My passport and sealed envelope was returned to me in an envelope they had provided. I just brought the envelope seperate of the postage and they didn't need the envelope but used the postage. Whenever you ask for postage for aangetekende post at the postoffice you will get a sticker good for up to 5 kg. I can't remember the exact amouth but something like E 6.65

Hey guys, Thanks all for your helpful tips and suggestions regarding moving my stuff to the states, incumbent upon the fact that the Interview goes well. smile.gif I think the TNT is the best route indeed. Letty the container idea did sound enticing but tis expensive methinks smile.gif and I don't have that much stuff anyways. I looked around in Germany (DHL) as the border is right next to my city, and found the rates to be, on an average, €20-30 more. Oh well, shall have a few weeks to sell stuff off. Marktplaats here I come

One more question I had regarding the postage we need to bring to the embassy on the day of the Interview. For my B1/B2 visa interview in July '07 I took an envelope (Aangetekende brief) from the TNT filial in Amsterdam for the specified amount. It was big enough for my passport to be shipped back to me. I was under the impression I would need to take the same this time around.However I am told that if things go well, the Consulate will be returning the passport and the sealed packet with it, which might not fit the postage paid envelope I bring to the consulate. Any insights on what to ask for at the TNT booth? Cheers!

Just preparing myself ahead of time... How did you guys move your stuff to the US? Did you employ a movers to do the same? Or ship it to your addy in the states? If so could anyone recommend how to go about the same?

I had my medical yesterday, and thanks to everyone here, I knew what to expect. Dr. Schulte was quite nice and friendly, and the whole checkup lasted less than 15 minutes. Most of the time was spent waiting or filling out the forms. I was lacking a DPT booster so was administered that after the quick physical. They did take a vial of blood to check for SOA, etc. I had an abnormally fast heartbeat rate which the doctor commented upon, but told that I needn't worry for it could be due to a number of things (least of all being without my shirt in the examination room heh). I walked quickly to Jan van Goyenkade to get the XRay, and was done within 1,5 hours from the start of the medical examination.
PS Hep B isn't required for adults in my age range (20s), but I did start the immunization process at my local GGD, and took the Reispas to prove it wink.gif. Cheers!

Thanks a load for posting your experiences at the Medical. That was so nice of you! I am off to Amsterdam tomorrow morning. It is so much easier when you know what to expect. I found I was missing my BMR boost too, so I got it done at the local GGD the other day along with the Hep B vaccine starter.

And I, on 2nd June. I am so glad my fiancee will be with me at the Consulate! Do kindly post your experiences at the consulate when you get back!

As for the photos, I remember having had a tough time when I went for my B1/B2 visa back in the day. Had to actually scour for hours to find one who would snap and produce the pix in 2"x2" format. And this on the day of my interview. Oh well, now I always keep a cachet of them handy.

Hi all,

I am sure this has been asked ad nauseum but I couldn't really find similar topics for VSC... Being within the first month of our application (just the NOA1 and a whole lot of 'touches') would it be prudent to apply for Police clearance certificates already? I would need the same from three different countries (NL, DE, IN) and running around after the Packet 3 has arrived (if all goes well), would perhaps just take more time. How long are these certificates valid (from DE, NL?) and would the American Consulate accept those dated around 3-4 months before the date of the interview?

I'm writing to find out if anyone who recently (March 2008) went through the US consulate in Amsterdam could tell me what the vaccination requirements are before the K1 will be issued. Does the Hepatitis B vaccine series have to be complete (3 shots in 6 months) before the consulate will approve the K1 or can this be done once he gets to the US? We really don't want to have to postpone the visa interview for 6 months just to get some shots. Any information on this would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Don't open the envelop. There is nothing special in it, but the doctor will open it for you. It contains a few sheets to be filled out by the doctor and the x-ray center. It forms you can also find on the US department of State site if you search pretty good so I don't know why they made such a big deal about sealing it up, but oh well.....

Hi folks,

I received a sealed packet from the US Consulate in Amsterdam containing the medical forms I must hand over to the doctor on the date of my medical (this Friday). The packet is taped shut and has a green marker over the tape to ensure I think it shouldn't be opened. Also on the packet the officials (I presume) have printed - "Must be handed over to the medical examiner" or something to that effect.

I have read elsewhere on the forum that I must complete these forms before I go in for the medical examination. Is this true? Should I open the packet and fill them out?

Not a problem. It is indeed possible to obtain the certificate before the USCIS green light, and that was one of the questions I had as well. However, I didn't apply beforehand for I didn't know how long the process would take.
All the Indian Embassy requires is a letter stating what you need and why you need it - along with the form, fees, photos and a copy of your passport.

Hi, It should be enough to get a police clearance certificate from your local Indian Embassy in Singapore. It is a quick process, and you usually get the clearance by the end of the working day. The PCCs are valid for six months at the most. They cover the entire duration of your stay in India. You can find the form for requesting a PCC in the miscellaneous services section of the Embassy Website.

Everything we've heard about Frankfurt is true. It was relatively easy. The queue was really long, but the interview itself was simple and short. They didn't ask to see any evidence, asked one question about my taxes (why my daughter wasn't claimed -- her dad and I switch years), how we met, had he met my family. That was it.

Hopefully he'll get his passport back next week and be on a plane July 16th.

The strange thing that happened was the embassy kept the original birth certificates and baptismal certificates and the certified translations.. She asked to have them returned and was told it is better she go get all new documents.. Do they have any idea how difficult it was to obtain the documents to begin with.. geesh..

Thank you again for your prayers and well wishes.. We are much appreciative.. We wish everyone much success and a much easier road than we had..

YAY! Got our NOA1 in the mail today dated 1/22/08. Never thought I'd be so happy to get something that clearly states on it in various ways that it means nothing...gotta love the USCIS disclaimers. Good luck to the rest of the January filers!
