A friend can be be joint sponsor....if you have a friend who live in the US and a US citizen or Green card holder and willing to help you he/she can be a joint sponsor.

You must have income of $ 19387 per year for the family of two for the purpose of I-864. You can use your assets or savings and can include assets and savings of principal immigrant to make the difference in your income. You may need a co- sponsor but for purpose of this form co-sponsor has to be a relative who has the same principal address as the sponsor and is related to the sponsor as a spouse,adult child,parents or siblings. May be you like to Waite till Jan 2014 get a job which pays more then 20K a year and then send I-864.

well this is really disapointed , an a co-sponsor should be a friend?

If you are permanent resident regardless where you reside you must file us tax return unless you are not required by law ie very low income etc.

You must declare all the income earn in or out of us. I don't think you can send I-864 electronically. Please provide more information? What did you between 2011 and Nov 2012?

i migrate to US in jan 2011 then back to pakistan on march 2011 after getting green card, i was full time student in university in pakistain till nov 2012, i also visited us in feb 2012 and got my reentry permit till feb 2014.

in nov 2012 i graduate from university of engineering

in 6 nov 2012 i got a job as engineer in pakistan with pay of ($190/month) uptill now i.e (oct 2013)

i plan to go back to state on jan 2014. In the mean while i apply for my spouse, the visa got approved now they demand i864, now i got confuse how to hill it out? ? ? ? ?

Hi everyone i need urgent help regarding affidavit of support

NVC asked me to fill the affidavit of support, but right now my situation is little more complex thats why i am confused,

I got my green card on 2011 then i back to my country and got the reentry permit till march 2014.

Right now i am doing a job in pakistan from nov 2012, but before that i was full time student in the university.

My questions are:-

1. Do i have to mention my income which i earn in pakistan (it is almost $3500/yr)

2. How to send this i864 through electronic processing?

Had our interview on march 24th 2014 and it was a breeze. Im the petitioner and they let me inside, as a matter of fact they ask me like 5 question and ask my wife only one question. They ask my wife do i shave LOL. But for our experience i see alot of blue slips and only several people pass. They are tougher since the visa scandals in vietnam, but since i petitioner for my wife and 3 years old daughter 3 years ago makes it easier i guess and good luck with your interview. I think is better if you can accompany your husbamd to the interview

Interview done, request for evidence?

i had an interview on december 17, 2013 after the interview i ask the office is everything ok? he said yes from what i see everything is good but i still need to go over your files. it was a large stack of paper that i saw in his hands. in 2007 i had an arrest for possesions of heroine so i had to wait 5 years to get my citizenship. in march 15, 2012 when i came back to the state at port of entry i was held in immigration for 3 months from vistiting my wife and child that lived in vietnam. in june 2012 i was released from immigration jail the judge granted me from REMOVAL. So my question is why do they still need an RFE (regquest for evidence)? i sent everything in and even hired an immigration lawywer. what do they need? do they need me to get a drug test or something to make sure i quit everything? i smoke weed hopefully dont dont require drug test.

Ok couple of questions-

you filed paperwork in Jan 2011 (which gave you an earlier priority date) and then you had a baby in Aug 2011 --- were you expecting the baby to be on the earlier paperwork?

You had to file additional paperwork for the baby after she was born right?? That would mean the childs paperwork is going to be dated later. She would have a later priority date. Because its Nov 8 2011, it seems they received your completed application Nov 8.

Theyre not going to back date the child to Jan because the mother was submitted in Jan.

You have 2 different visas for 2 different people. One has an earlier priority date then the other because they were filed at different times. One can technically leave before the other. The first one can wait for the second one. But they will not bump up the second one to leave earlier with the first one, even if she is a cute little baby.

so yeah, youre going to have to wait until both their dates are current. (I dont know what the current dates or how long of a wait it will be- sorry)

damn forreal? i was expecting for both of them to leave at the same time on the earlier priority date which i filed back in january 2011. my lawyer say 5 months til they get here after i pay for the visas so i do not know. oh and i also paid for the AOS invoice too

ok my wife and i got married in vietnam october 27, 2010. i filed for paper work in january 2011, which is my priority date. we had a baby in august 15, 2011. i was recently ask to pay for their visa about a month ago which i did paid already. now my i got an i-797 notice of action from CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER and the priority date is now november 8, 2011 for my daughter #######?
now my question is...does that mean i have to wait another year til my wife and daughter come here? im a permanent resident sponsoring under F2A category. please help me thank you

Got an Email From NVC Help Please

i got an email from NVC saying this:

Dear Sir or Madam:

The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing
of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner
and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment
until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of
the interview. Additional documentation requirements if applicable can be referenced at

It has been almost 2 months since i received that email and i was wondering does that mean the case is complete and how long should my wife expect an interview?

My priority date was January 2011 and im F2A. Please help you guys and thank you!

Yes you can go to the interview. It is better if you can go with her. There is a chance you will be asked questions as well. My wife and I had our interview last week and they asked me questions too. wow nice review trinh thanks! all of our original documents were sent to NVC and i tihnk NVC forward it to HCM consulate but they told us to bring all orignal documents so im a little worry. and my dumb lawyer made me sign an expired i-864 affadavit of support so now we have to redo that form again and to bring it with us to the interview.

Wife had an interview on march 24 with our daughter derivative with mom and got a blue slip stating "please come back to the consulate when your daughter's IR2 case is ready to be interview."Originally it was f2a and i filed 2 seperate petition. Had my citizenship about 2 months ago and didnt contact NVC since my wife case was already in vietnam for interview, so i sent an email with my naturalize certificate and request an expedite for my little daughter case and was approved. I also request the consulate to give my daughter case for an early interview and also got approved. Now my daughter got an interview on april 29 super excited!!! Now my question is do they still need my daughter to pay for visa fee and aos fee since i already paid with her mom when it was f2a? And also do they require her to do the DS260 again??? Please help im nervous. Im in vietnam rigjt now and had to delay my flight back to the state and waiting on my daughter interview.

ok guys i got it situated, i went to the consulate today and it seem my daughter case is still at nvc, nvc didnt know i had citizenship last month so they think my baby derivatives with her mom when i file f2a category thats why they didnt send her case with her mom back . US consulate told me to call nvc and send my daughter case to Ho Chi Minh for my daughter interview hopefully it wont take long and im leaving back to the state on april 16.......guess im going home alone.

When you file for F2A - your spouse and children can be included on one I-130 - but it has to be seperate once you upgrade it to IR-1/2. They each need to have their own petition with two seperate IV and other fees paid at NVC ...They cease to have the derivative benefits..!!

well i did file 2 seperate petition while i had greencard, both visa and aos fees paid and both did ds230 , i still have reciept

they only interview me (the sponsor and my wife). yes i believe my lawyer did a petition for my daughter when she was born and i saw she have her own case number, but as their priority date was near i think my wife and daughter case were one.
