When my wife and I went through the process in 2002, literally HUNDREDS of fiancees & wives were totally stranded in Moscow after congress mandated new background checks without giving DoS any resources or means to actually carry them out. These women had already had their visa interveiws, BEEN APPROVED for the K-1 & K-3 visas, and SURRENDERED their int'l passports to the embassy! It took some women more than 6 months before the matter was resolved, and they couldn't even travel anywhere else in the mean time. It appears that Congress' grandstand stunt has left you guys in a similar but not quite as deplorable situation. The RFEs are obviously going to ask for the background checks on YOU mandated by the recently implemented IMBRA. Sad that Cantwell and company had to piggyback these new BS regulations onto a bill like VAWA because they knew it would never pass on its own merit, and a vote against VAWA would be political suicide. Take heart that these things WILL work themselves out *eventually* but understand that nobody in our gov't gives a rats @ss about you or your fiancee - get used to it you'll have many more years of inane boolsheet to endure, and it doesn't really get any easier once she's (or he's) here.
