United KingdomLondon Medical-Vaccinations
So my fiance had his medical exam in London today and apparently it went really well. He found the place with no problem and was in and out in less than an hour. The only painful part was the price we had to pay to get it done. :-) We had some worries about the vaccinations because not only did he not have his history with him but we had heard that even though he is coming over on the K-1 visa, they would try to make him get his vaccinations there or else they wouldn't send the results onto the embassy. (We were concerned about this since the fees are high at that place and he wanted to get them done on NHS.) Well, no problem. When they asked him for his vacination history he told them he didn't have it and that he was applying for the K-1 visa and they said "Okay, then this is going to be easy." That was it. So one thing over with. Now he has the interview on Friday and we are one step closer.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 and Baby!
Well, we received our Packet 3, got all the stuff together and in an envelope and...I went into labor! So on the day SAm was born we were able to mail out Packet 3 AND welcome our son into the world. It was a good day. :-) He weighed 6 lbs., 8 oz. and was 18 3/4" long.

So if I'm right, our next step is to schedule the medical exam, get our support person's information together, and wait for Packet 4? Pete flies back to England on April 23rd and we're hoping his interview date will be soon after so that he doesn't have to be gone for very long. Hope everynoe is doing well!

Well, we had a "touch" yesterday...I see an interview in our future. Darn it.

Never mind...I went back and looked again and when I clicked on something else it said that the card had been ordered. I was signed up for mobile alerts and email alerts and got neither...

I'm getting really nervous. No word at all since the biometrics appointment. Not even a RFE. Grrr...

We got our Biometrics letter yesterday. It was dated 4/21. Our appointment is set for May 19th but we might have to change the date because it conflicts with something else. for now, though, whoever is better at updating the list than me can add the May 19th date for Bio for us.

Oh, and this time we have to go to Cincinatti for it. We've always gone to Louisville and have never had to go to the Cincy office. Didn't even know there was one. This stinks because it's further away... :-(

I need to update the spreedsheet, but am electronically challenged.

NOA on April 8th. Check cashed the same day. No biometrics date yet...

So guys, you aren't alone. I sent my entire package off on the 27th of March and still don't have a biometrics date yet for my husband. Maybe it's just taking awhile....I hope. :-)

I've been getting some materials ready for a RFE just in case. This time around, I'm ready!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisa in hand!
Yay! Pete got his visa today via courier and will be back in the U.S. at the end of next week. He had his medical exam two days before his interview so we were suprised that he got his passport and visa back so quickly. The gods must have been smiling. Good luck to everyone else!

Starting on the K-1 process this week. That seems to be the best route. Hopefully he can be here permently by May, with a trip over in March for the birth. Thanks for everyone's help! (I have also updated my profile...)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFeel like I could cry...please help
Thanks for all of the help. Yes, it would be difficult to prove that we weren't going to get married anyway if he came over on the tourist visa-especially with me pregnant. We are looking into the fiancee visa more and more and it seems that might be our best option, with him visiting me in March when I am due. But what if he gets his interview while he is here? How much time would he have to get back to the UK for it?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFeel like I could cry...please help
This is a great site and I've been playing around reading things forever but now I have a question...I am an American and my fiancee is British. We are expecting a baby in March and want to live permanently in the USA. He's currently in the UK and we're thinking that the K-1 visa is the best way to bring him over. The problem is that it can take a long time and we want him to be here for the birth and preferably a little before and after. My question is this: if we apply now can he travel over here in and around March to be with me? I know he'll have to go back for the interview and to process the rest of the visa stuff, but is it possible for him to still come visit? an alternative for us was the illegal thing of him just coming over as a tourist and us getting married but then I was afraid when we tried to apply for the spousal visa they would deport him. I am going back to the UK in September until December and although we've only been apart for a few weeks (I had to see my US obgyn) we're both already hating that he is missing out on some of the pregnancy. There's no way I would want him to miss the birth. Anyone got any ideas?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPOE trouble on a visit? Advice needed
We didn't want to buy the roundtrip ticket back until we knew the interview date and we got a really really good deal on the one way flight over. Since we are students and money is EXTREMELY tight for us, especially with a baby on the way, it was far cheaper for us to buy the one way ticket to the U.S., and then once he was here to buy the roundtrip from the U.S. back to England when we needed it. I agree that it's a good idea to go ahead and buy the ticket as soon as possible. I will look within the next week and see if I can find a good deal for a ticket in April-May and try to get buy it before he flies out in 2 weeks so that he has a return ticket in hand before he arrives. We are trying to do everything legally. I talked to an immigration attornery and his advice was for Pete to come over on the visa waiver program and marry me once he got here but we thought that would present a whole new set of problems. This looked like the easiest route.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPOE trouble on a visit? Advice needed
Okay, so here’s the question and the advice I need. My fiancé and I have applied for the K-1 visa and he comes to visit on the 23rd. Our baby is due in March and he was planning on staying until in the U.S. until he gets his interview letter or until 90 days runs out, whichever happens first. (This should happen sometimes around the end of April for both we are hoping.) In the best case scenario, he goes back to London for his medical exam, goes to his interview, gets his visa, wraps up some things, turns around and comes back, and is only away for a few weeks at the most. The thing is, when he comes to visit in a couple of weeks he only has a one way ticket because it was cheaper for us to buy a one way ticket for him out here and then to turn around and buy him a roundtrip ticket back to the U.S. when he has to go back to London than it was for us to buy him a roundtrip ticket, change the date on the return, and then a separate one-way ticket when he had to come back. My question is, when he comes into the U.S. on the 23rd and he gets questioned at immigration what can he say so as not to get hassled too much and denied entry? He is a full-time student in the U.K., although he is working on his dissertation so he is not in classes at the moment. He also has a bank account and is signed up to work at a job agency. He has no intentions of working in the U.S. while he is here, until he comes in on the legitimate visa. I’ve had some problems with the pregnancy and he wanted to be here while I gave birth as well as the weeks preceding and following it. We’re just afraid that since he only has a one-way ticket and has applied for the visa and will be in the system already that he might get hassled at the POE. So what do you guys think? Or am I overthinking it?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWorried about denial at POE
I would be really, really surprised if he were denied entry, especially with all of those things that proves his ties. I just posted a similar post because my fiance is visiting next week. We've had a visa pending for almost two months and he is visiting without a return ticket (we're going to buy it either when we know his interview date or when airfares drop, whichever happens first), a letter from an employer, and he also lives at home. (Basically he owns a vehicle, has a job, and is a fulltime student so we're hoping that helps.) It's good to be cautious, but I wouldn't worry too much. Wehave flown back and forth several time while the visa has been pending and have never had any trouble as long as we have had the return ticket. He is also from the UK so it is a similar situation. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA 2 approved in time for Valentine's Day!
Yay! Last night I checked the website and it said we had been touched. I was so excited since we hadn't heard anything since November and when I checked my email I found that I had the approval letter as well. So now only a few more steps! We are really excited. On another note, I had posted a question earlier about whether or not my fiance would be able to come into the US on a one way ticket (and buy the other half back to England when he got his interview date) and there seemed to be some debate as to if he would get turned away at immigration. Well, he came in with no problems. They asked him why he was in the US and he said to attend the birth of his child and then they asked him when he was leaving and he answered honestly and said at some point before his 90 days were up because he didn't want to do anything to jepordize our visa process. The guy said "Okay, good luck with the birth" and sent him in. So, so far so good. :-)

Hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day!
