My Tunisian fiance just got approved for the visa today and will be picking it up tomorrow. He was not informed of this. When does it take effect? Will he be required to wait another 30-60 days before coming to the US? Even with his visa in-hand?

To quote a favorite Disney movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs:

"Some day my prince will come,
Some day we'll meet again,
And away to our castle we'll go,
To be happy forever I know.

Some day when spring is here,
We'll find our love anew,
And the birds will sing,
And wedding bells will ring,
Some day when my dreams come true."

Here's to hoping those dreams soon come true
for each and every one of you! biggrin.gif

P.S. Corny? Yes - but I'm just happy we're all a little closer to getting approved.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP: Forgot signature, How to proceed?
Oh no!
I was just looking at the fiance visa applicaion that I sent for processing a few weeks ago and realized that
I FORGOT TO SIGN MY G-325A!
Impossible!
I read it a hundred times and double-checked everything (or so I thought!)

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

We just got our NOA1 back last week. I'm thinking to send a new G-325A in (with signature) immediately, before they send a request for information to avoid further delays. Good idea? Any tips?
Thank you in advance.

P.S. This website forum is a God-send!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGood News - Anyone? Anything?
Well, it's another "manic Monday."

I called USCIS customer service this afternoon, knowing full-well they wouldn't have any news on our case, but I had promised my fiancé that I'd check. The woman on the other end of the line was friendly, though lacking a sense of humor.

As predicted, the only information that she could give me I already knew from looking at the processing times on the website. "The wait time for a K-1 visa is currently 6 months and your case will be processed in the order it was received."

I probed for any possible way to speed up the process. Medical emergency. It appears that I'll have to come down with a nasty case of West Nile Virus or something before they'll consider looking at my file.

I'm sure most of you are in the same predicament, but I'm just wondering:

Does anyone have any good news?

Like, maybe that your case was processed faster than predicted or that you just came back from a great trip with your sweetie, or maybe you're recently married and life is spectacular... even just a funny story, with a happy ending.

Give me some hope! Looking forward to hearing from you!

P.S. If you or your fiancé is from North Africa (or the Middle East)... Or North Dakota... Or if you're a June filer... Or if you're just looking for a friend - please add me to your list. I'd love to chat with ya! Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 to expire
At the time of my original post, my fiance had not yet sent in packet 3. About a week after my post, he submitted packet 3 and had his medical exam. Last week, I emailed the embassy asking them to extend the deadline of our I-797 (NOA2), to which I got no response. A few days ago, I called the embassy consular line and spoke with someone there who said our packet 4 was in the mail and gave me an interview date of March 6th. At that time, they informed me that our I-797 would not expire.

At this point, I'm just hoping all goes smoothly. Incha'Allah, less than two months from now, visa in hand, we will be together!

Thanks for all the responses.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2 to expire
Hi all,
I noticed that the validity on my NOA2 is about to run out. It expires in a couple of weeks. What has to be completed before this date? Interview or forms submitted? Is there any way to extend it? I noticed in the sample forms section a "Request to Extend Approval of I-129F." I'm assuming I need to send this letter to my fiancé and have him take it to the consulate or should I fax it directly to the embassy? It will take a month to get there by postal mail. Is it OK if it's not an original? It will be notarized. Any tips are much appreciated!
Thanks,
Kay

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Validity - Timeline
Hi there,

We just received our visa last week and I had some questions about the information and dates on it. The visa reads:

Visa valid to 6 September 2008
Petition valid to 16 June 2008

What do the two dates mean? Can my fiance travel to the USA anytime between now September? What is the purpose of the June date? I believe we sent in our original application for the fiance visa about 1 year ago June 16. Is that June date a reference to that?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Thank you for your responses. I'm going to call the consulate first thing in the morning.

Is there anything in the Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM) or any other Department of State published document that we might be able to reference if he's detained at the Port of Entry? I searched the FAM a bit but wasn't able to make much sense of it.

Thanks again. Visa Journey has been our lifeline throughout this whole process. We appreciate this community so much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Validity - Timeline
Hi all,

We are in the process of booking an airplane ticket for my fiance to come to the US. We were approved for the visa in February 2008 and are now preparing for him to come here.

His visa says valid until 6 Sept 2008. It also says petition valid until 16 June 2008. If we buy a ticket for him to come now, can he still enter the US on or before September 6 and will he have 90 days after that entry to return or marry?

I asked this same question in March but now some travel agencies are telling him the 90 days were included in that timeline and he will have to return or marry and file documents by September 6.

Does anyone know for sure the answer to this question? I'm hoping for some reassurance! Thank you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresExtend fiance visa?
Is it possible, under any circumstances, to extend a fiance visa once the fiance is in the US?

It has been about two months and we still feel like we need more time to get to know each other and make decisions that will shape the rest of our lives. With only a month left, we are grabbing for any and all straws.

Thanks in advance for your response.
