I doubt it, making an antibodies count from a blood sample takes a while, and I'm not even sure it's possible for all of the required vaccines.
If I were him, I'd go to the doctor and have an MMR shot right now. The second shot must be at least a month later, which might still work for you. I'm not sure about the other vaccines because they're not requested by the embassy in France, except the Tdap/DPT, but one shot is enough.

Ah, very good to know. Without knowing our interview date yet, there's really no need to rush things but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks Laure!

EDIT: Also, I just remembered that everything is closed Thursday-Monday anyway so I guess that decision was made for us

You do know that some shots needs to be taken like twice with a certain amount of time inbetween? Remeber to ask the doc if it will be enough with just the first doze to enter the US and get the second shot once he is over there.

Good to know, I'll make sure to ask about that. He thinks he got some shots as a kid when some nurses came around to all the rural families and gave out shots and he has a Carnet de Vacunaciones but all it says on it is Dengue and Yellow Fever, neither or which are needed for the US. There isn't even a vaccine for dengue... :bonk:. I guess we'll just take that card and maybe the doc can do a blood test to see which ones he's had.

GoingCrazy2012 is on a stand still until next Monday (Our so anticipated "Second Week of April")because the US Embassy in Colombia has just closed for 4 days due to a religious holiday observed in Colombia (Semana Santa or Holly Week)... see ya all next week!

I was reading over the medical appointment information for Paraguay and it doesn't say to bring the interview letter, just passport, photo and vaccination record. Does that mean that my husband could schedule his medical before receiving the interview appointment letter?

Yup from Case# 3/8/12 to CC 4/3/12, that's 27 days, and thats 27 days with 2 Checklists. It's just like what Saylin always says, You Gotta Be On Top of it with NVC, like a Fly on a...... ummmm well that part i added but you get my point.
Just want to say Thank you to Saylin and to everybody else for their time spent answering my endless questions.

:wow: I guess I am really gonna have to wait till next week. That sucks because this friday will make 3 weeks since CC. :crying:

I just hope they don't assign it next week and then make it super short notice, then I'm really gonna get annoyed!!

That's what I'm worried about. I know the Paraguay Embassy only does spouse visa interviews the first week of the month. So if we get our interview date next week and it's for the first week of May, we have very little time to prepare. I've also heard that it takes 2 weeks to get medical results back...

Does every Embassy/Consulate website post interview schedules? I saw a link to an interview schedule for India in the March thread but can't find it when I look on the Santiago, Chile Embassy website.

No, only certain ones post their schedule. Paraguay doesn't either, it's frustrating.

Nvc gotta be getting lots of calls right now, I don't even get the "welcome you might be waiting 5 min or more" I only get a busy signal

And I really wanted to talk to them before I go to bed...

Calling right when they open or right before they close usually gets me through right away. I don't know what time that would be for you though so that may not work :bonk:

I think the "second week of April" line is most likely to be a true statement. In my case, I highly doubt I would get an interview date until then because my case was just completed, and next week is a holiday in Colombia that almost as long as Thanksgiving is in the US. That is, it will be a holiday from Thursday to Sunday (which shortens the working week to only three days) and obviously the US Embassy hours as well. We'll see

Same here (and probably most Latin American countries). I'm not expecting anything til the week of the 8th

IV packets for both my wife and step daughter were sent via express mail today. Hoping for case closed sometime next week and find out the interview date the week after that. My wife had a dream that the interview date would be May 3rd, so that is what we are hoping for now :)

I leave this forum for 3 hours and have to read through about 10 pages to get caught up. I blame those darn Canadians for so many posts :P

I had a dream the other night that my husband's interview was May 3rd! Hopefully your wife and I both turn out to be psychic :D

I think that Embassies sent out their visa type schedule to the NVC and NVC fill out the spots given for every days of the month. I don't see why they won't fill out couple months ahead and set interviews. Other VJ members are still waiting as well, from different countries, hence my believe that NVC is backed up with files as well as it's a NVC processing lag rather than a specific Embassy tied schedule. After they decide to set an interview they send the total package to the Embassy. Meanwhile, guess who's boiling from the inside!!?? :ranting: -

Thought 6 months waiting at USCIS would toughen my skin, but this is worst!

I recommend:"Drano Max Gel Clog Remover" for NVC!

Yeah I don't get it. And most Embassies have the same schedule every month of when they do interviews so I don't know why they can't plan ahead. The operator I talked to said they tried to schedule my husband's interview but Asuncion was all full already...?? So I don't know that NVC is backed up so much as certain Embassies. Either way, it's extremely frustrating!! :ranting:

Federal holidays: http://www.opm.gov/O...fedhol/2012.asp Make sure to read the paragraph above the table.

But Easter is not listed so it seems like they won't be closed at all. That paragraph is only referring to the holidays listed below it, specifically New Year's, Veteran's Day and Washington's b-day in 2012.

Well, since Easter is on a Sunday, and NVC is already closed on weekends, so yes, NVC is closed on Easter.

I realize that but some businesses are closed the Friday before or Monday after. So my question wasn't really as dumb as it seems

great, thank you, and you had no problems with it right? he is completely fluent in english. :star:

Nope, no problems. I'm not even sure if it was a requirement to translate the documents but Paraguay has 2 official languages, not just Spanish, so I went ahead and did it. Better safe than sorry I guess.

hi everyone, finalizing the ds-230, my husband made all the translations for it since they technically aren't required, and his mom looked over everything since she studied in England and is fully fluent. Should she fill out the translation forms since it would look weird that he translated his own documents...does it matter?

I translated and signed the certification for all of my husband's documents. As long as he is competent to do it, then it is fine.

So I managed to illicit some information from a lovely lady called Irene at the NVC today.

Essentially as a rule they tell people they only schedule during week 2 of a month, because they take each month as it comes and dependant on load for a particular embassy they do start earlier, but as ever it's fluid and the only rule they have is that it does start on the 2nd week on the month.

No real help- but she was empathetic and told me to keep callin and asking, incase.

Hmm this sort of makes sense. Jean told me this morning that unfortunately NVC could not schedule my interview this month because the Asuncion Consulate had no more openings. I know that the Consulate here only does spouse visa interviews the first week of each month so that leaves only a few openings each month. It makes sense then that if the "interview clock" restarts the second week of each month, I missed out on this month and will have to wait.

I could also be wrong about all of that but thanks for the info nonetheless :)

 I've tried to limit myself to only checking e-mail every half hour. It's not working...

Are there any non-EP cases that have gotten their interviews scheduled outside of the second week of the month? I'm starting to believe the operators too :crying:

That 2nd week of April prompt is not true... that I understand interview are schedule all month long. For me the bad part is I was guiding myself by Matt's timeline and it took him 10 days (counting weekends) to get info on his interview... and I am at 10 days and nothing ... :hehe:

I was guiding myself by the 2 other Paraguay cases that got interview dates in 7 days. It's been 14...ugh.

It took 8 1/2 months for our approval.

Wow that is terrible! Our journey has been very short since I'm living overseas with my husband. I don't know how all of you who waited 6+ months at USCIS didn't go crazy! But hey, we are almost done now!!

Because it's Sunday and I'm bored I was playing around with the DHL tracking page and I noticed that a package went out to Asuncion, Paraguay on Friday. I haven't been calling for my interview date but with the extremely low volume of Paraguayan immigrants and I have a hard time believing that that's not my package. we allready sent Co-sponsor which he is my father in law ( household ) since my wife she didn't make enough income this year from part time job and full time student , but her father construction man ,but when we got his transripts we found out he doesn't make enough income but he own assets like two houses , cars , and more than 200000 dollars in the bank .

so why they send this email to us ?
do you think assets can Offset the annual income ?

I got the same checklist. The operator told me that when they send out checklist's it is because they are only looking at the petitioner's info but that they did have the joint sponsor on file. So you can just ignore it for now and make sure to bring all of the joint sponsor's documents to the interview.

Yes, unfortunately there are very few IR-1/CR-1 cases from Paraguay. The only other 2 I saw got their interview letters a week after CC, but I obviously didn't :( . But that was 6 months and 1 year ago so the timing could have changed significantly and 2 cases isn't enough to make an accurate trend.

Hi all,
Mailed my AOS package yesterday via USPS Express Mail guaranteed delivery by 12:00 noon but I don't see the USPS track and confirm updated yet. Called NVC to find out if they received it but they said that it takes atleast 20 days for us to make a decision. Didn't tell me if they received it yet or not?
Anyone else has gone through this

They won't be able to tell you it's been received, only that it's been reviewed and a)accepted or b)you got a checklist. The only way to know it's been received is by a tracking number when you mail it.

Thanks and with all due respect but what Saylin is suggesting is to either update page 1 or KEEP the one I currently have (that second suggestion unfortunately is the source of my confusion) and I see it as incorrect

I understand your concern I just wanted to let you know that other people were successful using the older form. You could also call the NVC and ask them what to do if you are still confused. Good luck :)

Oh no my friend! I hope yours goes through. My only concern is the phrase at the bottom of page 1 that reads "Previous Editions Obsolete" which will make 02-2010 NOT GOOD anymore

Page 1 I currently have will not work anymore because has now become OBSOLETE

Many of us had our IV packages reviewed and accepted between 02/29/12 (when the form "expired") and now so I don't think it matters very much. But if you're really worried about it you can take Saylin's suggestion and just update the pages that have the new date.
