PhilippinesYou're apporoved!

Reading the Embassy reviews would appear to indicate that some people actually hear the words "You're approved", while some hear something like "your case looks okay".

Seems like people who said they were told that they're approved, they received their visa within days. Meanwhile, my fiance was told her case looks good - and it's been over 2-weeks now, and no visa yet.

I'm wondering if "your case looks good" is code for something like, "we need to check into something more/delay your visa issuance/etc." or what?
Why didn't WE get "you're approved"? Our case should have been a breeze. We've known each other for a third of our lives (11.5 years). No police/arrest record by either of us. Both healthy. Why are they stalling??

I dont remember CO said anything to me about "you are approved" or "your case looks good". They just told me to pay visa delivery and done. Took 1 month before I recieved my Visa. Dont worry to much about it. They will tell you right away after the interview if you going to have a problem and if they need more documentation if they are not satisfied of your papers or proof of relationship. Some people just lucky to recieved their visa shorter than 2 weeks, some is longer than that, but it just the same. Just let her enjoy the days she have left in Philippines coz she gonna miss it alot when she's already here.

PhilippinesClothes Advice for My Filipina Wife

Any man that wants to "show off" his wife in the manner you're suggesting is with her for the wrong reasons. He is supposed to keep her safe from prying eyes. If my husband expected me to wear stuff like that I would think he married me to simply be "arm candy" (as your OP stated) and not because he loved and respected me as a person. He of course likes me to dress nice but that first pic you posted I could believe she was a street-walker and up for sale. The second she doesn't have a brain and needs to flash her boobs to get things done. Whether you want to admit it or not clothes send a msg, and those are NOT the msg you want to be sending.

My husband doesn't like men looking at me. He is the jealous type, and I have to admit I prefer knowing he loves me enough that he can't bear the thought of a man even THINKING about me like that, rather than going out of his way to make men look at me.

Also, my husband loves his cars/trucks yes. Also his guns. But he locks these things up, takes care of them and keeps them safe. He also doesn't do awards or antlers or trophies on the wall.. he doesn't NEED a bragging wall. He has no need to flaunt what he has, he doesn't need the validation.. it appears you do.

 .

Occasionally I want my husband pick a dress for me everytime they have an event or a party at his company and he need to bring me. I dont want to wear something that inapoppriate at that party to imbarass my self and my hubby with his boss and colleagues. I'm already 25 years younger than him, . Dont want to be look like a hooker and him like D.O.M..So atleast we want a formal, sexy and young, yet mature dress with me lol. I love my husband dearly though  .

PhilippinesClothes Advice for My Filipina Wife

If it was entirely up to me, I'd have her shop exclusively at Walmart for her wardrobe, but apparently my fashion sense is just above that of a whino's. So I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to shop for clothes for her? Miniskirts with long boots? Low cut blouses? Are there any clothing stores that cater to arm candy with discriminating tastes?

Lol why dont you just let her shop everywhere she want, and let her pick the kind of clothes she like, as long she know what she can afford from her budget. But I shop most of the time in BEBE, Guess, Macy's and Ideeli online. But not now that I'm pregnant. Depends actually of the occasion where I'm gonna need the clothes. Hubby never get involve with "shopping" he hates that word LOL. I am even the one who shop with his wardrobe since we got married, well aside of his Tux and shoes.
Just drop her in the mall if she still not driving and wait for her somewhere or in a bar lol. Make her call you when she's done and pic her up. Not sure about her, but it's kinda awkward going shopping with a boyfriend or a husband, cant shop really good and it's kinda like I have to hurry coz I know someone is bored.

Philippinestrying to be upbeat
Dont be so mean and rude to yor wife's parents lol. It doesn't mean that they are poor and need a help from you means they are money grabbing people. Just help as much as you can, tell to your wife what's your deal and let her explain that to her parents nicely. No need to show them an attitude :) .

My husband knows how much I love and dear to me my family in the Philippines, and he respect that. We send $300 monthly to them as part of our monthly budget. It was sooo awkward to me before until I got a job and making atleast $1400 to $1600 a month. Thanks to my job lol.

Congrats Btw... hope you'll recieve the visa soon !

PhilippinesApply for U.S citizenship or not ?

Here's the info from the Phils Bureau of Immigration website. There's a link at the bottom to download the forms and a FAQ section that answered all my questions. After naturalization it looks like a good idea to go to the nearest Philippine Embassy and submit the docs and take the oath. I guess it could be done if and when you went back to the Phils but I'm guessing it MAY be a bit easier to do stateside.

Thanks for the link :) .

PhilippinesApply for U.S citizenship or not ?

The provisions of this section notwithstanding, the acquisition of citizenship by a natural born Filipino citizen from one of the Iberian and any friendly democratic countries or from the United Kingdom shall not produce loss or forfeiture of his Philippine citizenship if the law Of that country grants the same privilege to its citizens and such had been agreed upon by treaty between the Philippines and the foreign country from which citizenship is acquired.

Keep in mind this was written in 1936. I have no idea what agreements the US has with The Philippines. We need more and current information about the process.

It may be that the Filipino does not lose his citizenship when he becomes a US citizen.

That would be wonderful if that is the case lol. It's just hard for me to give up my citizenship. For me I am a filipino and Philippines is my home country no matter what. I wouldn't change my citizenship if its just because of the reason that I can travel anywhere without visa or if its the Social Security benifits. And also another thing is, lets say I apply for U.S citizenship, is that also means that our daughter will be just only american citizen ? Coz her parents is both american citizen right ?

Ssooo many quistions lol. Maybe we should just go straight to Philippine Embassy and personally ask about this matter lol.
John&JuvyNot TellingPhilippines2011-09-17 08:17:00
PhilippinesApply for U.S citizenship or not ?

I don't see what the fuss is about. You won't "give up anything" for you child and husband. You can actually have BOTH U.S. and Philippine citizenship. I don't understand why you're "not looking forward to it." You should really be ecstatic that Philippine law allows citizen to retain their former citizenship.

Remember that it is very difficult to see, today, your future years down the road. It is a more wise decision to have more options available, than to limit it to one.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I didn't know about that. Thought dual citizenship is not existed. Thanks for the info. I'll check the link that you posted.
John&JuvyNot TellingPhilippines2011-09-15 05:55:00
PhilippinesApply for U.S citizenship or not ?

Good reasons:

What if you ever want to return to the US after you've retired to the Philippines? Maybe your child(ren) have built a life here and will remain. Your Greencard has residency requirement whereas Citizenship doesn't

Or if your husband falls ill and requires treatment in the US, as a Citizen you can just get on the plane with him no worries about getting anything approved.

How about international travel? US Citizenship gets you into some countries the Philippine Citizen with US LPR doesn't.

In general, plans change and you never know what unexpected things may happen by naturalizing you've given yourself a lot of options that otherwise don't exist.

Naturalize & reacquire your Philippine Citizenship then you'll have the bet of both worlds.

Urrgghhh :girlwerewolf2xn: Thanks for pointing that out. Couple of things there need to consider about in the future lol. Guess I'll do and give up anything for my child and my husband :) . But for right now, this is not something I make my self crazy about and need to do it right away... who knows maybe in next 10 years LOL. Still not looking forward to it if I dont really need it in the future for my hubby and our daughter.

PhilippinesApply for U.S citizenship or not ?
Just a quistion in my head for couple months now. I have couple friends here in the U.S that already a U.S citizen, and they keep asking me if when I'm going to apply for my citizenship. I keep telling them I dont know and It's not in my mind to give up my filipino citizenship, but they thought It's an Idiotic descision of me lol. All my family is in the Philippines and 100% for sure they have no plan to come live here in the U.S lol. I'm only here in the U.S because of my husband and coz of his work. But as of what he promise me  we will move in Philippines as soon as he retire in 11 years and have enough savings to build a small business there for us... well atleast that's the plan lol.

Also now that we are having a baby, It only makes me more think to just keep my filipino citizenship so our baby can also partially filipino citizen. I dont know if that is right though LOL.

So I'm just curious if what is really the benefits of being a U.S citizen if you are already legally living here ? :)

I'm in New Jersey and have a 10 years greencard. I'm in my 6 months of pregnancy now and also planning to apply for short term disability and maternity leave in next couple months. I'm still working but I also already start having a hard time working. Since the hotel where I'm working right now is under renovation and in

transmission

I didn't had a problem asking my manager to cut my hours from 40hrs to 25 hrs a week. Then my co-workers adviced me to apply for partial unemployment temporarily since I'm working less hours now and stop the claim of my partial unemployment when I filed for disabilty and maternity leave. I didn't know I'll be qualified for the claim but did tried, and I got it. I guess because they deducting it from my paycheck for 2 and half years and eligible for it even I'm only a greencard holder. So it maybe the same when we apply for our short term disability due to pregnancy.

Feedback of hubby on our relationship: He is recommending to his single friends that if they want someone to really take care of them they should consider a filipina wife. [My response to this comment, they have to get a responsible filipina coz bad ones still exist. ]

BTW, I am not my hubby's slave... i have maids that clean our house.

PhilippinesRegistering the marriage to philippine consolate

We waited 3 1/2 years to report our marriage at the Chicago consulate. I think we had our letter explaining why we waited so long notarized since it's free where I work. You don't need a lawyer. Your reason for not filing can be as simple as "we didn't have time to drive to chicago".

Kev n Jena

Is the notarized letter explaining why waited so long to report the marriage, is that a requirement if you didn't report your marriage right away or what ? Coz we also didn't report our marriage yet, just planning to do that next year same time to renew my passport and have my name change at the New York consulate.

PhilippinesSocial Security number for a baby..

Was your baby born in the US? Most US hospitals will help the parents apply for a SSN when the child is born. Check your hospital paperwork before you go requesting a second SSN for the child.

The baby does not need to be present.

Social Security Administration will have the requirements for a newborn to receive a SSN.

Yes born here in the US. Hospital only helped us to get birth certificate before they discharged us. Dont remember them giving as a form and filling it up to apply SSN for our baby.

I only use our regular phone from comcast.... Fee is not really that bad. Once in awhile their's a signal problem in comcast, specially that my parents live in a province so I try calling them through my verizon cellphone, and fee is actually also just about the same. I dont know if this topic should be posted in this site but oh well... I need to vent and hoping to hear others experiences , if there is any LOL. Anyway, my husband snores A LOT when his tired from work ! This didn't bother me before until our daughter's born. She is up atleast twice at night to be feed and if need to change her diaper, and I'm always having a hard time to go back to sleep when our daughter is already back to sleep coz all I can hear is his very loud snores ! Sometimes it's wake our baby up, then I have to spend another more minutes to put her back to sleep or put her in her swing and turn the music on so she just can't hear her father's loud snores lol. I even have to put pillows on his face and pushing him to the side of the bed, but he just throws those pillows on the floor and back closer to me and snuggles. I joked at him that even our neighboors can hear his snores, and he just said that he never snores  .

I remember that there was a commercial on TV about the thing that you can put in your mouth when you snores LOL. Wondering if there is any of you guys use that ??? This is just killing me now. I'm just so tired and need sleep. I'm thinking that me and daughter should just move and sleep in the baby's room but he also hates that idea, and was mad at me one time when I did that.

Thought I will feed her whenever I think she's hungry or atleast every 3 hours or less. But anyway, I wont give my daughter any solid food other than milk until she reach 6 months. It dont matter how healthy and rich of vitamins that food have, I will still wait for the right time of solid food. So you should probably just wait another more months before giving him again any type of juices, for the safety... just my opinion.

i believe that love knows no bounds. and i believe that marriage is sacred. today, people are confident of getting out of the marriage as quickly as they get into it because of divorce. maybe you should give your marriage/wife a chance. have a serious talk with her or get into counseling. there might be a reason behind her behavior. especially she's still new in the US. you might be giving her and her family favors, but maybe there must be something she want that she's too shy to tell you. some women, even you'll ask them what they want, they would never tell you what they want. they want you to know it. a friend of mine once shared her story with me.she also married a nice american guy. her husband told her, to please tell him what she wanted because he is not a psychic who read minds. maybe you can tell her that too, in a nice way. i am hoping you can get back again to those times when you both were still soooo much in love. God bless.

I'm sure there is nobody in this country wanna rely the government help. But you have to do what you have to do, if you can't afford it and if there is a help that you gonna get, take a advantage on it no matter how little it is. Hopsital bills and Doctors bills is ssoo damn expensive in this country. After my delivery they sent us our bills, it was scary amount if you dont have any insurance. Our insurance are AETNA and cover almost all the costs but we still did pay $3500 out of our pocket for the rest. Good luck to you and have a happy healthy pregnancy !

I'm not so sure about this, coz the claim that I filed is little bit different than what you want to aplly. You used to work before and paying taxes, try to call them and ask about it. Me my self, is a 10 yrs. GC holder, worked in a hotel fulltime for 2 and half years. I wasn't also sure before when I filed a claim for a temporary disability due to my pregnancy at 9 months when I can't work anymore. I did gave them a call and I got approved. Then another 6 weeks of continued claim after the delivery coz I can't go back to work right away. Then they have this thing family bonding for another 6 weeks for the new mother and the baby. Was eligible in all of it even I'm not a citizen yet. It was a big help. Give them a call. Good luck and congrats to your pregnancy !
