Australia and New ZealandFingerprints and interview in Australia

I'm in Perth, W.A but my police certificate was sent back to me within two weeks, was expecting a longer wait so it was a very nice surprise! I did that just the other month.

They received all my packet 3 docs on the 29th Aug, and I received an interview date via email today (16th Sept).. So it took them about 11 working days to get back to me.

Good luck.

Thanks for your quick response...the wait is causing me stress....especially now that my sweetie returned to Aus this weekend...so over waiting...seems never ending....

Australia and New ZealandFingerprints and interview in Australia

HI, my fiance had his fingerprints done yesterday and mailed them to Canberra...can someone who has done this recently please tell me how long to expect to wait to get them back/results/what we send in with our packet?  I see the website is 30 working days but wondered is that is really accurate.

Also, once all the documents have been sent and are ready for interview, about how long is it taking the Sydney consulate to get back to you to set up an interview?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Question. My fiancé has his medical in Sydney this Thursday. The results do not get mailed to him from what I understand. About how long does it take to get to consulate? Can he send off his packet 3 right away or will consulate notify him that they received it via email?

Anyone have info personally on how long the fingerprints take to get back? I know what the website says. Just wondering what people's personal experiences have been lately. That is in Australia.

Lets just be respectful people. We are all dealing with the unknown when it comes to the government anyway which is stessfull enough. People come here to find some comfort through this long process. Lets be a little more tolerant. No reason to get ugly with eachother. We are all in the same boat more or less or have been at one time or another.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsfingerprints and interview wait

Ok, so I need some advice.

My fiance lives in Australia.  He had his fingerprints sent away two weeks ago. He called AFP and his documents are in the system and can take 30 working days, which puts us somewhere around Oct 22 to hopefully get them back.  Then he can send off his packet 3.  But now I read that from that point it can take a month to process those papers...our deadline is Nov 29...I am getting worried we wont make it..what happens then?  Has anyone been in wait for a long time with just fingerprints and ask the consulate to give them an interview anyway and send in the prints later, or bring them at interview??  I need my blood pressured calmed..please...

We did not receive packet 3 until Aug 20

Oh and if you are going to be negative, please save it for another topic

My fiance is also in australia...Sydney is a good consulate to work with from my experience.  I would email them letting them know of your concern regarding deadline for interview.  They may take your packet 3 and once you get your medical and it is sent to Consulate then they can notify you.  We dealt with a similar experience just this past week.  We were waiting for fingerprints.  Our Deadline is Nov 29 and it looked like his prints would not be in till last week, if lucky, of Oct.  He contacted the consulate and they told him to go ahead and mail packet 3.  This was last week, Oct 9.  He mailed that day.  We ended up getting the prints this Tuesday, he contacted the consulate to let him know prints were in hand and he got his Packet 4 within 5 minutes for Oct 29.  Sydney seems very quick and efficient.  I would email them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAustralian Police Check- so frustrated!

Don't know if this helps, but my fiance is in Aus and had to deal with the Aus police fingerprinting fiasco.  Sydney did allow him to go ahead and mail packet 3 and once he got his prints he emailed them straight away and they responded and set up his appt within 5 minutes of his email.  He just brought a certified copy and the original with him.  Even tho in Sydney, we got directed to AFP and ended up doing a completely different form, but it had the name and fingerprint check so they accepted it and all is well....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAustralian Police Check- so frustrated!
Can anyone provide insight? My fiancé lives near Sydney. He got his prints done but sent them to Canberra to the afp and used a form different from website. It will still run a name check and fingerprints but its a more in depth process than what it sounds like had he sent them off to paramatta. It's a higher level of check. This shouldn't be a problem? We tried emailing the consulate but all we got was the cut and paste response.

He needs, for packet 3, his original birth certificate.  In Australia, they allow a certified copy.

So visa approved, YAY, passport in hand, YAY, finace flying over next week...WHOOT WHOOT....

But can anyone tell me if, anything, needs to be kept from all the documents we have put together for this K1?  I have a copy and so does he, but is it needed that he has his whole file when entering POE?  Or at any time during the AOS process?  Trying to eliminate the need for such a heavy carry on for flight back.....

I have been a member less than a year...and I guess I am shocked as to the amount of empathy this site and comments often lead to.  This process is so overwhelming.  so she made a mistake, or misunderstood, the decision is unfortunate, especially waiting and doing all the paper work.  This process is hard enough, hard to be apart from the one you love, so why beat a person when they are down?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp? A bit confused

Yep, it's the discretion of the border agent whether he wants to admit your fiance into the US. Typically they want to see that you're spending more time outside of the US than inside of the US. The fact that he was just here and stayed the full 6 months and is returning again so soon might raise an eyebrow...

thank you for your response....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp? A bit confused
Hi, I am new to this forum. I met a wonderful man who happens to live in Australia. I live in Usa. We met on line and met in person June of 2012. He came on a visa waiver for 2 weeks. At that time I did not introduce him to my kids as I wanted to be sure about our relationship. He then came back on a travel visa this past September (2012) and stayed the full 6 months. We wanted to see if we were really compatible and how things worked with my children. He did not work while he was here and left without a problem.

Here is where I am confused after reading several various sites. He wants, we want, him to come back this May (2012) for my daughters graduation. He would only be in USA this visit for maybe a month/3 weeks. Then I plan to return to Australia with him and stay for almost a month. He would then like to come back to USA in June with me and stay for about 4 months. Is there a reason that this would be a problem, denied entry? He is not currently working, but his parents own a company which, if needed he could work. He is now living with his parents, as he sold most of his belongings in order to make an easier relocation to USA in the future. Obviously we would do nothing to jeopardize him being deported or K! visa process. He has strong family ties to Australia, as well other assets that tie him to his country.

Also we are in the process of applying for K1 visa..paperwork to be completed this week and mailed. Can he visit while this is being done? Will it cause problems or holds on the K1 if he does visit?

Any help would be appreciated...and I also know that it is up to the Boarder Patrol officer at airport to decide if he can enter or not...just seeking some reassurance from other people in similar situation...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGeneral K1 Guides and Info
2. Send all originals of the documentary proof that you submitted for the I-129F to your fiance(e) for their interview at the embassy.

Can someone whose done this for part 2 of the process explain this to me? I'm not even close to it yet but like to be prepared. I had letters that I copied for first packet, does this mean in this packet they have to be the original letters, show tickets etc? A lot of proof I sent initially were receipts for hotels and airline tickets printed from Internet, which is like a copy to begin with...they are not expecting my original birth certificate are they? Thanks for the feedback

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresYes, you can visit!

It is possible but will depend on the officers at POE and your fiance's ties to Australia. What were his stays prior to the 6 months?

:time: It helps when answering questions - for instance, when did you get your NOA1?

We just mailed the packet march 22. So we have a ways. Our first meet face to face was June 18 2012. He stayed 2 weeks. Thank you for your response!

Thoughts please since I see this discussion. I know it's up to port whether my fiancé gets thru. He was here for 6 months left march 16, right before his visa expired. K1 filed and he wants to return for my daughters graduation in may and plans to stay till June when we both fly back to his country. He then wants to fly back with me to spend the rest of summer as I am on vacation as I am a teacher. I would stay there in Australia but I would miss my kids too much. Thoughts???? Is it possible??? He has ties to Australia that can be proved and bank funds.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe RFE Master List
As for photos when we took pictures we weren't really thinking about k1 stuff. Only one is time stamped on front. I wrote for the rest the info on the back. We have pictures of Las Vegas together which match the hotel receipt. We include various hotel receipts even when I picked him up and returned him to the airport. We have a print out of his flight itinerary from both visits as well as lease and that he was added to my bank account. Is this sufficient?
