US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	Calling Islamabad Embassy v 3	I need this for his ITIN number for the IRS. The IRS sent me a letter and said I have to respond within 45 days. Waheed lives in Karachi. Does the embassy in Karachi have a notary? What is the "issuing agency" for pakistani passports? He cannot get an Apostille because Pakistan is not on the list of countries. So our only options would be if the US embassy in Karachi does notary or getting a certified copy from the "issuing agency". Grrr .. Now DOS tell us we will be getting visa very soon. I still do not believe them and I think someone is playing a sick joke on us. How long is "very soon" to them? It could be next week or it could be a year from now. Or maybe it is just a lie. We do not know. Now, we are waiting like crazy people again. Waheed is sleeping with his cell phone and checking it ten times a day to make sure he did not miss a call. He said it is better to be BLANK. I watched Revived wait three weeks and then embassy people wake up and call. And I think it will happen for us too. Ybutt20, you have been waiting a very long time and I hope and pray you will come from the blackhole of AP very soon. Sibtain, my friend, I pray for you too, every day. I was surprised to see it too because I have read that at times it take up to three weeks for people in Karachi to receive their passports. but I think the reason may have been because I live 5 miles away from the embassy and they simply hand deliver the passport to our local AmEx facility in Islamabad. What a relief that this is over...it will make my trip to Karachi this weekend less stressful knowing that she will be coming home with me when i return to the states. I wish the rest of the people still waiting the best of luck...this process has been extremly difficult. dkoon3 It is so nice to see someone go through this process so smoothly. I looked at your timeline and rarely do you see someone from Pakistan go through this process without landing in the hell of AP. Being apart from you loved one is so difficult for everyone but now .... it is your Happy time. My best wishes to you and your lady. When I call them, the only response I have ever gotten from them is that our case is pending administative processing. They will never tell me anything else. Today I asked her... We have been through two home visits, three requests for more information, and 8 months of waiting since his interview ... So just what are we waiting on now? She told me that we are waiting on the name check to clear. I read lots of things on this site and everyone says that suddenly one day, it is over. Or they say when he gets home it will be like we were never separated. I believe what they are telling me, but, I cannot even imagine it in my mind. After all this time everything has become surreal to the both of us. Waheed and I are very good at being a Cyber Wifey and Hubby but one day it will all change. Some days I am sad, Some days I am mad, and other days I am numb. I just pray that this hell is over for all of us soon and we can be with our loved ones like browneyedgirl. She has waited a long time for this day and I am simply over-joyed for her and her guy. US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	Calling Islamabad Embassy v 3	Hi SIBTAIN I am hoping he does get his visa this month. It is 7 months since his interview so we are at the average time for AP. I know it can go longer but I am hoping it comes this month. I broke my ankle at work last week, so now I am at home in a cast. Waheed is so upset that he cannot be here right now cause I am injured. But I am doing ok. My kids are taking very good care of me. This would be a good time for Waheed to come so I can stay at home with him and not work when he first comes. So pray for us. Since the embassy took her passport and told you that they will be returning it in 7 to 10 days means she IS getting her visa. The three week wait is because ISLAMABAD EMBASSY IS THE SLOWEST FREAKING EMBASSY ON THE PLANET. Don't worry FaisalShirin4eva ... Her visa is coming Take a deep breathe and relax. Did they tell her it would take weeks to process her visa? (That would be Administative Processing) They told most of us it would takes weeks. Administrative processing could last anywhere from a few weeks to whenever. If DOS told you administrative processing then more than likely you are in administrative processing, otherwise they would have told you that your visa is being issued. I would suggest that you both settle down. Write to the embassy asking the status of your case. PakIVQuery@state.gov Put your ISL case number in the subject line and ask them your status. Call DOS once a week to inquire about your status. Hopefully, this will not last long for you and since she is female you have a better chance of it not lasting too long.
