USCIS Service CentersANY JANUARY FILERS LEFT FROM CSC
Thanks Etripke,
I did recieve an email from the consulate saying they sent us the packet back in late MAy. We still haven't recieved it. I called USCIS today to see about changing my address and the NOA2( I hadn't read your email, new to this site AND blogging/chatting in general). They said we weren't approved til June 27. Very wierd... Just looking forward to all this being over and getting to be with my fiance again....

USCIS Service CentersANY JANUARY FILERS LEFT FROM CSC
I'm also a Jan filer with CSC and I've been wondering, WHAT"S TAKING SO LONG? We did recieve a letter our case was approved. I'm not sure if this is considered the NOA2, because it was just a letter and not a form like the NOA1 (which actually said Notice of action). So should we recieve another NOA2?

We got that letter at the end of May and we're still waiting for the packet. I've noticed other couples, even with fiances from Mexico have already had their interviews...

So why is it taking so long with us? Dealing with all this stuff with immigration, the NVC and the consulate is like wrestling with a black hole...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSponsorship K1 Interview
I am a school teacher. I usually earn 40,000 to 55,000 a year. However, last academic year I lived off my savings, so my 2006 taxes are for about 26,000. If I have a new job this school year, with a copy of the contract from my employer, will that be sufficient to be a sponsor, or should I just plan on finding a cosponsor?

thanks,

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Forms Questions K-1
Two quick questions, I've read the guides and seen the example forms and am still not sure.

Can my fiance put on his 156 that I , his fiancee, will be paying for his trip?

If we have a co-sponsor, my mom and/or stepdad, what do they write for their "relation to applicant"?

Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPetitioner's Birth Certificate needed for K-1 Interview?
So a US Passport is enough? I have had a really hard time getting my B.C because I was born in the Netherlands (to US citizen parents). I am the petitioner, USC.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionJuarez consulate question
I wanted to add to my post from yesterday, that YOU WILL NEED SOME PROOF OF INCOME. But if your bank accts are wierd, you could choose to first show them, for example, a letter from your employer.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionJuarez consulate question
It is good to have your bank papers in order BUT they may not even look at them.

When we went through Juarez (just over a week ago), they only asked my fiance if I had a job. I have a job offer but I haven't started yet ( I was last year in Mex). They asked for proof and he gave them a letter from my employer and that was that.

We had tax transcripts for the last 4 years, a letter from my bank, bank statements for 12 months, and a co sponsor, but we didn't show nor were asked for any of it. However, it makes sense to go well prepared, because they could just as easily ask you for it!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMexico K-1 Visa- What is going on?
Do the NOA2's come from USCIS, the NVC, or Juarez? Will it look like the NOA1 (same form different info?)

Thanks for your help!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMexico K-1 Visa- What is going on?
We filed our k-1 petition back in January. Our NOA1 Notice Date is Jan 30, 2007.

Even though I signed up for the CRIS updates, we never have recieved one and didn't here anything until the end of May when NVC sent us a letter in Mexico that the petition was approved. We still haven't recieved a packet, although via email the consulate in Juarez said they sent it at the end of May.

I NEVER RECIEVED A NOA2. I called the USCIS today about that and the lady said they don't send out an NOA2. Is that true? On this site people are always talking about them and in the guides it says to brig it to the interview.

Also she told me we weren't approved until June 27, when NVC contacted us saying we were approved back in May, and Juarez says they sent our packet in May.

Should I be worried?
What's going on here? I've read all the guides and have searched the NVC, Juarez and USCIS sites. Also the lady told me today it wasn't true we had to be interviewed within 4 mos of the approved petition.

If you help me understand this...
Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWaiting for a NOA2 from CSC for your I-129F?
Um you can add us to the list (Yoly & Valentin). Our NOA was dated 1/22/07. We finally got the visa today (k1- YAY!), but have never received the NOA2. They changed the date of approval to June 27th, which is after the NVC received and processed it and the consulate recieved it and sent us the packet. Go figure. I guess the good news is that some couples cases are being processed albeit that the NOA2's haven't been sent. However we'll all need them eventually for change of status.

Ok, I know this topic is old, but it appears no one replied to you... My work situation is really similar and I am wondering how it worked out for you?
Hopefully you are still on VJC, and HOPEFULLY all went well with your interview!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp!? I'm new to all of this and have lots of questions
ok
Yes, we plan to live in the US. That makes me think of another question, I don't know if you can answer:

After we get the fiance visa do they usually give him his temporary resident status before the fiance visa expires or will he have to go back to Mexico and wait for it?

Thanks so much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp!? I'm new to all of this and have lots of questions
Thanks for all your replys! It's so good to find a source for info from other people who are going through the same thing!

What do you all think about the engagment ring?

We have a lot of proof we have a relationship (we've been living together the past year), but we don't want a ring. But with proving our relationship, I wonder if they won't believe us if we don't have one.

Thanks again,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp!? I'm new to all of this and have lots of questions
My fiance and I applied for a K-1 Visa back in January, and recieved notice in May it was approved. As I imagine it is for anyone, the whole process is confusing and scary for us. being that my fiance is not fluent in English, researching the process has been mostly my responsibility, then translating what I understand to him.

He is from Mexico and so our interview is in Ciudad Juarez.

We are not traditional, and although we want to be married and start a faily are not planning on a big wedding or even an engagement ring, but I'm wndering if we need to have one just to "proove" we are together?

Also, I'm wondering about what we need for the interview. I've been living with him in Mexico for the last year. I'm back in the states now, but still don't have a job. When I get a job, I should have a contract, but I won't have months of pay stubs for our interview. Will I need someone else to sponsor him?

Also, does any one know if these visas are usually approved, or are many rejected?
Any other advice is welcomed. I love this site and have been searching on it... but this whole journey is confusing, frustrating, and scary. I don't know what we'll do or where we'll live if we don't get the VISA.

Thank you so much if you take the time to respond to me!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs there a list of "red flags"?
No, we are a bonafide couple and won't have a hard time proving it, we've been living toether for the past year.

I think I'm a combination of scared/worried of the whole process and I had heard age could be a factor.

Also, our age difference was hard for me to accept at first because we are socialized to expect the man to be older, not the woman. Luckily I have friends and family who are more reasonable than I (as well as my fiance) who told me that was a silly thing to deter me from exploring this relationship. Now a year later, it seems silly to me too, but in ths process you are opening yourself up to a lot of 3rd party judgement.

We are by the way 30 and 24, so we are on the young end of the spectrum.

Is there a list of "red-flags" on Visa Journey? Or can someone tell me what they may be? My beau/fiance is 6 years younger than I, is that a red flag?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfiling I-129F from abroad- general questions
Once again, I'm surprised how similar our cases, questions and problems are. Actually, we still don't have an interview, but it took about 5 months to get an approval, which is much longer than most of the folks on here, even those in Mexico and filing through CSC.

About notary: I think the only thing Vale and I are going to need notarized is the affidavit of support, which I think my folks are going to do anyways, and it sounds like maybe your folks are as well. So they can get it notarized in the US OR you can get it notarized (or something similar) at the consulate.

In Mexico, you will go to the Juarez consulate. I think there is less paperwork than is required for some of the other countries.

About proving you have a relationship: YES! it's really wierd and frustrating! It shouldn't be any harder to prove even tough you don't live together. Letters, even between you and others mentioning the relationship, photos... go to the Juarez consulate page, find the fiance packet info and they have there a list of ideas for proof http://usembassy.sta.../wwwfcdj430.pdf . For our original app we took fotos infront of movie posters with 2007 to prove we'd seen each other in the last year.

I don't have a birth certificate either, and so far have been using ust my passport.

Since we haven't had our interview yet, I'd still keep asking and looing for answers from members who are more experienced and knowledgable about all this! I would hate to misinfom you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfiling I-129F from abroad- general questions
I don't have any answers, but some more things for you to think about. We applied in Jan (also from Mex), and we have a lot in common about our situations. I think we will go to the interview in Aug, and I just got back to the US and I am looking for a job.

About the address. I put our Mexican address on our application and my parents address as where my fiance will live. They've been sending the NOA's to my parent's address and the other correspondence to Mexico. Sharing an address helps prove you have a relationship, but Mexican mail is really slow and unreliable and may slow down the process. However, later on, if you say how you lived together, they may wonder if that's true, who knows? I DEFINITELY wouldn't us your brother's address.

About the financial stuff, it appears to me, if you have a signed letter of intent or contract from a future employer, that can work. Personally, I plan to do both: have my forms filled out to be the sponsor, but also have my folks fill one out, ready to go, in case they refuse me as a sponsor. I haven't had an income for over a year but my last year tax return was 29,000 and if I get a job before Aug, I should have a contract I'll be making at minimum over 40,000 in future years. I think for 2 people 125% of the poverty level is about 17,000 right now. I guess it depends what type of work you think you'll find yourself in.

I am glad I'm in the US right now because I have more access to stuff like internet, copiers, my papers, stuff like that that I need for the application/interview, but I also really wish I could talk directly to my beau about this stuff. It's confusing enough with out having to talk over bad phoe and skype connections and through emails and text messages...

I hope everything works out!
