K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	How do you cope?	Like most here, the internet communication options are a godsend. We talk every day on Yahoo Messenger, had a vacation together every 3 months last year (even if for only a week at a time), Skype at the weekends, and Sunday night is out joint tv catch-up (Bones, Criminal Minds, The Big Bang Theory) the 7 hour time difference is a pain, but with Gin able to have Yahoo at work, we talk from the time she wakes up (sometimes 4.30am her time as she goes to the gym first) until the time she logs off to go home at work (12.30am UK time) normally. This year will be the crunch - she's aiming to come over for a week in April, but then that'll probably be it for time together until my visa comes through - the aim is to be over there for the end of August, with a September 20th wedding, but all things can change. It may be slightly different for us (I'm 39, Gin is coming up 38), and no doubt it is for may reasons, as everyone is different, but keep talking to your love, and use places like VJ to keep you sane	rallybug	Male	England	2011-01-25 10:37:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	K1 Wedding Planning -what is/was your plan?	I am not planning anything until my fiancee physically has the VISA in her hands . I have read where many couple have had to push back dates and cancelled wedding arrangements because of long processing times .I have 90 days to plan and get married afterwards. I have a tentative date but no concrete plans . More than that - from the date of issuing the visa, the overseas person has 6 months to enter the US using it, and then 90 days from entering to get married - so, in effect, from the day the consulate issues the visa, you have 9 months to get married, assuming you don't get on the plane for 6 months, as I read it	rallybug	Male	England	2011-02-10 06:08:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	K1 Wedding Planning -what is/was your plan?	We're aiming for a September wedding (anniversary of getting engaged), civil service at Gin's mum's house, followed by an evening reception at the local ward house which has a covered patio area with benches and tables, children's play area etc (I'm not Mormon, and Gin isn't any more, so no Mormon church wedding for us, thank goodness ). I think that Gin is up to around 200 people from her side coming in and out of the evening do (big families ), but mine will be probably 10 or so - long distance and two flights from the UK to Utah, plus with me hitting 40 this year means my aunts and uncles are pretty much all in their mid to late 70s, so don't want to travel that far. Once I have my LPR, we'll be going back to the UK for a reception for all the UK people to come to. I could do it on the AP, but all Gin's vacation time for 2011 will have been used up anyway. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Approved in London - Our Experience	...At this first cubicle they asked for originals and two additional copies of her birth certificate, decree absolute (divorce paperwork), affidavit of support, and passport photos. (This should come as no surprise to anyone, since it's all spelled out in the materials provided in the packet they provide.) They also asked her for my name, so be sure that you know the name of your fiancé(e) when you go for your interview, even though it isn't on the list of things they say they'll want from you. In return for all this, they provided her with a copy of her chest x-ray from her medical exam on CD, which apparently she will have to provide to the Customs agent when she arrives back in the US in a few days.... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December Filers	I am going to see my fiance next week I am spending 2 weeks with him and will have my interview at the consulate a day after I come back. I know it seems funny...but...I dont plan to have my POE till 12 Dec as we are having the ceremonial wedding at the end of Nov in my side of the world. It will be a little like the Hangover 2, Bangkok followed by a beach ceremony in thailand, hopefully, minus the drama. I also made a commitment at work which means I shouldnt leave the job till the end of the year. Right now..i'm occupying my time with getting stuff for the wedding...like the perfect shoe...and the perfect body! haha For the folks that are still waiting for their NOA2, hang in there! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December Filers	Of course, if I'm cheating and walking to the store then we get some chicken breasts, tasty hard cheese and some parma ham sort of stuff, with some spinach and green beans Get home, slice pockets into the chicken breast, put slices of the cheese in the pockets (one slice in the chicken, one in my mouth, one in the chicken, one in the mouth, etc ) and dust the fillets with some of the chili pepper. Wrap the chicken/cheese fillets in the parma ham, bacon, whatever, and put into a pre-heated oven at about 375 for 30 minutes, so that the cheese is melting nicely, and the bacon/ham has crisped up. Cook the spinach and green beans in a little water, not too much, and drain well. Put the greens on the plate with some butter melting on top, and the chicken with cheese wrapped in ham beside Job's a good'un, as we say over here	rallybug	Male	England	2011-06-14 16:29:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December Filers	I'd have to read the packet on the cake mix as I can bake my own sponge cakes from flour, sugar, margarine and eggs, but I'd still need margarine or similar for that, which isn't on the list. Oh, good grief, looking at the ingredients of a Betty Crocker cake mix, that can join the canned corn in the trash! All those unnecessary ingredients! I will be walking to the grocery store (1.5 miles away) or the nearest convenience store at the Walker's gas station for milk, at the very least - maybe take Pepper and Loki for a walk with me (Gin's Dalmatian and Shih Tzu). With milk, I can make pancakes, crepes, sponge cakes, much much more sweet goodness So, bake the potatoes in their skins When cooked, scoop out the flesh and make into a creamy mash with salt, pepper, milk and margarine (or butter, depends what's in the fridge) and some chili pepper for a little kick Put under the grill (broiler?) to brown off the top - hopefully there's some cheese in a back corner of the fridge too For dessert, there's two choices - 1) Take the eggs, flour, milk and sugar, mixed together to make a sponge and put it in the oven to bake. Once done, I'll need to fill it, so hopefully there's some strawberry jam (jelly?) or something in a cupboard. or 2) Take the eggs, milk and flour and make crepes or pancakes Do I pass?	rallybug	Male	England	2011-06-14 16:19:00

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December Filers	We're having to do two ceremonies/celebrations - the wedding and reception in Utah in September, then we'll be coming back to the UK at the end of March for a celebration with all my family and friends who can't make it to the US. As it currently stands, on my side in Utah there will be me, my best man, mum, dad, brother - they're the only guaranteed ones If I get up to 10 on my side it'll be a miracle - for Gin's side, if everyone comes to the wedding there'll be about 78 at the wedding, and 183 at the evening reception One of the joys of being nearly 40, I suppose - my mum was the youngest of 4, so my aunts and uncles are all in their 70s and don't/can't make that sort of journey (and some of them, plus cousins, friends etc) just don't have the funds to pay for the current flight prices (aka rip-offs!).	rallybug	Male	England	2011-06-12 08:10:00

Do they give you your passport back with the visa in it there and then in NZ then? Was it a week? 2 weeks? 3 weeks? They didn't know last week when we checked that packet 3 had been logged, so they didn't decide until after the medical results had been received, I think. I thought you have to wait until you get packet four before you can book your medical? But does anyone know how how our foreign fiances/fiancees will get credit? My fiance has awesome credit in South Africa and the United Kingdom....but does that transfer? Will he have to begin again? From what I've read, the only credit history that would transfer is if he'd held an AmEx card for more than a year. There's also something about adding him as a second card holder and inheriting your credit history, but I'm not sure on the details. Everything else, you're back to starting from scratch again, unfortunately - I'm in the same boat. It was just over $1000 for this flight the week before Easter (i.e., fly over to the UK on the Saturday, stay a week and fly back on Easter Sunday). But this number will be given to the doctor i presume during the medical ? because when i called the office today and asked she said that she only needs my contact details to book it.. so in short, i should be able to book it now, and if i havent received packet 3 before the medical date, ill just call and get a new date The London doctors took the LND case number, so it would appear that whether or not they need it when booking is country-specific. You can get the case number from the NVC on the number Mari quoted earlier in the thread.
