US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAppointment letter before scheduling interview?

Hi! I got excited when I read this. Our case is now with the NVC. We just paid the AOS fee and at this point, we are waiting to submit the rest of the requirements. I already know my MNL case number because the NVC sent me an email with the DS3032 (choice of agent) form. I was hoping to go ahead and try to get my medical done at St. Luke's. When I called, they said all they needed was any document with my manila case number... isnt it too early to schedule an interview when I know our documents have not been sent to the embassy yet? Your advise please! Thanks.

GiNi

the original poster is a k-1 petitioner. you are a cr-1. k-1 applicants call the embassy to schedule their interview. cr-1 is different. i think nvc schedules the cr-1 interview.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical Exam

Hello all,

My Fiancee does not have any documentation about previous vaccinations. How much of a problem is that going to be? Thank you.

no problem at all. my wife had no documentation either. st lukes will give her age-appropriate vaccinations. there is no charge for the vaccinations because it is included in the price of the medical exam.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNOA2 extension request!
you can get a four-month extension from the u.s. embassy in manila. i'm pretty sure there is no form to fill up and submit. all you have to do is to call them or email them and tell them you still intend to apply for your k-1 visa and that you need an extension. from what i have heard, the embassy will then keep your case open. i'm not sure how many extensions you can get, but i think you can keep your case open for quite a while. just keep the embassy informed and you should be ok.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionManila Consulate Receipt to Interview Scheeduling
in case anyone is wondering about the eligibility letter the embassy is supposed to send out, here it is.

it can easily take three weeks or more from the time the nvc sends a k-1 petition to the embassy until the embassy enters it into their system. you have to wait until they enter your petition into their system before you are allowed to schedule an interview.

don't wait around for the letter from the embassy. some people never get the letter. we didn't. but you don't need the letter anyway. you can still schedule an interview either online or through the call center

if you schedule an interview through the call center and the call center asks you if you received the letter, just tell them you have already received it. then you can schedule an interview through them (as long as your k-1 petition is entered into the embassy's system).

if you want to schedule an interview online, like other posters said, just keep trying every day. you will be able to complete the online scheduling when the embassy has finally entered your k-1 petition into their system.

good luck everyone! :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCurrent Income Verification

Those screenshots would work - you can include a statement about why they are that way.

Backed up by your IRS transcripts/bank records - you will be fine.

 irs tax transcripts are better because they are more official. also, printouts or screenshots of pay stubs are fine.

If it wasn't for the fact they're only worried about current income for poverty standards, I'd be worried. My past year's tax forms show me making way below what is required for a household of 3 (we're expecting our first child in October). I've only been with J.B. Hunt since August and don't have a full calendar year's worth of income to show. But, with my regular and per diem pay, I make enough to exceed the 125% guideline.

i wouldn't worry about your 2010 income tax return showing that you made below 125% of the poverty line. the embassy will be looking mainly at your current sustained income. that's why it's necessary to submit current pay stubs. you don't need a full calendar year's worth of income. the embassy will annualize your 2011 income based upon your current pay. that should put you over the top.

Hold On .. are you sure?? I'm reading the exact opposite info on the website: http://www.ustraveld...nformation.html

on your link, you will see another link near the top of the page. it's called DS-160 FAQ. click on it.

after you click on it, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Visa Categories Not Using the DS-160.

you will see there that k-1 applicants do not use the DS-160.

Hi all,

I am new here on VJ. I would like to ask what are the common questions they usually ask on medical? Do they ask about your medications taken in the past? and about the medical history /previous diagnosis?

Thank you.

PhilippinesG'Day everyone ...
Hi Natty and Good day to you too.

I hope you and your twins are doing well. And I also hope that you are sincere with your effort to make friends here in Phils forum. If you are, then we can be civil with you. But dont expect us to forget easily your negativity towards us in your previous post. There are some lessons to be learned and we can learn from each other specifically 'The Golden Rule'.

Well, it is my early Saturday morning now and I plan to sleep after reviewing some books. My Friday was spent with my dentist and some errands done too.

I think it is a good idea that you should leave your twins at home since babies have low resistance against sickness.

dont forget to bring some money in case they charge you for overweight baggage fees. some airlines can charge you $50 or more for each bag. check the PAL web site for their overweight baggage fees.

i hope the travel tax is already included in the price of your ticket. maybe the travel tax is itemized on your ticket already.

if you pay the 750 peso terminal fee in dollars, the change they give you will be in pesos. thats what happened to me. i used dollars to buy food at the airport in japan and the change they gave me was japanese yen.

PhilippinesHEPA-A VACCINE: WHAT AGE RANGE IS IT REQUIRED?

i had a very serious case of hepatitis A several years ago here in the states. i got it from a restaurant. i have never been sicker in my life. i would highly recommend the vaccination so the same thing doesn't happen to you. the link above to the cdc web site does not even begin to describe how bad the symptoms can be.

The link provides information about the signs and symptoms of hepatitis A. The presenting signs and symptoms may be similar in all individuals who contracted that virus but the severity of their cases may vary in their individuality.

i was sick for six weeks with hepatitis A. the first two weeks, i was so sick that i could manage to get out of bed only to use the bathroom. the tiredness and fatigue were extreme. i ached everywhere. it was orders of magnitude more serious than having a cold or the flu. i was so sick that i could not even watch tv or listen to the radio. i was really out of it. i slept a lot.

i was usually too weak to stand at the toilet to pee. i was even too weak to sit on the toilet and pee because i was afraid that i would not be able to stand up afterward. a few times i had to pee in the bathroom sink while holding onto the sink, and then stagger back to bed. my pee was brown.

i could not eat anything for two weeks and i could barely drink a little water. i had the dry heaves many many times. my skin and my eyes turned yellow.

then i slowly started to improve. it really took about eight weeks or so before i felt like myself again.

my doctor told me i had a severe case.

i recommend getting vaccinated...even in the U.S.

PhilippinesWhat did I do wrong?

That's interesting what you say as lambing - my wife has explained lambing as being affectionate/loving. Could it mean different things depending on where you grew up?

yeah, that's lambing.

Maybe I am the one getting it wrong, but here's how I interpreted what she said...

"Lambing" I understand to be tenderness... and so is Tampo, kinda... cuz if there was no tampo due to lambing, her other response would be to kill him for his mistake. But since she does both (maintains silence due to her tenderness or affection for him), he lives to see another day!

And hopefully, on the other day, she will then explain how he messed up, so they can avoid it again. (L)

 my wife is not buying your idea of lambing. a pinay will give you the silent treatment because she's pissed off, not because there's some other alternative.

the op doesn't have a tampo problem. he's got a much more serious problem. his wife is an immature brat and he puts up with it.

PhilippinesQuestion On Booking Plane Tickets For Fiancee
My wife and I had no worries in this department.

My wife bought her ticket from a travel agent in Iloilo who was one of her batchmates in college.

Before my wife's interview, the batchmate saved a window seat for her. When my wife finally had the visa in-hand, she went back to the travel agency and paid cash for the ticket.

Philippinesbad american or bad problem

If you want to truly help, then keep your nose out of it. If this girl's father cannot convince her to forget about the guy, who do you think you are to change her mind? Putting your nose in another person's business is giving a bad name to kanos coming to the area. You're acting like they are too stupid and naive to handle their own affairs and need being saved by the big great white man. Her father knows he's trouble, and no doubt everyone else does to. You really need to stop portraying the village as being these helpless tribal natives who don't know what they're doing. You're just setting yourself up for an eventual big fall if you keep it up. They know thousands of times better what works there than you do with your few weeks of vacation time in the country.

I wish I could +1 this more than once.

All you have to do is show up. You will be given an intial 21day visa. After that period of time has ended you have 2 choices. Either to renew the visa or just pay the fine on the way out at the airport. It's only roughly $75 or 3000php.

something I have noticed is breastfeeding.... almost seems normal and natural in my wife's village. Something moms are expected to do. In the US, it is completely going against the grain. Any mom breastfeeding in the US can expect either praise or ridicule. And usually if you are out, are expected to "cover" yourself in the US for exposing yourself during feeding. Explaining this to my wife is not easy. Village culture she grew up in is very different.

it's a very simple concept. why is it so difficult for you to explain it to your wife?

caution, hazardous smell ahead !

Sorry, but the "Untrained, Untouched" is a late-bloomers fantasy that's really overrated and kind of creepy. If a 21 y/o girl anywhere is still that way, it's not because of morals or last-minute resistance; it's because nonody's ever tried.

daroq, my wife and i both smell something.

let's see if anyone else smells a big steaming pile.

hank?

That is totally a bunch of BS on your part.

looks like hank smells it too.

anyone else?

My wife and I have to strongly disagree with this comment (in bold). All of her female friends and cousins would also disagree. We aren't offended but feel that you may be ignorant when it comes to the subject.

looks like kev and jena smell it too.

let's see what daroq says about the foul odor.

daroq, where are you?

How is it BS? A 2007 survey about the age of first sexual encounter in 44 countries shows the average age to be from 15.6 - 23 years old. The Philippines wasn't included, but a 2008 survey by the National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) shows that a large number of births occur in women age 20 - 24, and moreso in rural areas.

hey daroq, the smell is getting worse. you told me you were talking about the philippines. you said that was the context of the conversation, didn't you? now you're quoting surveys which don't even include filipinos. i call bs on you! by the way, a large majority of the women in those surveys are married aren't they? doesn't that mean your surveys don't support your bs?

let's see what hank says.

hank?

Who give a rat's azz about a survey. So you are of the belief that a woman that is still a virgin at age 21 or older because that is her choice is not a reality? You believe the poster I was replying to that its because "nobodys tried" .... to that I still respond.... BS! Your thinking is SO derogatory towards women!

thanks hank. that confirms our suspicion.

hey b_j, you're doing good work with that shovel. keep on digging! +1 for you !

But if that's your thing, throw some patis on it and shuck away...

Just curious... if there are "Many oysters in the world to choose from", why go halfway around the world to pick one when there are many here already? Don't the seasonings and spices work just the same? LOL

Don't be projecting your view of the world on places you have never been, or don't know anything about.

 Huh? I'm Filipino and have been there (in the province) more than a handful of times. Maybe not as much others, but I grew up "Filipino" to the point of knowing how to cut cane, pick otong/sitaw, fish with nets, and kill a pig or goat and preparing it for cooking on a wood "stove". That is the reality of the places I visit even today. I can say that I've experienced the same level of poverty as any of these people do today.

where did you say anything about the philippines in your previous post? you said "anywhere" and "halfway around the world."

You know... I think you hit my bottom 20 with that list... :help:

......not the top 20.....

darren, that was your list, not mine. you said you wanted to talk about lively, funny, and light-hearted stuff, but you went on to post a laundry list of your problems. what's up with that?

Kroger, Safeway, Food lion, Albertson's are "not her food stores", only the Asian market is "her store". (she actually said this recently, I boiling mad inside, but I did not say anything.)

this was one of the most disturbing things you said. why in the world were you boiling mad that gretchen likes the asian market? isn't the asian market the store where you can buy filipino food? what's wrong with gretchen eating filipino food? strange.

The hard part has been getting bank accounts setup with her on them so she can take care of bills, plus know where money is going... there has been the perception of us having lots and lots of money plus also the shock in cost of items in the USA being more then expected by her standards.

darren, would you please stop blowing hot air. there's nothing hard about setting up bank accounts. it took 15 minutes at the bank for my wife and i to do it.

also, gretchen has been there for nine months, so she knows how much things cost. if you have shown her your monthly household budget and she still has the perception that you have lots of money, then there's a problem. then she's telling you she doesn't care.

darren's top 20 fun and light-hearted comments

I could rant, rave, get angry, be upset over food...what I am trying to do is bring some light hearted things to mind... things which may be funny...

20. my wife does not eat much american food or even cook american food yet in the 9 months of being here.

19. She does cook mac and cheese for the kids, help with cereal, and occasionally cooks me red beans and rice, normally in the morning brings me hot chocolate, but meals are still not cooked.

18. I make 90% of my meals or stop to buy something on the way home from work. If I focused on how tired I was from work, then had to cook or make my own meal and eat alone...I could get extremely frustrated.

17. I could express how frustrated I am in going over to the family house, how there is not typical American comfort food found.

16. i made swiss steak, and threw most of it out because my wife did not eat any.

15. I could fuss on how I just threw out $15 dollars in steak (4 tenderloin steaks) which were never cooked.

14. Or how I threw out half a pound of sliced turkey breast, and half a pound of ground hamburger.

13. Or how most leftovers are never eaten, being thrown out unless I eat them.

12. I am throwing out $200 in food each month, over 10 months that is $2,000 or more1!!!

11. I am at the point where I have just about given up on Food and making any "family" meals anymore

10. I am just trying my utmost right now to deny myself this one thing which aggravates me to help our relationship.

9. Kroger, Safeway, Food lion, Albertson's are "not her food stores", only the Asian market is "her store". (she actually said this recently, I boiling mad inside, but I did not say anything.)

8. realize the tough situation I am going through.... I have not talked to my family since December.

7. Have not seen my parents for 2 years, my sister for 5 years, and my brother for 7 years.

6. All of my closest family has disowned me.

5. My brother in law comes to Phoenix but never, ever looks me up or visits.

4. I have an ex-wife who takes me to court just about every 6 months which means another 30 times in family court at the least.

3. I lost a lot of friends in my divorce, then lost more when marrying a Pinay.

2. I could go on about educating my wife's family on how Americans are not rich and more....

1. I am not trying to stereotype

:wow: darren, if those are your top 20 fun and light-hearted things, i'm pretty sure i don't want to read your bottom 20.

hehe, the problem was my manager did not let me bill comp time the first visit on vacation.... so I had to eat food in the pantry... Still had steak, chicken, etc. Just no "nice meals" dining out.

But a good point almost all Americans have bank accounts and savings plus credit cards. Some Filipinos do not have bank accounts or a savings account...

Plus, as others have pointed out: most Americans compete with the "Joneses" on things while many Filipinos just get what they need to live.

wasnt that you who posted that you were broke and in debt after your last trip to the philippines when you brought your fiancee to the u.s.? and what difference does it make if you have a bank account if you are broke? isnt charging up your credit card the same thing as a filipino getting credit at the sari sari? do you see any hypocrisy in your statements?
jamsterMalePhilippines2012-06-06 13:24:00
PhilippinesAmerican vs Filipino

a Difference i noticed...

In America, A dad jingles the car keys saying "who wants to go for ice cream?" then loads up the gang, and drives for some 15 to 30 minutes to the local drive-in for ice cream cones....

In Philippines, a dad asks who wants ice cream (or frozen milk), then sends one of the kids to go get for everyone from the local sari-sari (on credit)....and pays for it later on....

hey, arent you the guy who came back from the philippines with your credit card maxed out and so broke you only had a few dollars to eat on for the next couple of weeks? you dont look like a filipino in your photo.
