Russia, Ukraine and BelarusHow to save money on food?
yes we spend about the same not more then 400$ a month on food for 3 persons , and i believe safeway is one of the most expensive stores i would never shop there , we save a lot with collecting coupons from the internet to print out and looking always for items on sale and try to avoid the name brand products there is most of the time a cheaper version with the same quality with noname available and of course comparing prices in every shop we go to like walmart , aldi or shoppers .

also my husband is in the military and we have the option to go shopping for groceries on every military installation which does not mean it is always cheaper , sometimes even more then outside the base ....

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion10 Year GC
This is very confusing mad.gif , i guess i will just wait if they issue the card without saying anything about replacing it , then i will just leave it like that , still waiting for the extension letter for my son hope i will get atleast that , and yes we had to file at Vermont , because we moved last year summer from Virginia to Louisiana , i just hope what that man on the phone told us is true about my case that would be awsome .

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion10 Year GC
Hi Everybody , i have a question , me and my son applied on the 20.January 2009 for our 10 year GC at the VSC , i came here on K1 and my son with me on K2 , i got my extension Letter from VSC a few day's after we send the Application in and i got my Biometrics apointment 2 weeks later wich i have already done , but my son didn't recieved anything no extension letter no biometrics apointment nothing , not like it was before when we aplied for the 2 year conditional GC , i also need to mention that my son is 13 years old and will turn 14 at the end of March 2009 , so i got worried and Hubby called the number that was on the Biometrics apointment to find out whats going on with my son's status , the man on the phone wasn't sure so he went to ask his supervisor , then he came back and told us that since my son is 13 he don't need another biometrics they will just take the old fingerprints and picture of him , we told him that he is turning 14 next month and he said we don't have to worry about this they already send all our information out to the print office and he checked again on my name and adress and case number and told us that our case is about to close and we are good to go .
I was very relieved about that , but then i was just checking on my case when i found this at the USCIS website : If you have reached your 14th birthday since the date your card was issued, your payment is the biometrics fee of $80 is required. The base application fee is not required if you file the Form I-90 within 30 days after your 14th birthday. Total filing fee = $80.
Under the section replacing GC , so what should i do now wait and see when the GC comes in what date it was issued after or before his 14. birthday or call them again ? somebody here who had the same or similar experience ? any answer or information Apriciated . thanks in advance ,

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics
We filed back in January 2009 our I-751 i recieved my extension letter 3 days after we filed and the first week of February i had my Biometrics apointment went all the way from louisiana to missippi because thats the next office here , never recieved any extention letter for my son or Biometrics apointment , we called USCIS and they told us he don't need it because he is not 14 years yet , he turned 14 at the end of March now after 5 months wait we finally recieved a biometrics apointment for him which means we can drive all the way again mad.gif , this is getting rediculous he was on my aplication they should have known that he will need it soon as he turned 14 which was about 2 weeks after we called but they told us they would use the fingerprints and picture from the old card the 2 year one , does anybody know anything in that freaking office why not give my son the same apointment as i had ? i am so mad , now he can not go to this apointment because he is retesting in summer remediation on that day , so we have to make another apointment hopefully it won't delay everything for another few months .

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionUSCIS update
I just checked the USCIS webpage and they updated it since last night , first of all i couldn't find no I-751 no more and i was wondering (i am at VSC ) then i checked the timeline for the CSC prosessing dates and could not find anything either so i assume that they process the applications right away as soon as they come in ? and then i saw this :

WASHINGTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced that, in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), it has met all milestones set forth in a joint business plan announced April 2, 2008, resulting in the elimination of the FBI National Name Check Program (NNCP) backlog.

“Our close partnership with the FBI has resulted in the accomplishment of this significant achievement with national security as its foundation,” said USCIS Acting Deputy Director Michael Aytes. “This continued working relationship will help to ensure that name check processing is accomplished as quickly as possible without compromising security concerns.”

The final goal of the business plan was to achieve a sustainable performance level by the NNCP of completing 98 percent of name check requests submitted by USCIS within 30 days, and the remaining two percent within 90 days. This performance level will become the new standard.

These vastly improved performance levels were achieved through a variety of collaborative steps taken by USCIS and the FBI, including:

–o an increase in NNCP staffing made possible by the transfer of appropriated funds from USCIS funding and additional fee revenue for name check processing;

–o name check process improvements initiated by the FBI;

–o refinements in the name check file search criteria which enabled the FBI to focus on files most likely to yield pertinent search results;

–o training of NNCP staff on USCIS adjudication requirements and the applicability of name check search results to USCIS adjudications; and

–o other cooperative measures including assignment of USCIS personnel to the NNCP.

As is the case with all security checks undertaken by USCIS, any information provided by the FBI through these checks may require further evaluation and may need additional interaction with agencies outside USCIS to obtain updated or additional information. This could result in additional delays in processing and is not governed by the processing goals contained in the joint business plan.

In the majority of instances, however, the completion of a backlogged FBI name check has resulted in a “no record response.” As a result, USCIS has been able to resume normal processing of most cases which most often ends in a final determination of eligibility. Next steps in the adjudication of cases that were previously delayed as a result a pending FBI name check request may now include updating fingerprint results, scheduling interviews, requesting additional evidence and other reviews to determine whether the applicant is eligible for the requested immigration benefit. good.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionlatest i-751 processing dates for Vermont Service Center!?
I don't think NSC is the only one service center processing the I-751 since they are not processing those aplications no more the same as TSC ? this is what Jenn postet on June 29th !!!!!

I thought it might be a good idea to post this memo here. Maybe some will check this thread before sending their petition and avoid the delay of being transferred from NSC to CSC or from TSC to VSC.

You may send your petition directly to the appropriate service center as detailed in the following USCIS memo (dated 5/23/08):

Being proud of where you come from does not mean that you are in the states for the wrong reason. Just because someone is proud of where they came from means nothing and you are trying to be rude and indecent for no reason whatsoever. This is a celebration thread. My husband is proud to be Australian and I am proud that he is Australian and just because he resides in America with me does not make him less proud to be Australian.

Thank you Rings , i think the same way , and i am here because of my Husband i love him and i wanna be with him and that was the only way for us to be together his Job made it impossible for him to move to Germany so i gave everything up on my part to be with him , i don't think that is the wrong reason and i haven't regret my decision , not that i have to explain myself but maybe it helps others not to ask stupid questions about my opinion again , still this person who asked a Question like that should check very carefully why she is here in the US , that question says everything i would think .

Celebrate and enjoy! You have a long life ahead of you! You are German and be proud of being German and don't forget your home because that matters too. Your love will last long if you both can accept each other and where each other have come from. I honor Australia for my man and I love the country and he had to come here to be with me because I have kids here, but that does not mean he leaves who he is. He is still Australian and proud to be. Aussie Aussie Aussie oi Oi Oi! You should also be proud to be German and remember where you come from and who you are. We do not have to all be Americans to love an American. We love.. it's ok to love. And love is worth changing your life for *hugs*

Exactly , i still love my country no matter where i live and i will always go back to see my family and friends , and my husband has been in germany a few times , he knows where i come from and he really like germany too especially the cars , does that make him less of an American ? or is it required to be with my husband that i have to become American citizen ? well i will not think about that any further i will just Enjoy the good news and celebrate with my husband , no matter what other people say or think i won't let them ruin my night , Hugs back to Rings and best wishes for you and your Australien Husband wink.gif

Congrats. If you want to become a citizen then you will still have to deal with USCIS in a matter of 9+ months. P.S. 3 years of living with your spouce and maintaining a relationship, you are entitled to file for citizenship) or 90 days to your 3 year mark.

At last, we have received some news. kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif We had our interview in New Orleans on 9/15 and have hear nothing until this afternoon. I got an e-mail and then checked the USCIS website. They both said the Card Ordered on 9/30/09. I presume we will receive a letter about being approved.

I was about to call the Representative's Office and ask them to check on what was going on. I thought 16 days was a long time from the interview to not have heard anything.

Thanks to everyone who helped in this process. My wife doesn't know yet, because she has gone to Russia for a month. I will call her tomorrow and let her know the news. I did call my step-daughter and let her know she should be receiving her card soon. She is attending the University in Portland, OR.

I won't rest easy until both 10 year Green Cards are in hand. Next, is staring on the Citizenship, N-400 application which we can file in January 2010.

Congratulations , good.gif
