokyo embassy's website, I simply followed their instructions when I assembled my documents. Check this link Affidavit of Support, they listed the documents you need to provide to verify your fiance's income. Good luck on your interview :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTokyo Embassy Request for Interview

Hey all!

I have a question about the form to fill out for setting up the interview appointment at the embassy.

Question 8 on this page here -> http://japan2.usemba...pptrequest.html asks for an intended date of travel ( I assume to the US ). At the beginning of the page they recommend that you do not make any travel plans until after the interview... so I am a little confused on what they actually want here.

Are they wanted just a grey-area guess on when you think you might want to go to the U.S. or are they asking in case you already have a date set up? Are they trying to use this to base a sense of urgency?

What have other people put for this question?

I appreciate any input.

Thanks.

Like Yagisama, the date I put was just a guess of when I could fly to US. Just make sure it's within six months of the visa's possible date of issuance.

US Citizenship General DiscussionDoes the clock for Citizenship eligibility reset when you leave the country for two years?

Hello guys. I am trying to help a friend determine if she's eligible to apply for citizenship but my knowledge about this matter is limited. My friend is ready to send her paperwork but one of our co-workers told her that she is not eligible yet because she was out of the country for over six months. Below is her timeline.

1995 - Came to the US on a student visa

1999 - Got married to a US citizen

9/18/2001 - Became a resident

2006 - Husband was stationed in South Korea

2007 - She found out that her husband was cheating on her so she filed for divorce.(The husband had a baby with the other girl). Soon after her divorce was finalized, she went back to Thailand and work there for six months and eventually went to Australia to get her MBA.

2009 - Flew back to the US

She had lived in the US for over 10 years and was married to a US citizen for seven years before she left the country. Does she have the required credentials for citizenship or she actually have to wait until 2015?

Thank you. I'd really appreciate your assistance.

I need help!!! I have no idea how many NSO certifications I need. Maybe I need to get 2 copies? One for the passport and one for the U.S. Embassy? How about my NBI clearance? Do I need more?

The embassy will ask for your birth certificate and CENOMAR issued by NSO. You also need one birth certificate for your passport application. For NBI clearance, you can use any valid government issued ID but if you don't have any you need NSO birth certificate as well.

Philippinesk1 denied

I had my interview today and it was really devastating. The application was denied due to no evidence of ongoing relationship. I have showed the CO phone bills, itinerary, letters, emails, chat logs and pictures. She kept on asking me, "Anything else you can show me to prove your ongoing relationship?". She didn't even want to take the chat summary. I just told her that's all I have. She gave me back the original documents and kept the photocopies. I asked if we can appeal, she said "No appeal, other option is you get married." Just like that. :(

We don't know what else can we do. My fiance was writing an email to the embassy here but I stopped him from doing so. I thought maybe you guys can give us an idea what will be our next step.

THANK you!

I am sorry to hear that. Just wondering, were you able to answer all the questions asked by the CO?

PhilippinesRacist neighbor ???

OK, have to defend my H-D buddies.... Harleys are not the only loud motorcycles out there. My previous bike was quite loud, the one I have now I have not gotten wild with the pipes....... yet.....

My father-in-law owns Harley and he calls it "his baby", lol! I don't really hate it I just don't like loud motorcycles.
EmmysaurFemalePhilippines2012-05-25 12:44:00
PhilippinesRacist neighbor ???

I'm living here now for 4 years and I'm not really friends of any our neighbors, which is I honestly dont care. I am not in this country for them LOL. But we say typical " Hi and Hello and how are you ? :-h " everytime I seen them outside of the driveway. But we have this one neighbor across the street that so different. Never ever talk to her even ONCE. She is living by her self, driving BMW car and about in her late 50's. My husband told me that the first day that he moved in this house, this woman yelled at those mexican guys that he hired to help him move the furnitures, coz they talked loud and joked with each other. My husband also have a Harley Davidson bike that he ride during summer time only. It's understandable everytime she shut her garage, front door and windows of his house when my husband ride his bike coz it's really loud.

We have a 2 story house, and its a nice day here today. So I open our windows in our room, happened that it's facing also in to the windows of her room. Anyway, our 4 months old daughter already start rolling over from back to her belly, but can't roll yet from belly to her back. I dont want to leave my baby in alone for more than 5 minutes when she's up coz I am worried that she may start rolling over and god forbid burry her face in a mattress. So anyway, I took a shower and I put my baby in her bouncer and took her with me in a bathroom. We have this glass door in the shower room so she can actually see me while I was taking a shower. She started screaming and babbling alot and loudly, and lot more of screaming through the entire time that I was in the shower. She love water, so thought she may also want to take a bath or shower with me. SO I took her out of her bouncer and gave her a bath in her small bathtub in same bathroom. She scream more coz now she's happy and enjoyed the water. So when we finally done got out the shower and dried up, I put down my baby in our bed, and I went to her room to grab a clothes for her. My daughter still babling and still screaming, not a crying scream, but a happy playmode scream lol. So I guess our neighbor across the street had enough of my baby, She slammed her windows down, and shut the blinds ! ####### ! I have no control of her action and dont give a f**ck if she hates us, but with my 4 months old daughter ???
Sorry, just venting ! I guess I am upset... even if I call my mother about it, she wont understand. Coz in my country almost all neighbors there is like your all extended family lol. I may will just sugest to my husband to accept the offer the job that he got in Albany, NY and MOVE.

I personally don't like Harley motorcycles because of the fact that they are too loud (Harley lovers please don't hate me :)) but your neighbor seemed to be angry about anything(motorcycle, baby crying, loud Mexicans). Don't let her get to you, she probably has a miserable life.

I cannot really tell if my neighbors are racist or not. I have only been here for 4 months and I barely go outside the house.

P.S: Your baby is so pretty :)

Philippinesbad american or bad problem

Sorry I come and go right now. But i am dealing with a major problem in the village form a bad American.

the first time they met, he would not let her look at his passport, nor see his airline tickets or anything. She was not allowed to touch ANY of his belongings. (no engagement party) He spent the whole time basically drunk. He also invited people to drink with him but only bought them one bottle to share. He also told the girl he is engaged to, he will not bring her to the USA but leave her there in the village and help out. This guy also spent 3 days in the village nipa hut without a shower or shave and couldn't walk a straight line if he tried. He also did not eat any of the native food as well. (I don't like tamban or the "duck eggs", but I will try just about anything you put in front of me.)

He bought a boat for the family, with no engine. said they could paddle. Then bought them an engine. then nets. Just a little at a time, like watching what I did then copying what I did.

According to information from a very, very, very reliable friend of his, this guy has another girl who he fathered a daughter with in another part of the same island.

the next visit This guy fly's her from the village on a one way ticket. (He claims to be engaged to her, but said the only way to see him is her come to him in that part of the Philippines.) (again she is not allowed to touch his things)

They got in an argument about her family spending money on a gas stove and other things for the family. (now mind you, this guy sent money for a boat with no engine, told them they could paddle, then sent money for an engine, then nets, and some money for hte boat and home improvements.) He has been auditing every single penny sent to the her.

She walked away from him. Went to a cousin's house. and called her parents. Her mom took a ferry and went and got her. Her parents then brought her back to the village at their cost via the ferry.

the guy merely called to check to see if she was back in the village.

He is now in another city on the same island. According to information he is planning on taking the PNP to the village with him. Maybe he is afraid of her father. I do not know.

this guy has made it extremely clear to the village him and I do not get along.

i have ben trying to stay out of this situation, but I am getting dragged in. To me, this guy seems to be using the village naivete against them, plus since it is a remote village able to string them along as well for however long.

2. I tracked the numbers online.... amazing what you can find on the internet....I don't have access to the applications at the office.

(I try to stay out of it, but since the two girls are like sisters... I get dragged back in like a riptide.)

1) the only reason I got involved was:

A) I never heard of this guy until after engaged to my fiance.
B) He was the first person to befriend my fiance while I was in the air coming home.
c) His comments on FB made me think he was chasing "browntail" tuna and not in for a serious relationship. Besides, I spent a lot of time with "his" girl as our escort, I thought he might want answers to questions, or to know more about the village and her from me.
D) I just got engaged, I was curious to what was going on that I did NOT know about.
E) after getting my fiance to the states, she talked to him on the phone within a couple of days at the family house. He did not call her number or my number to talk with her, but waited until she was away from me. The family was sleeping at the time. It really raised my eyebrows on what was going on and should I be concerned. My wife and I had a long conversation then on her intentions. I explained to her how I felt about him, and left it alone after that.
F) this guy recently came up with some hair brained scheme to catch one tuna with a banka boat and run up to the Japan market to make money. He was going to bank the money and leave the village hanging. I refused to go in the venture with him which ended up with him cussing me out.
G) this guy sent money to the family INTENDING the money to be used for a business but the family used it for their needs. What was done, and what was INTENDED were not communicated.
h) This guy has been auditing all money spent and brought in by the boat he bought for the family. He wanted to know how much money was being made on a daily basis. He considered the boat his, and not the families.
I) the guy has stated he will not marry or bring the girl to the US but leave here there in the village. His intent is to have them work (boat/some girls run a sari-sari) while he lays on a beach drinking Mai-tai's, san Mig, and tanduay.
J) the two dads are brothers (my wife and this girl). So no matter how much I try to stay out of it. I still have issues to deal with in my in-laws because of what he is doing to the other family.
k) the village is a VERY, VERY close knit family. (think of Hatfields and McCoys) Even if you are not related to the other parts of the village, you are considered family. (of course there are a few exceptions.)
L) the girls are like sisters, if she ends up marrying this guy, I will no doubt be seeing a lot of him no matter where in the world they are. I was trying to extend friendship to someone who would be an extended part of the family.

After reading these posts, I realized that we are dealing with an American who has a really big problem (*points at you*). Like seriously, mind your own business. You cannot solve their problems.

PhilippinesDoes your wife know how to swim?

I know how to swim :) taught myself when I was in high school and still learning more cause I soooo love water..

You learned to swim on your own? That is cool, I am jealous! When I was in college I wanted to enroll in a swimming class for my physical education, unfortunately the university didn't offer swimming classes :(

Funny you brought this up. Just two months ago I was visiting my wife in Manila and our hotel had a pool. I was surprised to learn that she couldn't swim. Lucky for her the water wasn't very deep so she could play around and still have fun (in fact one of our pics in our profile shows us in the pool together). Good times!

Back then when we go to the beach or a pool we always bring tubes. I thought it was more fun floating with the tube than swimming, lol!

I had actually heard the stereotype that most Filipinos don't know how to swim. Well, my fiancee didn't know how when we first met, but I and a friend of her's have helped her in learning. She has come far and continuing to get better.

What I heard is the stereotype that Asians can't swim not exactly Filipino. It's great that your fiancee is learning quick. My fiance loves to swim so I might as well learn, he said learning to swim is a lot easier than learning to ride a bicycle. I really hope so.

I was so sure that most Filipinoes don't know how to swim but he(father in law) insisted that there's something wrong with the picture, a Filipino doesn't know how to swim :o I don't really know where he got his facts, it might be rude to ask. charles! could be right, it might be just an assumption that people who live in the Philippines can swim since the country is surrounded with bodies of water.

PhilippinesDoes your wife know how to swim?
The other night Wade's family was talking about going camping on memorial weekend. They told me all the activities we will do and mentioned swimming. I told them that I don't know how to swim and Wade's dad was really shocked. He was like "Are you sure you're a Filipino?!?!, Filipinoes are good swimmers". He said that it's a Filipino stereotype, well a positive stereotype.

I am curious if it's true. I don't know how to swim and I think only 5% of my friends know how. Even in the family, only my mother and my father know how to swim. How about your wife, does she know how to swim?

PhilippinesManila too dangerous for my fiancee to stay there...

I was texting with my finacee this morning and she told me that her family is very concerned about her safety if she stays in Manila for several weeks before getting on the plane for the US. We will be chatting about it online tonight my time to discuss it further.

She's never been to Manila and her family is really worried. Our plan is for her to make her permanent move once she leaves Mindanao and to stay in Manila until departure. It could take 3-4 weeks to get the medical, have the interview and wait for deliveries.

I texted her this morning that obviously hundreds, if not thousands of females stay there during this process without issue. But, I do know that these lone females need to be extra careful and to not go out at night.

Being 10,000 miles away makes it tough for me to help. Any suggestions?

It's normal for her family to worry about her safety. I myself, have never been to Manila(well, I've been but only inside the airport) and I don't think I wanna stay there for few weeks alone.

Can you have someone accompany her? Perhaps a family member, a friend, or a relative who isn't working.

PhilippinesInternet Love or not to Love?

There is no real difference between whether an Amerikano meets his future wife through a dating service or face-to-face in terms of the potential for fraud, given that in both situations, it is incredible that a woman would be so willing to give up everything she knows and leave it behind to spend her life with a man who is typically older than her, along with all the personal baggage he has. You only need to think about the likelihood that an older American male with relatively limited income would be able to attract a much younger woman from a First World Country - the chances are nil. Young Filipinas, by and large, who are eager and willing to marry these older American men are looking at marriage as a way out of poverty. That's the reality. The consulate recognizes this and most of these couples, if they are honest enough with themselves, know this as well. So whether you meet her through a dating service or face-to-face, there is always that factor - income inequality, that impacts the decision making process for the Filipina. Recognizing that would go a long way in helping these older American men avoid feeling they are being exploited for the 'green card.'

I agree with the bolded part Posted Image

Philippinespassport

hi guys! how are you all doing? Anyway, I have a question. :) while waiting for NOA 2, is it ok if I work on my passport already? my passport will expire on 2014. But then, I'm thinking to "renew" it coz I want to change my name already to my husband's last name. Since my passport is still named with my "single status" name.. I've read on the DFA website that the requirements are only Marriage Certificate in SECPA and the old passport. But then someone told me that I have to go first to CFO before I can change it since my husband is a US citizen. Is it true? If yes, how will be the process? Can somebody send me a link? Please someone help me so I know what to do. I am working on all my papers so when we get approved, atleast my papers are ready already. Thank you guys!! :)

-RESEARCH... RESEARCH.. RESEARCH..

The CFO website stated this:

Fiancee, Spouses and Other Partners of Foreign Nationals

What you need to know...

As Filipinos going abroad as fiancé(e)s, spouses or other partners of foreign nationals, you are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling session in order to secure the Guidance and Counseling Certificate (GCC) and the CFO sticker. You need this certificate to renew or apply for a new passport at the Department of Foreign Affairs (per Department of Foreign Affairs Order Nos. 11-97 Implementing Rules and Regulations for Republic Act 8239, "Philippine Passport Act" and 28-94). You will also need to present this certificate together with your spouse/partner visa, at the Immigration office at the international airport on your day of departure.

So yeah, you need to attend the seminar.

PhilippinesAge difference of fiance to fiancee?
Age used to matter to me when it comes to relationship. I never wanted to date someone 10 years older than me nor someone who is younger than me. Ironically, I ended up falling in love with someone younger. I met Wade from an online video game and fell in love with him without knowing his age. LOL! I was devastated when I found out that he is 6 years younger than me. It took me a while to get over it but eventually did, after I decided not to let the society tells me what's right or wrong =)

To those who filed k-1, what is the average age difference of a fiance to a fiancee? Is it a matter of desperation for such young girls to marry old guys? Is it for love or money?

PhilippinesPhilippine Fiance In Japan

Can you actually get the NBI report at the Phils Embassy in Tokyo? I am going thru the same thing. Fillipino Fiance living in Japan. We just got NOA2 mid August. Still waiting to hear from Embassy. How long after NOA2 did you get letter from embassy?

My fiance was told she will have to go to the Phils embassy in Tokyo to get the finger print form. Then send that to someone authorized in the Phils (family) to get her NBI report there. They did not say that she could actually get or even request the report from the embassy.

Hello Toby,

I am sorry for not clarifying the process involved in getting the NBI clearance, it has been a while. What was told to your fiance was correct. She can get the form from the embassy and mail it to someone in the Philippines. Or she could ask a relative in the Philippines to secure an application form for her, which I think will take longer.

I received the letter from the embassy almost a month after I got my NOA2. I highly suggest that she request her Japanese Police Certificate ASAP as it may take up to three weeks. She can start assembling her documents now, you can go to this website (http://cdn.ustraveld...p-niv-typek.asp), it has everything she needs.

Note: The Police Certificate from Japan is sealed. It should only be opened by the immigration officer.

Also I know the CENOMAR will need to be within 6 months, but the birth certificates are older... that is OK right or will she need knew ones with Red Ribbon?

Yes, the CENOMAR has to be within six months. She can use old birth certificate as long as it was issued by the NSO and she doesn't need the Red Ribbon.

She also needs to provide police certificates from Japan and the Philippines (NBI Clearance). She can get the NBI Clearance from the Philippines Embassy in Tokyo. To get the police certificate from Japan, she has to apply at the Prefectural Police Headquarters and bring the following documents with her: passport, alien card, and a copy of her NOA2.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIdeas to keep the love alive while waiting on visa

Consider things you can do together online besides just sitting and talking. Online gaming is a great way to have fun together while you talk. My fiancee and I play an MMORPG together (note the profile pic  ), which not only gives us a common activity, but also mutual friends... in fact it's how we met.

^ This B-) What online video game was it? Just wondering 'cause that's how I met my fiance too :)

You could also stream movies online while talking in Skype.
