K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPort of Entry-JFK
I came in through JFK nearly 3 weeks ago, the lady who was directing us non usa citizens through see that I had a big brown folder in my arm (along with the whinging teenaged boy I was also dragging along) and she directed me to a officer who was processing all people including VWP, my son moaned that our line was longer than others and the lady said it was because the bloke she had directed us too had more experince of processing visas.
Once we got to the desk he took my brown envelope and our passports and I-94's asked me to do the finger print thingy and look into the webcam type thing, he asked my when I was getting married I told him I wasnt doing that all again as we had already married the year before and that I was coming in on a K3 and not K1 he smiled and said "good" (I think it might have been a trick question or suink).
He then stamped our visas and I-94's clipped them into our passports then gave us a "Welcome to The United States" and sent us on our way.
We (my son and I) walked away thinking "is that it ", but I think it all depends on who is working the desks as to what kind of reception they give you

I hope that your husbands entry through JFK is as unmemorable as mine :)

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLets get it on!
Hello there

Good luck with your process, you find loads of fellow sufferers here all at different stages of the visa process.
I know that loads will help you along your way when you doubt yourself or have questions to ask about just about anything (Without the help and advice I got on here I know I would have been a total wreak during this whole thing).

QUOTE (hheaven67 @ Jun 7 2008, 05:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all...I've been looking on VJ for answers but not finding much when it comes to the kids...

I just want to be prepared for when we arrive in the US...I plan to file my AOS & EAD as soon as I get there...as my son will be K4, what do I file for him? same thing? do I have to file an I-130 for him first? thank you in advance!

jen

Hi there
All you have to do for your son is to send in thew same application that you are sending in for yourself so one set of paperwork for you and one for him you can put it all in the same envelope (I did for my son and it took us all of 5 months from date we sent it in to date of greecard in hand and we had a rfe) all i did was copy everything I used for evidence on my claim and attatched it to my sons (birth certificates, marriage certificate etc).

good luck with it all

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresthese stories make me so mad...
Although I am here and a greencard holder and although our journey was quick I totally agree with the illegal person theme that you have going on here I come from the UK and we have a big problem with Illegals too, yeah some of them go to UK or USA for real honest to god issues like war/persecution/displacement but a vast majority are economic illegals and they seem to swamp the hospitals/schools and welfare systems so it makes it harder for those seeking a way in through legal and right terms, it also make the citizens of the host country madder than hell and have a real hatred of the immegrants when they are placed on waiting lists for surgery or cant get their kids into the school of their choice. What we need to remember though is that many of those from wherever they are from really do need the help of the host county and to paint all illegals with same brush is really wrong.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEmailing DOES pay off...

Thanks Cassie et al!

I think the point of fact is, 'my money's as good as yours'! Simple.

No amount of preaching 'dont do that because it might balls up somebody elses's chances of getting email replies months down the line', doesnt wash with me. I see the other side of the coin....but i choose to ignore it.
Selfish? C'est la vie!

I guess that makes me selfish too then (hey ho)

I emailed them every day untill they got p***** off with me and gave me a date (or maybe it was just my time to be top of the embassy list that day), but I like to think it was me mailing and agging them every day.

If it makes you feel like you are doing something productive instead of just sitting at home watching the hands on a clock move then what harm can it do huh?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLondon Embassy Info

Sent my Packet 3 last Wednesday and e mailed the embassy today for an update.. this was the response

We have no record of having received the forms to which you refer. However
there is a delay of 3-4 weeks between the date the forms are received by the
Embassy and the date in which they are processed and entered on to our
system. As soon as the Immigrant Visa Unit has received the forms and
completed any additional processing on your application you can anticipate
receiving an appointment date for an interview within 8 weeks

I'm hoping these timescales are inaccurate and I'll hear alot quicker!!

Helen

I think that most of us lot from the uk got the same email and then amazingly they send you the email saying that they have your documents after you email them again after a week of the first message.

Well I am back in Essex after my interview this morning in London.
I cant believe how painfree it was.
We (hubby and me) got there well early at 8:30am-ish and after a little wait we were let into the embassy where I was given the number 006 and told to take a seat and wait.
After a wait of about 10 mins I was called to window number 1 and a really nice woman (who I couldnt understand) took the pics and visa payment slips and although she was asking for other stuff I didnt know what she was saying so I just handed stuff over in the order that I thought she wanted.
She then gave me the courier slip and told us to sit back down.
No sooner had I sat down when I was called back to window 1 as she had forgoten to give me my xray (that had been sent over to the embassy from the Doctors in Knightsbridge).
Anyway we sat back down and after 10 mins or so we were called to window 13 where some right nice friendly american bloke was waiting for us.
He asked a couple of questions like "Did I enter the US on the VWP" to which I said yes, he asked where in US we would be living I told him NY and he asked my husband what he did for a living my husband replied that he was a farmer and the bloke then asked me what I thought about farming (I replied that there were cows there and that seemed to appease him haha).
He then looked over Jac's permssion to leave document and then said "well everything looks good here we can go ahead and issue the approval"
I was a bit gutted I got no "welcome to America" so I asked him if he could say it to me so he said that I was jumping ahead of him as he still had to tell me about the POE etc but then after that he said them words "WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"

SO I walked out with a big s*** eating grin on me face paid the courier fee and hurried home so I could take off me shoes that had been killing me.

SO now to the packing up and booking flights etc.
I would like to thank all those that have helped me so much these past few months

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionA few questions for people how are going through or who have gone through London...
Most pharmacys have the digital cameras now that can adjust to the US style pics (I went to the pharmacy down the road to me and they did just fine for the interview and medical they cost £3), you can have them done at snappysnaps (a national company) and they charge £10 here in London.

I think that you just tick all that apply to you, I didnt use the one the embassy send out as my pack 3 got lost twice between the embassy and my home.
Iam sure that someone will correct me if Iam wrong

Good luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCustodian Paperwork Needed for Interview
I drew up a statutory declaration that stated that my ex gave permisson for our son to move to the states with me, this then had to be signed by my ex infront of a lawyer.
This was asked for at my interview in london, that was all I gave them as I forgot to take all the court papers saying I had sole custody with me.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 - medical query
Hello there

I booked my medical back in December and had it done in January I booked it before I got the pack3 from London.
They just need your case number.
They send the results direct to the embassy after 2 days and the embassy keep it all and then give you your xray back at the interview
