Mexico, Latin & South AmericaVACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
Somebody correct me if I am wrong...

From my understanding, I previously had a K-1, you don't need all of your shots until you are adjusting your status. The vaccinations are associated with being a legal permanent resident.

That being said. If there are no records your fiance can see their doctor to request titre bloodwork for the vaccinations that they are required to have based on age. This tests for the antibodies. You can find more inforamtion here.

If you have the option find out what vaccinations are missing and then find out if it is cheaper to get those vaccinations in Mexico or in the US.

When I used my K-1 to enter the US in December of 2009 I didn't have all the required vaccinations upon entry but understood that I would need to get them prior to AOS.

Hope that helps!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)18 days and Nvc stil haven't received my case...
Although I am processing a CR1... I say call NVC! I called twice within one hour and was given the information I required on the second call!

All you need is your USCIS receipt number and talk to an agent. If you don't like the answer say thank you and call back!

Good luck!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-260 question- residences since age of 16?
Yes, they ask for all residences from the age of 16. I couldn't proceed without filling in all the gaps. I lived in 12 places in 17 years including living overseas. It was a pain in the @ss to find that full address but an RFE isn't worth it.

Good luck!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Case Complete, but still no interview date appointed
I had my case complete on 31 January 2012 and called everyday after that. I was told that they booked appointments during the second full week of the month. I know that they do book appointments in Montreal at other times so I called everyday. Just as they said my interview was scheduled yesterday, the second full week of the month.

Be patient its only a little bit longer until you are done with this whole process! It will be worth it!!

Yeah it is a requirement to have the I-129F packet either a copy or original copies. We don't have any of it! What should I do? Can someone please tell me is this a def requirement?

Does your fiance have the electronic copies of the files... this will hold all of the information that you will be required... only lacking the signatures and dates from your original submission!

CanadaCanada Passport Renewal - Maiden Name OK?
Yes, you can have her passport renewed with her maiden name using the simplified form. You cannot however use the simplified form if she is changing her name. I believe that it tells you that in the instructions for completing the form, see below:

IMPORTANT—You may use this form only if:
-you were at least 16 years of age at the time of your previous application;
-you submit a previous Canadian passport that:
*Either was issued to you in Canada (see issuing authority on page 2 of the passport) and is valid or expired for no more than one year;
*was/is valid for five (5) years;
*is not damaged;
*was never reported lost or stolen; and
*Or, was issued to you outside of Canada (see issuing authority on page 2 of the passport) after April 30, 2006.
-the name on this application form is exactly as it appears on page 2 of the submitted passport;

NOTE: You are NOT eligible to use this form if the passport contains a married or a common-law partner surname observation and you wish to have your new passport issued in your married or common-law partner’s surname.

Good Luck!

CanadaVisting Canada on One Way Ticket
From what I understand you are the US Petitioner and your Husband is the Candadian Beneficiary, correct? PP I think was slightly confused as your wording wasn't very clear.

Getting into Canada is much easier than getting into the US. It is always better to have "just cause to return" to the US or Canada to show that you are not attempting to enter Canada and stay.

That being said I know that you can are able to receive a "temporary permit" from your POE with proof that you are married to a Canadian citizen. Do some more research.

Good luck!

CanadaFrustrated with trying to get money to the US!

With the RBC accounts thing.. say I get a physical US cheque err check, how would I deposit it into my account? The nearest branch is probably a 20 hour drive. I know this is probably a lame question.

For student loans.. guessing it's them not wanting to accept american checks? Could just money order it maybe?

I am pretty sure you can mail in your deposit. My husband has a business account that we do this for. I complete the deposit slip and send it off in the mail. I will be checking into this myself once I am closer to moving!

Good Luck!

CanadaFrustrated with trying to get money to the US!
I LOVE my RBC US account... best think I ever did!!!

I can write cheques in the US and easily shop online. I can transfer money for no fees. Which makes a counter deposit made into my Canadian account by anybody in my family super easy. I can almost instantly access the funds. It was worth the wait/hassle of setting these accounts up. I much prefer to have these accounts to manage for the time being. Also, the internet banking is fabulous!

I don't know why I didn't do this sooner! :bonk: Good luck!!

***Also, Canadian debit cards can be used at some places but not many. I know I have used mine at Safeway without issue.

Yep! I had issues... My husband was stuck in Vegas without a room and I couldn't use my card. I am still in Canada but I have been using his address, whoops!

He told me I had a bunch of stuff from the bank there and I said not to worry about it... Oh well... I guess I will be having him send me a courier ASAP!

CanadaPolice Certificate in Canada?
I went to Commissionaires to do my Criminal Background Check. It took 24 hours and cost less than doing one with the RCMP, at least that was the case in Vancouver.

You may find a guide to follow NVC for Montreal Beneficiares Electronic Processing helpful. I followed the guide and had my case completed quickly! :dance:

CanadaDoes a Canadian spouse have to pay taxes on American spouse's income?
I called the CRA regarding this issue as when I used tax software to complete my return for 2011 it greatly decreased my tax return (by $2k) due to my husbands income.

CRA said that my husbands US income will not and should not reflect on my taxes and suggested seeing a tax preparer or doing them by hand to ensure that this does not happen.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 June 2014 Filers

Hey MissDinaDee, I don't wish to sound alarmist, but if I were in your position I would see if I could have a free chat with an immigration lawyer, I believe USCIS need to receive your package and have officially started processing it by the time your green card expires. I'm sure you'll be fine and the lawyer will tell you that, but it's always good to check these things before they become a problem.

If my information is incorrect, apologies for the freak out!

I just spoke with an agent at USCIS and she said it will process normally. PHEW!!

Fingers crossed that she was right! It was received within the 90 days prior to the expiration including the expiration date. June 12th receipt of my docs may have been a different story!

Ahhh - you had me going, too!! That's weak sauce, but I know your approval won't be long. I think our change of address may have been what got our forms into some people's hands and led to our approval. Here's to hoping that the technique works for you as well!!

That was the goal! My address change was to switch the letter/number for my apartment. So instead of, say, A2, I changed it to say 2A. Very minor, but I'm hoping that it forces them to find the paperwork.

Congrats Ms Dina Dee! As far as the filling out more paperwork for AOS, I'm gonna get started on that as soon as I get back from next week's trip to Jamaica. I figure, may as well use our time apart to fill out that paperwork, so when we're together we can have our time for... other things. whistling.gif

Hey Folks...

Was just looking at Igor's list and was a little curious to see the total number of petitions at VSC and CSC for the month of December and this is what I found:

CSC - 59
VSC - 92

*Sorted by 1st NOA

Just an interesting difference... If there is this much of a difference in each month it seems that VSC has quite a few more petitions to process... Hopefully this can help us all in the home stretch of our long waits.
