Hi everyone,

Just need clarification from anyone if a PDOS (Pre departure orientation seminar) for K-1 needed after the medical at St. Luke's (Manila). I read this from a testimonial (not in VJ). I'm sure about the CFO stamp but unsure of the PDOS.

We only need CFO sis, I had mine yesterday and I noticed that they touched some topics about pre-departure... Congrats... now u have your Manila case number, anytime soon u will receive your medical and interview date! Goodluck.

Hiya..i already have passport..do i still need to attend that CFO seminar for 3 cosecutive days? Thought that is just needed for issuance of passport from DFA.

U are mandated by our law to attend the CFO seminar.... and it's not a 3 day seminar, u can complete in just 4 hours.

P6525 would be $151 today.
$145 would be P6263.
Does the fee change daily, weekly or monthly?

The medical fee is fixed and it is $145 as of October 15, 2007 .
What changes everyday is the peso to dollar exchange rate!
So on the date of the medical, u have to pay in pesos the corresponding
exchange rate for $145.

My visa was approved and also our request for visa pick up! Thanks to all the informative threads here in visa journey that helped us throughout the process!

The consul was nice, it was'nt like an interview... more of a light chat! Note that he was smiling if not laughing the whole time!

He asked me:
*Where did we meet.. told him thru internet
*what site..... Hot or not
*is he (my fiance) hot?... told him Yes sir! And so am I!!!! He laughed.
*did he propose?
*how many divorce my did fiance had?
*he asked where the pictures were taken, our picture with a background "simpson the movie" caught his attention, and our Mt Pinatubo Treck, he asked how long was the treck and told me that he once saw the crater but on board a helicopter!
* About my job....
what kind of job I have... when I told him his reply was "Really... wow!"
did I go into the academy or some sort of training?
how was I commissioned?
where am I assigned?
* he browsed thru our chat messages.... he laughed again... I asked why, and he told me coz he saw Britney! I said yes sir, me and my fiance talk about everything even Britney!! He replied back "Yes, that's what i'm looking how real is your relationship!"
*He said "Let's check if your comrades have any record of you." he typed my name on his computer, and said " Clear! and your are approved!"

I thanked him after that. I asked him for a visa pick up which he granted. I also gave him the letter request for visa pick up Neil prepared.

The pink slip for visa pick up was handed to me on the check out counter! I was advised that they will call me when it is available and there's a good chance that it will be available this week! kicking.gif

If your fiancee got the NBI with the notation "for travel abroad" the embassy will accept that. It is good for 1 year. But if she applied for a NBI for local employment only, she needs to file a new one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsThis is what's going on.
If people really want to see an improvement in their cases, all they need do is contact their congressman for the state in which they live and they will take action...more action than you think! Here is the address to determine who your congressman is depending on what state you are from.

http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/

It will also tell you how to contact them by phone, email, and snail mail! So instead of just complaining here on Visa Journey, take action that will not only help your case, but the many thousands of others who are going through the same painful process!

The more complaints and requests they get the more that can be done, and the more that will get done!

Thanks,

I have a friend that works for the Department of Home Land Security. I have been trying and trying to make contact with him for the last three months. I finally got through. This is what was said to me about what is going on. This is a fact i would not say anything else in less i knew for sure. This news is some what relief but frustrating. I'm writing a letter now to my congress to put the pressure on the USCIS. The problem is I need more people to step up too? helpsmilie.gif

USCIS was holding a gun at the head of Congress to get the fee hikes approved. Either pass the fee hikes or we'll sit on our duffs! So Congress approved the fee hike (under serious protest). The first attempt by USCIS failed.

In preparation for this, USCIS published document called "Transformation." This was a clever ploy to be able to pass out excuses for delays. And implementing, whatever they are doing, had caused the delays, not to mention, building their bureaucracy and power!

There are 5 regional service centers (or were). In the last six or so months, they've passed on the K and Relative visa case load from 4 of the service centers to California. Imagine the added work load and training that had to be done by the California Center. They've been running 6 months or so in just approving the petitions.

In shuffling the cases from Texas, Nebraska, then Missouri and eventually Vermont, to California, has caused longer and longer delays and even in simply getting to a case to cash the checks and send out receipts!!

Just recently, they assigned Vermont to take some of the backlog off California's back. More transition delays in cashing checks and sending out receipts! I have yet to see any improvement in processing time.

If you'll look at the USCIS reports, you'll notice they are ignoring the I-129F stats on the K3 visa. You'll also notice the I-130 reports indicate nothing since they include 2nd., and 3rd., preference cases filed by Permanent Residents (not U.S. Citizens). In other words, they are hiding their information!

These shuffled and reshuffled cases are eventually making it to an adjudicator's desk as we see. But it's scary meanwhile since no one is talking. But keep in mind, they are in fact, under the gun, and eventually they have to get to each case. They are in effect, shooting themselves in the foot while justifying a greater empire. The public is slooowly waking up and screaming! That's one thing the killed the Amnesty Bill. unsure.gif

I just finished a conference conversation with the National Visa Center, Congressman Pomeroy from the State of North Dakota, and myself concerning the I-797 Notice of Action form mailed to Visa petitioners. According to the National Visa Center, this notice of action stating the same thing you will see on the USCIS website or that is emailed to you is not important and will not stop the process of the K1-Fiance` Visa. For those of you who are worried or upset that you have not received this NOA2, you need not worry. This NOA2 is not needed to move forward in the process of obtaining a Visa for your fiance`.

As to notifications, as long as when you check the status of your individual application using the receipt number that USCIS has given you from the 1st NOA, you have nothing to worry about. So the idea that NOA2 is a cruical and critical step is false. Do not be discouraged if you never receive this NOA2, your application is still moving forward! The only time you will need to worry is if they inform you via email or the USCIS website that your petition is disapproved.

If you need further guidance, feel free to contact me!

To my fellow kababayan.. If you look at my signature below or my timeline, you can pretty much have an idea what I am going through. I sent my application back in March and got a NOA1 in April. Not quite so sure when to start counting the days (from mailing or from NOA1 date). Anyways, if we are goint to start counting back in April this October will be my 6th month of waiting. Even with a RFE I've had I believe I am still overdue. I called yesterday because it's been more than 30 days since the case has resumed and still no NOA2 yet. The person I talked with yesterday was a nice gentleman and told me that my case is being reviewed by the officer and that I should hear something soon. But I am aware that with USCIS, soon can mean months instead of days, although I am trying to be positive and hoping for it before this month is over. As far as I know, NVC can only receive your case if the petition has been approved, but I am also aware that some never got their NOA2 email or hardcopy that made it to NVC which means that they have been approved or else NVC wouldn't have it in the first place.

I think some cases, not all, just happened to be in these mess or errors of USCIS' system. If everything flows perfectly as it should, everyone would have a smooth journey as follows..

After sending the application>>>>CHECK CASHED/CLEARED>>>>NOA1>>>>NOA2>>>>NVC>>>>Consulate/Embassy of the beneficiary>>>Packet 3 and 4 (medical and interview)>>>>VISA (if approved during the interview)...and follow other laws and regulations of the beneficiary's country before leaving..some countries the beneficiary needs to attend some conference or so before they can leave the country (like the Philippines).

Sorry, I stated my point incorrectly, my fault. What I meant to say was that once USCIS approved your petition, it is then passed on to the NVC... NVC is repsonsible after the USCIS has passed the approved petition to them!

Sorry, did not mean to confuse anyone! :-)

That is what I have been trying to say the whole time....the USCIS has nothing to do with your petition being forwarded to NVC or the Embassy... simply stated... NVC will only approve or disapprove the petition. Whether or not you receive the I797 Notice of Action has no bearing on the petition going forward!

:-)

Neil

The USCIS has everything to do with your petition being forwarded to NVC... Who do you think starts this chain of events? Secondly, USCIS adjudicates (approves or disapproves) the petition NOT NVC.

I agree with you, status updates on the USCIS website is sometimes rare, but if it is so rare that nothing is heard, then I think my first inclination would be to make a call! If the call to the USCIS does not resolve or answer your questions, that is when I would make a call to your Congressman! Belive me, as I have found out today, this is definitely one way to get answers, and get them quickly!

As for the email updates, I have my case and requested email upates, and that is how I determined that my petition was approved... through their email notification of statuses which you can elect to receive if you sign up for this! It is FREE, so why not right?

It states that you will need verification of approval. When you go to the USCIS website, you can print the status by using a button called a Printer Friendly Status... this as I have been informed by the National Visa Center is acceptable and will be acceptable replacement for a NOA2 that has never been received!

As for those who do not have an updated status, call the USCIS directly or wait for them to update their website. It is your choice, I prefer to make calls and get action rather than sit on my duff!

Neil

My point was that some (many?) people get no status update online. This means that if they never get a NOA2, they cannot know that they have been approved. Admittedly, most people without an update appear to have received a hard copy I-797, but certainly no e-mail (kinda unlikely without the online status update).

This puts us in a position of having to call USCIS every %^&* day to see what's up. Great. And even then some folks there just look at their screens and say sorry, no update; be patient etc.

In the meantime, the petition may already be approved, on its way to NVC or on its way to the embassy. All without us having heard a peep. Not cool.

I mean, how many errors can there be: no NOA1s mailed out, no NOA2s, no online updates, arbitrary touches etc etc.

That is what I have been trying to say the whole time....the USCIS has nothing to do with your petition being forwarded to NVC or the Embassy... simply stated... NVC will only approve or disapprove the petition. Whether or not you receive the I797 Notice of Action has no bearing on the petition going forward!

Thanks,
Neil

It is good your Congressperson helped you but the fact is that they spoke with the wrong department (NVC is a part of the Department of State versus USCIS which is a part of the Department of Homeland Security)... I-797 is a USCIS form and not an NVC form and of course they have no control over this document.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is the NOA2?
Yes, you are wrong! The NOA2 is only a form stating that your petition has been approved and is being forwarded to the repsective Embassy for the country of your fiance. It does not contain any control numbers or receipt numbers... these must be issued by the Embassy.
