Glad you got approved. The funny thing is that  CO grilled my fiance  with so many questions and did not ask for a single proof of relationship, he never looked at any docs he came with not even a single picture. You never know what to expect when it comes to Lagos embassy. Its almost like gambling. We are both glad that phase is  over.

seriously same thing happened, with my bag of proofs he didnt even ask also for any proof , just returned our pictures and my original birth cert.

Thank God.

Sorry about the denial, he probably got thesame CO my fiance got, my fiance told me he was denying everyone that  very day and he was sitting dowm praying he don't get him but he did and he grilled him with  lots of questions, even asked him why he won't wait until am done with school to marry me like that was any business of his.

so true, same happened to me, got drilled as well without breathing space and i had to be quick and direct with the answers.

Africa: Sub-SaharanK1 Visa denied

Yes. That was him. I told him another couple was approved yesterday and he thought he may have been sitting next to you. He was not questioned twice about anything. He said there was no indication by the co that anything was wrong.

yeah, definately him, thats one thing we have in common our fiances are from the same state,he looked tired, and very calm,we chatted briefly  he told me he was sleep deprived and hadn't rested the night before.

My sister, just go ahead with your next plan and the Lord shall see both of you Through In Jesus name Amen!

Africa: Sub-SaharanK1 Visa denied

thats so sad, i had my interview yesterday and it went well, am assuming your fiance sat on the same row as i did holding a DHL envelop or a black laptop bag becos we were only 4 K1 applicants at the time and i'm assuming  he encountered the difficult CO, who drilled me with about 15 questions without breathing time, interview was done over the phone,  he looked at my counternance the whole time to see if i will be get tensed and then he chipped in a question to know if i would agree that my fiance and i did any sort of marriage whether traditional or so, and asked me why not get married in Nigeria?

Please Be calm  and take Mr Gowon's advice to get married and file your I130 its not up to them to determine your happiness in Life.

Success!

It's going to take more time to write a proper review but a few quick pointers.

The beneficiary has to become an expert on you and especially on the info you both provided to them on the forms.

The critical, imho, is the conversation between the co and the beneficiary to judge how well meshed the relationship is.

Previous denial came up and we now know why she was denied and it was her error in response, age came up - I'm 22 year's older than my Wife - if she was older I felt it would have been an issue, names of folks in pictures came up as well as time line of relationship. All basic stuff that we covered the night before.

Good luck.

Thanks a lot! truly appeciate this!. both of you  have a safe trip back home.

please send me the united airline deal plsssss!

God bless.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't fret over the interview. If possible, bring the petitioner along. Even their mere presence in the embassy can strengthen your case a lot.

  • Consul officers seem to rotate. Even if poeple tell you there's a fussy CO at your embassy, they will probably be replaced by the time it's your turn to be interviewed. Even if he or she is still there, you may get lucky and be called to a different window.

  • If it's unclear whether you are denied or granted a K1 visa, ask for a clarifications. Ask the consul, "What should I tell my fiance now?"

  • If asked when you plan to go to the US, it may be safer to answer, "As soon as possible." If you're going to linger at home - say to throw parties with friends and family, or to give your employer time to find a replacement for you - you don't have to say it.

  • Do not volunteer more information than is required.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 APPLICANTS are Not required to fill form DS-260.
I initially followed the same instructions to fill out the online DS-260 which currently replaces DS-230 required for an immigrant visa application, since K1 isnt one, the option to choosechoose your fiancé/fiancée as ur petitioner was not included, some Vj memebers even suggested spouse as it was the closest. But as rightly suggested country consulate differs so it's best you call or email your consulate because NVC will not give you a satisfactory answer.

Oh cool then, but like i mentioned earlier my inquires on this were made 2days back as i have my interview already fixed and now its no longer a requirement under the K1 forms on http://travel.state....types_2994.html. Just thought it'd help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 APPLICANTS are Not required to fill form DS-260.

I believe this information is country specific because the London embassy packet3 instruction does request the DS 230 and not the ds260.

i think this is now a general information http://travel.state....types_2994.html has been updated today.

i inquired about this two days back and here was their response below;

follow this link http://www.nairaland...ficer-ask-me/25

vtdluv:
Good morning Co,

Trust u had great weekend, Thank you so much for your response.I followed the link you provided but still unable to access the form ds-260.I provided my nvc case number as required but could not input the nvc invoice id number which i assumed was the INS Reciept number (same as the USCIS reciept number) stated on the letter my petitioner recieved from NVC. The space provided did not match our Uscis reciept number. Kindly assist. Many Thanks.

Guess what! Thanks to you, vtdluv, yes, you personally, http://travel.state....types_2994.html is being corrected . K applicants do not need to fill out the DS-260 -- that's an error. All they need is the DS-156 and DS-156K. If you go to http://nigeria.usemb...visa_forms.html you can download the information packet for K applicants (it's too big to attach to this post). Thank you for getting me to track down an answer so we could get the correct information out to all the K applicants in the world!
