IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMissing Info/864-ds230
Hello all,
We mailed the completed DS230 back to the NVC on April 13th and were convinced that all the i's were dotted and t's were crossed, but to no avail, no surprise, a checklist was generated. In the NVC recording it was noted that the checklist was mailed from Portsmouth, NH on 4/24 and mind you, I only live 20 minutes from Portsmouth, we received the checklist on May 1 and it required more documentation and complete answers to items within the DS230. That wsa the least of the problems. Apparently my wife had a lapse in her time line for places she had lived since reaching the age of 16 (#20 on the DS230) and by correcting the mistake we are now required to obtain a CNCC (police certificate) from Hong Kong, finger prints, authorization letters, etc... Just when you think all is well, whammmmmmm. This request will set us back at a minimum 4 weeks +. What makes this so difficult is that she is pregnant and we have a due date of June 26th and I had high hopes this would have been completed in time for her to have the child in the US. QUESS NOT! Oh well, I needed to vent, hope I didn't bore anyone.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI need to find any Congressman from Florida who can help with a visas process!!!
Speaking from experience, your representatives will fail in expediting your visa. Most of them have a congressional contact within the US embassy in Manila who will only reiterate the procedure involved with obtaining a visa and there is absolutely no way of sidestepping the procedure, unless it is a life and death situation. I certainly advise you to try to contact your representative but prepare to be disappointed. I have called every congressman, representative and senator but to no avail have not received any favorable results. I am also a candidate for a seat representing the 9th district here in the New Hampshire house of representatives in November 06. Good Luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Acceptance
It isn't a question of a wrong box checked or not checked but an issuance of a form that does not supply information for the applicant to respond too. It would make the situation easier to comprehend if more information was included with this document. I am not sure if I would agree that she is AR/AP.

Sounds like she is in AR/AP and the 221g is only a temporary denial for name checks, missing documents or further investigations on your case. I would email or call the embassy and tell them you do not know what documents are missng and see if someone just ticked off one of the wrong boxes. Once the AR/AP is completed they should contact her to come back to the embassy with documents they need, second interivew or to surrender her passport for further processing. Good luck.

Mary

Also, whether this means anything, the demeanor of the CO was very positive! Again, my question is; if the visa is approved, does the CO indicate such at the time of the interview?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Acceptance
My wife and stepson had their interview Oct 12th in Manila and all seem to go well, but, at the end of the interview she was instructed to wait and return to a window when her number was called. When her number was called she received a document from the clerk, "Dear Immigrant Visa applicant, We are unable to complete the processing of your immigrant visa application (under Section 221 (g) of the Immigrant and Nationality Act) until you present the following documents: Here is the confusing part; there is NO CHECK MARKS indicating any documents requested??????? Also, at the bottom of the form it is checked at; WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR FROM US; We must review your case before it can be processed further. Please wait for a letter from us telling you when to return to the Embassy with the documents marked above??????? for another appointment. Has anyone ever received this document as descibed? Does this indicate approval of visa or not approved? Are the CO's allowed to indicate approval at the time of the interview? Is this a method to allow for additional processing time because of the many requests for Visas in Manila? I am dissapointed, confused and unsure as to the current status of the visa. Help.

Congratulations!!!! We too are under AR/AP and have been since Oct 10th, 2006 I don't think there is any validity to your comments about the C.O. meeting any mandated quotas regarding AR/AP. Good luck! Hi Mhel!
