K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed Help - VSC says today case has been assigned
How were you able to submit a request for status or formal inquiry? I am at 7.5 months (I-130 3/14, I-129F 3/20). I called the VSC and tried to submit a formal inquiry. I was told by an agent that they do not do this at VSC and that I had to call the NSC. I told the agent that I tried that already and they would not accept my request because (according to the NSC) I was not outside the normal processing time. The agent said there was nothing they could do. I asked what is the unofficial status of my case. I was told it is still in the queue waiting. So I asked the agent, "How is it that my case has not been assigned, whereas cases with later receipt dates have been assigned and approved?" The agent said that she had no idea why and that there was nothing she could do. So I asked what are my options. The agent said to call back again in 2 weeks. They act like they are doing me a favor just talking to me. I pay taxes and processing fees and get crappy services. I guess my next move is to begin contacting senators and congressman.

Today, the VSC agent followed up on my status confirmation number, and he told me that my case had been assigned to an agent. When I asked what that meant with regards to time, he said he could not be specific, but he said that it was a good thing and that I probably did not have much longer of a wait before I heard word. He said the majority of time a case is in the system, it is waiting to be assigned, and once it is assigned, the timeframe to an answer is relatively short.

If any of you have history with this, can you confirm what he's saying is legit, and if so, any guess on how long that "magic window" may be?

All this on the heels of the biggest government swindle in history. I can't get a lousy visa application processed in 8 months, but within 2 months 350 billion dollars of our tax money can go in the pockets of the super-rich on wall street. The government officials in Washington are bought and sold before they ever arrive. And if you think there is a difference between the two parties, think again. Both parties were on tv for a week trying to scare the public into backing this swindle. The vast majority of the public didn't buy the lies, but both houses still voted for the bailout, after of course they added 150 billion dollars in special interest projects. Face it people. You don't matter to them. Just shut up and pay your taxes. My plan: to vote out incumbants in every election regardless of party affiliation and support as many third parties candidates as possible. I suggest you to consider doing the same.

I got an approval letter (by snail-mail) today for both my I-130 & I-129F. Didn't receive a notice by email and the approval hasn't been posted online at USCIS. However, both petitions were "touched" on 12/09/08. I will update my timeline tomorrow. Now it's on to NVC!

Hang in there March filers! VSC appears to have gotton off their duffs and are starting to churn them out! Good luck all!

I called the U.S. State Department (202-663-1225) about my I-129F (K-3) petition. They were very helpful (very different from the USCIS). I was told that my K-3 petition was forwarded to the foreign embassy (Minsk) on Dec. 12th. They said that since the K-3 petitions don't require processing at NVC, they don't assign a case number to this petition. It is simply forwarded to the embassy. Thus, no information on the automated system. Thanks for your help!

Thanks! Is the "5 days from NVC arrival to transfer to the embassy" after entry into the NVC system? Or is the I-129F petition sent to the embassy before it gets entered into the NVC system?

My I-130 and I-129F (K-3) was approved on Dec. 9, 2008. How do I track the progress of my K-3 visa through NVC?

I called the automated system and found a case number assigned to my I-130 petition, but there was no record of my I-129F petition. Is this normal? Does NVC just forward the I-129F petition to the foreign embassy without assigning a case number?

Some advice would be greatly appreciated!

I got approval for both I-130 and I-129F (K-3). I want to get my wife into the U.S. as soon as possible. Is there any drawbacks (other than expenses) to pursuing both avenues (I-130 and K-3) at the same time? Could this ultimately cause some delay for either or both?
