Ou just got her visa approval, she has to go back to pick it up on Monday at 3 PM. I was hoping they would have it tomorrow........

She will take the train back to Surin tonight and then back to BKK one last time on Sunday and fly to LAX on Thursday.

She said the interview was really easy, no more than 3 questions. I'll have to wait till she gets here to write a up a review for the interview and POE.

Now, off to EvaAir.com to buy her ticket and do my vacation paperwork for work to turn in first thing tomorrow morning.

Ou's interview is Thursday, finally. Shen went back to BKK for a few more shots a few weeks ago and they said she had to get her second HPV shot, I told her not to get it, we'll get it taken care of here.

Below is the e-mail I sent to the Embassy and the response:

Dear SqdnGuns

No, the shot for cervical cancer is not required for immigration purpose.

Greetings,

My fiancée is at Bumrungrad Hospital for her physical right now.

They are telling her that she needs the shot for cervical cancer since she is under 26 years old and it will cost 12,000 baht. Is this true? Nowhere on the paperwork for her medical and on the embassy web site it states that this shot is required?

I need clarification on this before I pay 12,000 baht for a shot that not even required here in the states.

Best Regards,

SqdnGuns
I have been checkling flights from BKK > LAX and was suprised at the cost.

To fly her on Eva Air on June 5th, one stop in Taipeh for a few hours, it's only $640 USD. On Thai Air, direct flight it's $1,000. I am debating on which one, I like the idea of her flying direct but she wants me to save the $ to spoil her when she gets here.....LOL.....I'll spoil her anyways.

Mid June we will be moving to a new home in Huntington Beach, she will love it!!

I remember reading on the BKK embassssy site NOT to purchase airline tickets until the visa has been issued, it only makes sense. I have not purchased her ticket yet and won't until she picks up her passport with visa. I figure it will cost me about $900 for her ticket from BKK to LAX.

Ou has her interview May 29th, I sent our I-29F in on June 18, 2007, by the time she gets here, it will be almost 1 year from date of filing.

Yes I know... I read that too... My problem with my tickets is not the point here. I made my bed and I'll lay in it. The serious difference in processing times ONCE AT THE BANGKOK EMBASSY is the issue.

We got Packet 4 first and well b/4 them and our interview is 6 weeks after. THAT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL.
The Embassy (if looked at like a business) seems to have no controls in place. I can understand that at some point they realized that they needed to fill some more interview spots in May and so they did but they had someone asking for an appointment change and they also happened to need to fill some spots and still they didn't entertain the change. Didn't even write back!!!!

Don't try to make sense of it, you'll drive yourself nuts. You're getting worked up over something that you cannot change. I got screwed a few times by CSC, look at my timeline, I was pissed but it was out of my control.

Hi everyone...

Just letting you all know my fiancee and I arrived in the US on the 17th. Our POE was San Francisco. I was a bit worried about the amount of time it would take for us to clear immigration and customs but it took us only about 30 minutes total. Very easy. The immigration agent only asked if we were aware that we needed to marry within 90 days of entry.

The only thing that I didn't like about the whole trip was the flight back. We had to leave BKK early because there was a typhoon in the South China Sea we had to fly around. Pretty bumpy. Actually the turbulence was bad all the way through Tokyo until maybe an hour out of San Fran.

Great!! Ou and I were just talking about you two last night. I'll let her know you guys made it safe and sound.

Has anyone who has gone through the interview EVER had an officer tell them that a document in Thai needed to be translated into English? This is Thailand we're talking about after all... they are not exactly known for consistant application of law/rule/policy etc. I realize (and have all along) that the Packet 3 stuff says that English & Thai are fine anything else needs to be translated.

Hey Thee_Rak,

Also, the Packet 3 sheet explicitly says the only documents that need to be translated are those that are not in either English or Thai.

Get them translated, you will need the translated documents when you file AOS.

Any document you have in Thai, birth cert, education records, etc.....get them done while your there.

Hey guys, posted this awhile ago but I don't think anyone saw it. Either that, or you are all mean and don't want to answer it!! No... just joking laughing.gif

But anyways, does anyone know how to see if the embassy has received our packet 3 yet? Should I just email them at visa.bkk.state or whatever their email address is, and ask them? I sent them an email about our NVC papers and they responded VERY quickly.

Also, what do we do after they receive packet 3? Pretty much just wait for packet 4 right, if we've gotten everything out of the way such as medical, police, etc.? How long should we expect to wait for packet 4?

Thanks guys

And I answered that here, it's on this page.

Packet 4 only took about 10 days after they received the Packet 3 she returned.

Questions asked:

1) How, where and when did you meet your fiance?
2) Since we met first online, they asked her to spell the website. Not sure why that was.
3) How do you communicate with your fiance?
4) How long did your fiance stay when he visited you?
5) Where did you visit when your fiance was in Thailand (landmarks etc)?
6) Did your fiance ask you to marry him?

you need a document stating that she is single. You can get this in her hometown. It's just a paper saying she is single, is legally able to marry, etc., and I believe it needs to be translated but not sure. i would assume so.

Yes, needs to be translated and certified. The village police commander can do this, your fiancee will need witnesses to attest that she has not been married.

Hey Sqdnguns, did you morph into tingtongfarang?
How did it all end with the medical? OK??

LOL.....yup, I am now TingTongFarang.

Ou went back the same afternoon to complete her medical. When she arrived there, she showed them the e-mail that I had forwarded to her from the embassy saying that the shots for cervical cancer were NOT required.

They then proceeded on with her medical, in the morning, they would not do anything until she agreed to the shot. By the time she saw the Dr, everything went smooth. The Dr told her that the cervical cancer shot WAS required and she showed her the e-mail. He basically told her that he would not sign off on her physical unless she has the shot. #######

She called me in a panic, 2:30 AM PST, not knowing what to do, I told her to just get it and I would contact the embassy and tell them that it is my feeling that the hospital/Dr were basically extorting money from patients.

If you recall, when she went first thing in the morning, she was told that the shot alone was 12,000 Baht, funny thing is that when she went to pay for the medical and shots, the total was only 8,400 Baht. Something fishy going on here......

Ou was so upset with what had happened that she forgot to go back with her receipt to pick up her results. She went back to Bangkok yesterday and picked it up. Good thing she did not go back to Surin, she went to Koh Samet to visit her sister so she did not have to endure another 6+ hour train ride just to pick up the medical results.

Once I have the name of the Dr from Ou, I keep forgetting to ask her, I will draft up a letter to the embassy complaining about the practices of the hospital in regards to the cervical cancer shot requirement. As stated before, nowhere in the paperwork provided by the embassy or the embassy's web site does it say that this is required. Not to mention the e-mail that I had received from the embassy stating it was not required.

Hopefully none of you will have to deal with the same BS from Bumrungrad Hospital.

I forwarded the e-mail from the embassy to my fiancee "Ou", she printed it out and then called the hospital back to let them know what the embassy had to say. Their response was basically, "Oh......."

Ou asked them if they could do her physical as planned today but they said the Dr leaves at 1100. Ou said why should she be delayed when it was their mistake to begin with??...............Well, they had her come back and she just called me, had all the bloodwork done, X-ray's, etc....just waiting for the seal of approval from the Dr.

From the way it sounds, the medical is a breeze, she has only been there for an hour and a half.

Ou also said that she met a young lady who has her interview on the 17th, who would that be, anyone Teerak here? I asked her if she got her number so she could call her after the interview to find out how it went and what the questions were, DOH, she didn't even think of that.

I need clarification on this before I pay 12,000 baht for a shot that's not even required here in the states.

Best Regards,

SqdnGuns

Wow.. it saddens me to hear that the hospital is trying to scam.. my girl canceled her trip for the medical and will do it later so that she can be aware. thanks for the update.. one more question do they give the medical paper work stuff back in a sealed envelope or do the hospital sends it to the embassy>?

The nurse even told me it was REQUIRED..........

The e-mail:

Dear Mr. SqdnGuns:

No, the shot for cervical cancer is not required for immigration purpose.

Greetings,

My fiancée is at Bumrungrad Hospital for her physical right now.

They are telling her that she needs the shot for cervical cancer since she is under 26 years old and it will cost 12,000 baht. Is this true? Nowhere on the paperwork for her medical and on the embassy web site it states that this shot is required?

I need clarification on this before I pay 12,000 baht for a shot that's not even required here in the states.

Best Regards,

SqdnGuns

I spoke to one of the nurses and she said that this has been a requirement for 3 months now. #######!!

This shot is not even required here in the states and I think the hospital is scamming.

I just fired off an e-mail to the embassy for clarification, tried calling but it is only a recorded message.

This pisses me off.........

Hey everyone. Wanted to give an update since Im over here right now.

Interview came and went, and all is APPROVED!
Finally, all done!

I am so happy.
But i wanted to give everyone a heads up on the new process that they are doing since the interviews started back up in march.

NO ONE and I mean no one can come up to the counter for the interview like before. No lawyers, no fiance, no one.
If you plan to go to the interview, you basically have to sit there and do nothing.

SOme of the people giving the interviews are nice. A couple questions is all they ask, the approved. Others...not so much. They want to know a lot more about everything.
The interviewer giving my fiancee the interview seriously drilled her with questions for a good ten minutes.
I stood up and walkd over by the wall so I could hear all the questions being asked to all of the girls as I waited her turn.
SOme got out of there with a simple "where does he live" or "Where did you meet him."
Others, like my fiancee got the FULL interview.
Id recommend anyone who has an intrerview coming up soon, have your fiancee know inside and out the details of everything you mentioned on the "proof of having meet in past 2 years" paperwork, because there is a chance they will ask many many questions. ANd it can be hard to hear them talking. Its very load in that room.

Oh, and it CAN take more than a few days to get the VISA. some got them same day. Some the next day. We had to wait 4 days for ours. But Im finally out of Bangkok now. Now Im spending some time relaxing up in Udon.

Hope all is well with you all. And I hope anyone having an interview soon has good luck and gets one of the easy lines for the interview with little questioning!

We are heading to the States on the 16th together. FInally after more than a year this is all over.
Im very happy right now.

Thanks for the heads up and CONGRATS to you and your better half!!

Anyone know if I need to do a "certificate of non-marriage" along with my Fiancee? Just curious.

If you have never been married, I don't think the USC has too. Have you ever been married? If so the divorce decree will be sufficient.

Thanks Jamie, John and bigsky!

I am going to have her stay @ Ruamchitt Travelodge, close enough to the hospital and far enough from Nana.

I am trying to find a decent hotel for my fiancee to stay at when she goes to BKK tomorrow, she has her physical on the 14th. I sure as hell don't want her staying at Dynasty or any other hotel on Soi 3. Any suggestions that are clear of the illicit side of BKK and close to Bumrungrad Hospital?

I would also like to be able to pay via CC online if that is possible, that will surprise her so she will have more spending money at MBK.

Thanks!!
