National Visa Center (Dept of State)Received a Case Number this morning

Thank you !

how long it took the AOS to be billed ( ready to be paid) for you?

It took two days for the bill to show as paid from the moment we paid. It was available to be paid as soon as we got the mail with the Invoice identification number and NVC number.

I know how tempting it is to get the easy way always... But not all the time the easy way takes you to where you want to go. Listen to the advise the members give to you. They know a lot about immigration processes and law. The general consensus here is that you should not use that document. If it was sent by mistake, even if it was not your responsibility you will pay the price and probably taken in custody at port of entry. In the end it will be your decision but if you decide to use it at least talk to a lawyer to see what options you have. Good luck!!

I think we should all call USCIS and NVC and say this :

"Happy Valentines day, please note that I can't be with my loved one because your process is too long and very frustrating"

Love!

So true!!! :(
But I still hope we get lots of approvals today... (L)

Glad you figured it out Posted Image

Have you already sent the I-864 and DS-230? Tax information? The certificates (birth, marriage, police)? Passport copy? Pictures? I'd suggest looking at the guides in the first post as well as the FAQ on the second post to make sure she has everything. Just because she's a lawyer does NOT guarantee she knows everything. I've seen so many people with lawyers get a checklist for not including things because the lawyers didn't "know" Posted Image

The I-864 and DS-230 we havent sent. We mailed her to see what is next but i think it will be until the fees are paid. We sent the tax info and all certificates, my police certificate and a copy of my new passport also. Our only concern is that my name appears as the one I used to have before i got divorced (as i had not had received the new passport when she asked us to send the documents) I hope this will not be a problem... However I will take a look at all this documents and send what i see in those list if she did not ask for it!! thanks again Spreadsheet Sensei!!!

Once the two bills are paid, you can send the two packages. I'm not sure if your lawyer is going to collect the documents from you or not.

We really appreciate your help Saylin! (L)
Even though it was confusing at the beginning, we figured it out and paid the bills already!!

She asked us to send a lot of documents at the beginning of this process... three copies of each one including translations of all of them, so she already has what she needs we hope...

Definitely keep calling every single day. It can be assigned any minute now!

Anecdote: when I first called NVC, they said to wait a week before calling again. Instead, I called the very next day and guess what? I had a case number :)

Moral of the story: Never listen to the time frames given by operators Posted Image

Thank you!! We will call tomorrow then... and the days after until we get a number!!

That is true. All I can say is cheer up. Once you are together everything and all you ar going through will be worth the wait!!
I do not know if this can help but the USC can contact a senator or representative and see if they can help to make the process faster. I read it has helped some, its worth trying I guess. In the meantime keep hanging there!! It will come soon!!

oh darling i hope you didnt think thats the only money theyd take from you
your affidavit of support is 88 and you iv fee is 230 then 165 for a green card fee allll the way at the end
dont forget a few hundred for the medical

He paid 420 for each one of us... they did say something about another fees but now I see how much its gonna be!!! lol...I asked her and this iw what she answered... all seems like its gonna be a lot...

Hi Karla,

The fees at the beginning to the US Department of Homeland Security were government filing fees ($420 per person).

After USCIS approves the petitions, the NVC (National Visa Center) will issue fee bills for each person (2 fees each to total $318 USD per person).

When NVC issues the consulate interview date, they will also issue instructions on the medical exams and the cost of those will vary depending on medical history, x-rays, labs, immunizations, etc.

Something new we recently received an update on is that starting February 1st of this year, there will be an immigrant fee of $165 USD per person, which is to be paid prior to arriving in the US.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTourist visa while waiting for the NOA2 on a spousal visa
We emailed the lawyer and asked her to make the phone call for us and this is the reesponse we got:

Hi Karla,

USCIS is currently backlogged and is still processing your petitions.
Once the USCIS issues the approvals, the petitions will go to NVC, not an adjudicator or to one specific officer. NVC will then send us the fee bills for each of you that Bryan will pay online. Then, I submit all of the originals and financials to NVC for clearance. Once they clear all of the documents, they coordinate with the consulate and schedule the interview date for you and the children.

As soon as we receive the next notice of action, I'll be in touch with you and Bryan immediately, so we can take the next step.

Now... my question is, what fees is she talking about? My husband made some checks at the beginning of this process, those have been already cashed...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTourist visa while waiting for the NOA2 on a spousal visa
Thank you for the advice. We also filed visas for my three kids but the older two are not going with us inmediately as they have to finish the school year here. So I was planning to apply for a tourist visa for my baby and I, as my older kids are already at school and cannot leave the country, they will be staying with his father.
My timeline is right, yes, I checked the dates, we filed through a lawfirm in the states. Our paralegal asistant sent us the information, and we checked my hubby´s checking account and the checks have already been cashed. They were under the name of the USCIS.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTourist visa while waiting for the NOA2 on a spousal visa
My hubby and I filed for a spousal visa on last August. He has been living with me since then but... Unfortunately he will have to leave soon. So my question is if there is a way I can go on a temporary basis to the States with him while this process is being finished and not illegally. We have from the begginning tried to do everything legally, go by the books, and even though the process has taken forever we do not want to do anything that could hinder it in any way. I thought about applying for a tourist visa using an invitation from my brother, who is already a US citizen, but not sure if this would work since the spousal visa process has already been started. I would appreciate any advice you can give us.

On January 23, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

If the new job provides enough income and he still has some savings, the delay should be short.

Do you know how long would he have to be working for the letter of employment be acceptable?
Mrs. ChildsFemaleGuatemala2013-02-27 09:32:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOur sponsors backed out!!

With a household of eight (I know the sponsor isn't sponsoring eight.) it's hard to blame them. There ARE a lot of "what if's". You know the solution though. He comes back and gets a job that makes enough money to qualify. He was going to need to do that anyway. This is just a change in timing. One other consideration that comes to mind though is that in the off chance he is behind in his child support, his passport will probably be suspended when he comes back. If that happens you won't see him again until you have your visa and use it. If this is not a concern, please disregard my mention of it.

Well, we understand its hard to blame them but they could have told us before so we would have taken other measures. But that is in the past now.
As far as child support, he has been paying it punctually from his savings account. We had enough to cover it.
He is coming back to the States next week, he has a job offer already so we hope this delay will not be that much!
Thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOur sponsors backed out!!
Well... after months of being so sure they were gonna help us, they decided not to because they think there are too many what ifs... :(
This is a great set back to us!!! Now my husband will have to go back to the states and find a job and hope he can make enough to meet the income requirements ( we are eight members in the household, including his three kids from his previous marriage)
As we do not have any other option for sponsorship, this is not looking good to us.
I just wish they would had told us no since the beggining. My husband could have stayed in the states if they had and found a job. He decided to come down here and take some time off due to injuries he had at his previous job, but i guess that just harmed us in the long way in this process.
