US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPrinting out forms found in package given at embassy

Hello everyone!

I have a general question with respect to the forms given to my fiancee at the U.S. embassy. If I were to print those same forms online and fill them out exactly as directed, would they have any problem with me doing so?

My reason for asking is that upon looking over my fiancee's paperwork, I realized that one of the forms, specifically DS-230 part I, perhaps wasn't as neat as it should be, containing white-out and mediocre penmanship at points.

Are these reasons enough for printing another DS-230 and filling it out? Are there any risks or is this something I can freely do without worry?

Thanks so much in advance!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFilling out forms on behalf of my fiancée

Hello everyone!

I have a couple of questions regarding the forms to be brought by my fiancée to the US embassy in Beirut. The forms are as follows: DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-230 (part I).

I understand that DS-156 can be filled by another person on the fiancé(e)'s behalf, but most of what I've read on the internet seems to hint that the other two forms (DS-156K and DS-230) are to be filled by the fiancée. I have two questions regarding these forms:

1) Is it alright that I filled out ALL of the forms aforementioned for my fiancée? My fiancée was present during the filling of the forms and provided her signature upon their completion.

2) Should she bring two copies of DS-156 and DS-230? DS-156K is to be completed in duplicate for certain, if I'm not mistaken. What about the other two?

Thank you all in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee Visa for my Lebanese fiancee - some questions

Thank you so much! Your post was indeed very helpful. We'll get to collecting those documents right away then.

Does anyone else have any input on the issue of filling out my fiancee's name as it appears in the passport? Again, form DS-156 requests in item #7 that I type my fiancee's first and middle names as they appear on the passport. However, on Lebanese passports, no middle name is present. Should I include her middle name anyway (as I have in filling out all other forms during this process)?

Thank you!

Thank you for your response!

In Lebanon, the name of the father is treated as the middle name on nearly all documents. The only document I've seen in Lebanon where the name of the father wasn't mentioned is the passport itself, but that makes me feel as though I should omit her father's name in filling out DS-156, since they're asking for what's written on the passport. If anyone could reassure me, that'd be great.

I apologize for the double post, but I have one additional question:

4. On form DS-156, item #7, the form requests the first and middle name of the beneficiary as depicted on the passport. However, on Lebanese passports, no middle name is mentioned. Should I omit my fiancee's middle name, despite having written it on multiple occasions on other forms?

Thank you so much again!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancee Visa for my Lebanese fiancee - some questions

Hello all! I've read numerous threads on this forum prior to making this one, but this is my first formal post. I'd like to begin by saying that this forum has been endlessly and continuously helpful in making me understand the process of the K-1 visa. That being said, I have some questions specific to the case of myself (a U.S. citizen) and my Lebanese fiancee. Thank you all for any answers in advance!

1. I am currently in Lebanon alongside my fiancee. We went to the US embassy in Beirut yesterday and acquired her package with forms to be filled out including DS-156 (filled online), DS-156K, etc. Is it okay for me to fill these forms out for her with her next to me (and me explaining everything), and then have her sign? The English used is difficult for her to understand.

2. The package requests three documents whose names in Arabic we're having trouble identifying: civil record, family extract, police certificate. Does anyone know the names of these documents in Arabic?

3. I am currently a full-time student and do not have any income. I understand that a sponsor fills out the affidavit of support, is that correct? Should I include with my fiancee's package that she takes to the interview a letter written and signed by me that explains my circumstances and the sponsor's relationship to me?

Thank you again! And sorry for the long post. I look forward to reading your responses!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilling Form I-134 Affidavit of Support with no income

Thank you for your response!

I have a second question, if that's alright. I'd like to know if I need to make copies of the forms I'm sending with my fiancee to the embassy. The forms are as follows:

DS-156

DS-156K

DS-230

I-134

Will my fiancee be required to carry a copy of any/all of these forms for her interview? Thanks again!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFilling Form I-134 Affidavit of Support with no income
Hello all!

I have a question regarding filling Form I-134, Affidavit of Support for my Lebanese fiancée.

I contacted the US embassy in Beirut yesterday to ascertain that I can have a sponsor fill Form I-134 in place of myself. This is because I am a full-time student and currently have no source of income. It turns out that another person can indeed sponsor my fiancee for me, but that I as the petitioner must fill out the form as well regardless of my financial situation.

That being the case, I'd like to ask how I can go about filling in the form being that I have no source of income. Should I fill in the form and state that I have no income and assets but pledge to sponsor my fiancée financially (because I plan to begin working a bit to help support her beginning this school year)? Is putting $0 for the values of my income and investments, etc. risky for my case? Or will the fact that I have a very willing and exceedingly qualified cosponsor nullify that concern completely?

Thank you for any answers in advance!
