Philippineswhen's the right time to pay the DV?
Pay DV as soon as you have your MNL#. Then follow-up with embassy to make sure they send DV request to Delros. Then Delbros, to make sure they they got request, and also get a delivery date to NSO. Then NSO to make sure Delbros did in fact deliver docs. If they did follow up with NSO once a week until they give you a date that they sent back to the embassy. It will be a Friday. I think they have a scheduled pick-up time with Delbros, so you won't have to kick Delbros to makes sure it gets back to the embassy. Finally I called Grace at the embassy to confirm that the DV got back to embassy ,and that there were no problems.
This is what I did, and I am confidant that we should receive a pink slip only. It seems like a lot of work, but I read too many bad stories about Delbros not doing their job, so I wanted to makes sure everything was done well ahead of time. We payed DV 7 weeks before our interview date. I pray that everything is fine because I am flying there for the interview and I want her to fly home with me.

PhilippinesCOMPLAINTS FOR DELBROS.
I think the people at NSO and Delbros treat pinay differently then they treat the USC's. Ladies, heve your fiances or husbands call. They were ALWAYS nice to me, even though I was stern but respectful to them. They knew I meant business when I called.

OK, now a question. Let me get this straight after NSO is done with DV, they use someone from NSO or USEM to handle the docs??? Delbros doesn't touch anything again until its time for visa delivery?? Why do they use Delbros at all then. If USEM and NSO can coordinate doc handling AFTER DV then why can't they do it before-hand and eliminate the need for a courier like Delbros? It seem like a complete waste of time and money, let alone the aggravation it has caused to so many couples. I'll never understand why our governments work the way they do headbonk.gif

PhilippinesBombings in Mindanao
How does a group that is comprised of on 5% of the total population of the Philippines, think they deserve the ENTIRE island with the largest land mass?? Their actions have and will continue to drive companies and tourists away. My fiancee is from Iligan City, our interview is in 2 weeks and now I can't even travel back to see her family because of the senseless violence. I say eradicate the MILF vermin and be done with it. Give the muslims autonomy in a a region of Mindanao and call a truce.

PhilippinesTo all flipina women's(Watch Iwitness GMA 7)
Iwitness wanted to be there when Michelle and I met for the first time. They offered free hotel stay and to take us wherever we wanted to go, just to be featured on their TV show. It was kind of exciting at first, and we really considered it for a while. After thinking long and hard though, we decided to decline the offer. This was a very important and VERY personal moment in our life, and we didn't want a camera stuck in our faces when we first met. Looking back, I'm really glad we didn't do it.

PhilippinesVISA APPROVED!!!!!!!
Just wanted to let everyone know that Michelle had her interview yesterday and was approved. She said they were VERY thorough with her and asked for ALOT of evidences. She had everything that they required, and also asked alot of questions about my kids and previous marriages. I was there to go through with it with her, but I was not allowed entry into the embassy. So, any fiancees planning on attending the interview will NOT be allowed to enter. I had to sit in the waiting area for 6 1/2 hours for her. It was so hot, and I didn't know what was going on inside. She came out at noon after going in at 7am. I forgot to tell her that we wanted the visa delivery to be in the hotel we are staying at, and she told Delbros to deliver to Iligan. We went and had lunch, then went back to the embassy to change the delivery address, and I was AGAIN not allowed in the embassy. I WAS PISSED and made it very obvious. I chewed out the guard and the Embassy rep, but they acted like they didn't care. I'll be calling my congressman when I get home to find out exactly why a USC was denied entry into his own embassy. But, I guess it really doesnt matter because I am here with my mahal, and with Gods grace she will be returning with me next week biggrin.gif

Where are you coming to in Illinois? My fiancee will be her in August or September. I have alot of filipina friends here already. There is a Philippine grocery store very near here. I have a friend in southern Illinois that is married to a filipina, and they get together with other fil-amer couples quite often. Let me know what city you are coming to, and maybe I can help you.

This is exactly why I am flying back for the interview this week. Michelle is very shy. I don't want to have something like this happen to her without me there to defend her. This woman should have been terminated on the spot. The scary thing is that people like this ultimately have our lives and futures in their hands, but don't seem to care. Maybe the embassy needs to re-assess their hiring and training practices in the future. People like this shouldn't be allowed to make decisions about other peoples lives. She's obviously got some serious mental issues to deal with. But anyway congrats on finally getting through the interview. good.gif

when i had my interview there are some filipinas with their USC fiance/hubby. we noticed that they took long during the pre screeening and inside the room compare to the filipinos who goes by themselves only.

if i may suggest...dont show up to the CO or pre screener with ur USC partner UNLESS an emergency situation happens that needs the USC's presence.

hmmmm..sound weird for me, i mean heres your Man for you on your big day, i cant understand why theyre not making it big deal!!!
i hope they try to appreciate how hard, i mean spending time, money, effort for our Fiance to get here, just to be with us,
i hope theyll realize, and make it as big deal!!!!

cus they really dont require the USC to be present during the interview. so i guess we cant blame them if they say they just want the "applicant" inside...

The interview is to verify that you and your fiance do have a real and honest relationship. What better proof is there, than to be standing next to her on the most important day of the entire process? If the OP's husband hadn't been there with her, she would probably have been denied, because some lady CO was having a bad day. I don't care if it takes longer, or they grill us harder. We have nothing to hide, but I will be standing right beside her the whole time just in case an emergency happens.

There is a popular Filipino Store near to the USCIS Application Support Center at 888 South Route 59 Suite 124 Naperville, IL 60540-0962.

Naperville is considered a suburb of Chicago, so hopefully some VJ members can help more.

they also have karinderya inside and I like that store hehehehhehe

There's also J+S Pinoy right down the road on Rt. 34 (heading toward Oswego). It's in a strip mall, and has some awesome carry-out food.

The first response to this thread was blatantly rude to the OP and that is just uncalled for.

Maybe you should look at the OP's timeline in their signature. They filed May27, I don't think a 30 day wait warrants complaining about VSC being " soooooooo slow". I can complain, because today is 141 days for us. Thats more than you and the OP COMBINED!!!
If you think it was rude, too bad, I'm entitled to my opinion. Some of us here bled to protect the first amendment. DID YOU???

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSome VSC K1 information FYI
I wouldn't call anything under 90 days "SLOW" !!! Count your blessings that you're a VSC filer and not a CSC filer. July 7 will be our 150 day mark, and we've only had 9 approvals in the past 2 weeks. We could realistically be looking at reaching the 180+ day mark. It really burns me when I see VSC filers whining about how long it takes. VSC couples that filed AFTER me already have their fiancee's here in the states, while we can't even get our NOA2 yet. Please spare me!!!

Agreed... I am not sure what their problem is...

I spoke with my congressmans immigration aide about this last week. (My congressman is married to a Guatemalan, thought he would be a little help) It wasn't. She told me that CSC processes about 2/3 of all visas, thats why they are so behind all the time. She also told me that they are the "overflow" service center. So anything the other service centers can't seem to keep up with automatically get pushed off on CSC. So if VSC gets behind in their visa petitions, guess where they go? YEP!!! You got it, CSC!!!! I wonder what they consider "behind"? Maybe when their approvals start hitting the 45 day mark. That way, mine can sit that much longer. Wouldn't want the VSC to look bad now. If this was a private sector business, they would have been bankrupt ages ago. Sorry for the rant, but this is an INCREDIBLE irritant to me. I can't believe I shed blood for this country, and the first time I ask for anything of this country, and this is how I get treated. ranting33va.gif By the way the whole conversation with her, was a complete and utter waste of my time.

A delightful update! Dennis and I just got back to our hotel from our interview. We were at the embassy for almost four hours..and it was worth every minute. We were called up to hand in our paperwork and the lady who took it was VERY impressed with our organization (yay VJ!), then sat back down. Then Dennis was called up for his fingerprints and we were told to sit and wait for our interview. While waiting we heard the two couples in front of us have their interviews, one had been denied for a tourist visa last year because the officers didn't believe she would come back at that time. They were finally approved after a pretty in depth interview. The other couple asked specifically when they could pick up their visa and were told that it was impossible to do them same day, because the information has to go back to Washington and they were already closed there. Both couples were called up, told to sit back down, then called up for additional interviewing

They called Dennis up (I was allowed to go with him) and spent less than five minutes with the interviewer. She asked how we'd met, what type of wedding we were planning on having, and what we each did for work. Then she said those magical five words "I'm satisfied with your relationship." She sent us over to the first window to get instructions. The lady there said that the consulate will be closed tomorrow! sad.gif Normally you can pick up your visa the next day at Vancouver...we were a bit panicking then because we have plane tickets to fly back home tomorrow night! The lady told us to sit down and she would try to print the visa right then and there for us. smile.gif We sat for another hour or so and she called us up and gave us the sealed packet and returned Dennis' passport! Apparently we REALLY impressed her, since they had just told someone else it was impossible to do, but made an exception for us! smile.gif

Thank you all for the well wishes and the support through this process, it's taken SO long, but finally we'll be heading home together! We leave Canada on Friday and are going to drive back to Salt Lake. I hope everyone who is still waiting gets their good news soon!

CONGRATS Andrea!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It feels good knowing the this part of the journey is almost over. At least when we go through AOS we will be able to be with our SO's.
