I also read a lot. My favorites are fantasy novels (something similar to Lord of the Rings). My current favorite is The Wheel of Time by former Robert Jordan. This series has been running since 1989. But he died before releasing the 12th and final chapter. I guess I will never know the end of the story unless his family gives the green light on the final manuscript.

PEACE...............

I just finished reading the The Southern Vampire Mysteries series (well, what's been released so far), and now I'm rereading it... as I tend to do my first run through a novel/series too quickly for my tastes. For my long-anticipated bus trip down to Florida (in two days, wow!) I'm giving audio books a first try. I don't know how much I'm going to like it... as I'm quite used to being able to reread and skip ahead and everything else at my own leisure, but I guess we shall see.

My tastes are everywhere, though I tend to stick to a certain genre for awhile, then jump elsewhere. My favourite purchasing method is hitting the bargain bin at Chapters, though, and picking up something of interest. Some of my favourite authors have been found that way (or I manage to come across hard covers for real cheap, so bonus).

Haven't watched a lot of movies, but I have been into a major reading kick for the past couple of months. I've been sinking into a series a week.

Will catch up on my movie watching come next week, when the two of us can run along to Blockbuster together (so much more fun than using headsets and MSN).

Non-visa news, somewhat... I got approved for my AmEx today! kicking.gif

Now I can get rid of my concern about entering the US without any credit rating behind me.

Heh, I think him and I are still at the bickering point as to what our wedding itself will entail...

But I don't think we'll be doing much in the way of a honeymoon. He's already extended his vacation time by two weeks this year to accommodate visits, and it'll be another week at least if I get my interview date before the end of the year... so we'll likely be laying low. Maybe head to one of the Disney parks for the day that weekend or something, but nothing fancy.

Can it break for me too?

We can't do AoS lawyer thinks there is too much of a chance of being called out for visa fraud.

So we are appealing through the courts about our case and hopefully that means we might actually see a NOA1 or NOA2 in the next few months.... *sigh*

My heart breaks everytime I see you post, and I read the timeline in your signature for the hundredth time.

I just can't comprehend why some cases take five months at longest, while others - without reason - are held by for far longer than this silly process is supposed to take, by their account.

smile.gif *hugs*

Im ok with it for the most part, there are days when I'm just crushed over seeing people who are approved in like a month, but normally i get over it. The harder part of it is friends and family who ask you what is happening and having to explain the whole situation over again for the 100th time.

Then there are things like, we were looking for a house but have to put that on hold, i was going to start getting organized to get back into working (I'm a teacher so i have to do a heap of things for my license over here) but I can't do that either. Just frustrating more then anything, if we knew why it was taking so long i might be ok with it.... well i probably wouldn't lol.

Thank you for your kind words though, hopefully there will be some good news in this thread soon, though perhaps we should liven it up before then....

Yes, the inability to properly plan things even within an assumed timeline is hard enough... but when it's months and months past... can't even imagine.

I'm hoping against hope that I don't face problems with where I work, because I gave them an estimate, and will be training someone long before I leave. They won't be able to afford keeping my until the end of the year with another staff member too... and finding another job in the Windsor area is altogether impossible. Trying hard not to fret... happy thoughts, etc.

I'd happily give up a month of my wait to have a NOA2 tossed your way.

...

On that note, we do need to liven the thread a wee bit. Suggestions anyone? Heh.

Indeed....being so far of your loved one takes a big toll in your soul. Every single day I think of how me and my angel's life would be. It fills me with much needed illusion but also makes me a bit sad. Yesterday was my birthday and she did all she could to make this distance non-existent for one day at least. I really appreciate from the bottom of my heart all the little messages and calls she did yesterday. I will never forget that.

I just hope that the waiting will end for us April filers. hehe.... I just can't wait to be with her.

PEACE..............

Well, happy birthday from your fellow filers.

And I do agree, the illusion keeps me moving each day... and yet it also increases the longing for all of this to finally end. And we're only a couple of months in (as far as filing, at least). My heart breaks reading threads like the ones for those December filers who haven't received their NOA2 yet.

good morning to all of our fellow Aprilites... I 1st want to say that I am probably the worlds worst lurker... but hey there is a lot of good info on this site to be read.. but I have noticed that WE April filers are about the quietest month of the bunch... But It looks like our NOA2 time is closing in on us... There has been a run on mid February NOA2s in the last week.. Does that mean we are like 45 days out?... I hope so for all of us..

Me and Dane are going to be together for a week starting next sunday... its been almost 4 months since we have seen each other.. I am so excited..

We plan to spend a lot of time going over all of the things that she will be expected to do once the case reaches the Embassy... I wish that we had the luxury of being together when she is going thru all of that... but with work and responsibilites and limited vacation time...well you know...

this LDR stuff is tough... the waiting... the being apart.. ughhhhh!!!! oh yeah and having to fight off the urge to HATE the USCIS!.. I know it is just a bunch of workin stiffs just tryin to make ends meet..just like the rest of us.. but D%#N IT! THEY are the ones that hold every one of our lives in their hands.. TOO MUCH POWER in one place... oh sorry...just a little ranting there..

Anyway, come on April bro's and sis's lets get this thread up to speed...

D&D

Heh, have you seen the April CSC thread? Those folks are a wildly more talkative bunch it seems.

Yes, all the long distance is just about killing me. Thankfully, I've only got a week and a half to wait before another two-week visit. But it's just so hard, because we'd be much better off financially if we could just get this moving already... I do hope our NOA2 is around the corner. VJ's timeline is saying something about the end of August... I so hope that's at least close to the mark.

Thank you for the kind words.

Since I am currently here in the USA we are considering the getting married and doing AoS Route now. Part of me feels like its going to be rough because they will think we planned it (which we havent) but part of me thinks it has to be better then the game we are currently playing. We contacted an immigration lawyer that Chris went to Collage with yesterday who is currently looking into if it is legal for us (he seemed to think that it was our best option) and hopes to have all the info back to us tomorrow.

Will keep you all posted, stay strong all smile.gif

Heck, if it'd been that long for us... I can't imagine what we'd be considering...

I guess the only concern I'd have for you is that, since you've been going about the K1 route (second time around), they might assume that you know the ins and outs and would know better than to jump like that? I don't know... Like I said, can't even imagine what I'd be considering at this point in your position.

Well on the positive we are now 2 months into our refiling and still dont have a NoA1.... I would be less concerned about the situation if USCIS knew where our file went. But this does not seem to be the case.

Oh well what to do what to do.

I have to say, the strength you two have to get through the stupidity that is clearly stacking against you is overwhelming. I find it unbelievable that it seems like no one is accountable for the problems you're facing in this process, and my heart goes out to you... It truly isn't right.

Hijacked on a side note, and I apologize.. Just had to send out my thoughts to you. smile.gif

Received my Greyhound tickets in the mail today, which means it's closer to visit time once again.

Of course, a touch of some sort would've been a nice way to turn around a pitiful Friday, but this certainly helps too...

A touch? What's that? USCIS at work? Oh, hell, impossible...

At least you're guaranteed to get some touches when you get down to FL ;-)

Haha, what does it say when I can honestly admit that I couldn't choose which I would prefer at this point? (Kidding, mostly...)

But yes, believe me, the ever constant "30 days left...20 days left...19 days left...18 days left..." makes the monotony of timelines so much brighter.

At the very least, VJ is claiming September 1st right now for us. How interesting. I'll be sad when that changes (in a week, haha).

Let's hope it changes in the right direction ;-)
Besides, that's just an estimate...
Have fun in FL, I am flying to Poland tomorrow (and hope to get some touches).

Good luck on all accounts! I hope you have a good time.

Yeah, right... I am going to do so in 12 days - flying 15 hours one way, just to spend 8 days together.

I have inner ear problems, so flying makes me incredibly ill for several days (which I learned the last time I went down), so I'm looking forward to a 30 hour, one way, bus ride down to Florida. >.<

Oh, sorry... riding a bus from ONT to FL really sucks, I imagine.

Well, I can't imagine it'll be the most pleasant of things... but far more than being out of commission for three days. Honestly, I've never felt that sick in my life.

But the price is about the same, and I can at least get a very nice view (though it was incredible to be in the air and look down below) of the States as we pass through 'em.

I'm finding that little EAC number to be both a blessing and a curse, as I'm sure you'd all agree...

I hate checking the website and finding that it hasn't been touched for a month. But on the other hand, if I wasn't able to check it, I'd be going out of my skull.

Hi Sam and Ben,

Has immigration given you any trouble when you tried to enter the US to visit while the K1 was in process? I was wondering if it would suffice to just have the itinerary showing the return date and or an employment letter. I'm a little worried because we've planned a trip to Oregon before sending off the K1 application. Is it safe to say that we are vacationing there for 5 days? Thanks for your help!

Tina

My only visit to date was just previous to us having filed the K1, though I went over with a plethora of paperwork just in case they didn't like hearing that my boyfriend resided in the States. At the end of June when I attempt my next visit (first during the process), I'm simply going to take an updated package of information across with me, including our a copy of our NOA1 to show we're doing things legally and have no intention of jumping ahead of ourselves.

That package, for me, was a list on contact information for him/his family where I was staying, a letter from my employer regarding his awareness to my trip and when I'd be returning, my work schedule for when I return, a bank statement, flight itinerary and bus itinerary (I use a shuttle service to cross the border, as it was cheaper for me to fly within the States instead of into the States.

WAY more information than required, especially before the process, I'm sure. But I hate surprises, and figure I can always plan for the worst.

Really, I can't see there being any issues when I do cross in June, as so many people have successfully crossed during the process (we'd all go crazy if we couldn't).

Yep. Guess we'll have to see when it comes to NOA2... whether we have the heads' up via the website or not. We had to wait until we had the NOA1 in hand to even check the website, so the "Last Updated" isn't a huge help, heh...

Well....it sucks but it could be worse. I was reading about some people who were on the East coast....apparently there is only 3 Dr's in Canada. Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. I couldn't imagine having to make such a long trek twice or the stress of trying to do them both at the same time. I'm enough of a basket case.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion Regarding "Original" Evidence...
QUOTE (luckytxn @ Jan 23 2009, 12:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It was pretty much answered. The download from the website is the originals. The only hard copies you should have are the boarding passes and receipts that you both accumilate. That is all I sent them. If you are wanting something that is not a download then you can call and ask the companies to send you something but it will be pretty much as any download. The process just wants to see proof that you have met for one and also that you have an ongoing relationship. The embassies know that most things are done online and that downloads are going to happen.

I seem to have and most here have gotten their visas by doing exactly what you are worrying about. This is the digital and internet age. Of course some things will need to be certified copies and I am sure you will know what to do to get those. (Like Birth certificates)

Well the few companies I know of that will provide me with hard copies via mail for a charge I will likely contact anyhow, just to be safe.

I'd like to hope that most of the consulates are aware of how things are done nowadays, especially considering that most of us met our significant others on-line, but I'd hate to be refused for something as silly as lacking a proper original.

However, I also see that you were just recently approved for the Visa, and I do appreciate your insight.

We're looking into all of the procedures and necessary paperwork that goes with filing for the K1 Visa at the moment, and one question we both came up to was this:

With all of his credit card statements, cell phone bills, plane tickets, etc being paperless (on-line and able to be printed at any time, multiple copies, etc), how does this coincide with having to bring original evidence to the interview? Technically, any copy we include into our initial packet will be just as original as anything we print out and bring to the interview.

Is this considered acceptable? So many things nowadays are done solely on-line, so how is all of the dealt with when it comes to the consulate?

And yes, silly me, I might be focusing on minute details, but after so, so much reading over the past month, I've noticed that the quicker timelines were those without any RFEs to speak of, and understandably so. I'm just trying to make sure he and I are as prepared as possible.

Also, I have to say how incredibly thankful I am that this place exists. I can't imagine all of those who went through this process without the aid/sympathy/support of everyone else on this website. Thank you so much to everyone who helps out, and I hope that I can do the same once my experience with all of this has expanded a little.

i can only share you what i did with our petition.

ALL evidences i attached were photocopies. The originals i sent to my bf in the US in case there is a RFE.

WE have been approved last Jan 9, 2009. Now im asking my bf to sent back all the originals that are with him for my interview in Manila soon.

*Phone bills, credit card bills- i sent a photocopy... to make it look neat i pasted it first on a bond paper and photocopied it. Phocopy i attached in the K1 petition, the original i sent to the bf in the US.

*Plane tickets and boarding pass ... same as above

*chats - just print some. not important with the K1 petition.

Maybe I'm not explaining properly... I apologize if that's the case.

I'm not concerned about the copies of evidence we'll need to send in with the intial packet, it's what they consider to be "original" evidence that I'm worried about.

My boyfriend, the USC, has all of his major credit cards bills and statements, as well as cell phone bills and the like received paperlessly. He receives no hard copy in the mail. The great majority of mine is done through mail, so bringing the originals of my own statements to my interview won't be an issue, but I'm worried about including a great deal of evidence from him because we won't be able to produce any original copies that haven't simply been printed from the companies website, which would be no different than the copies that were sent in for the I-129F.

The same is said about all of our plane tickets and boarding passes. Our copies and so-called originals are all printed in the same way, so there is no actual difference between a copy that is sent in for our package and the original that I bring with me to the interview. Is that considered acceptable "original" evidence for me to bring to my interview, or because the copy and original will be, essentially, the exact same copy, will they refuse that as acceptable proof?

Again, I'm sorry to those that answered, I guess I just didn't explain myself properly. I'm now just worried about this because it seems like almost everything that we'd be sending in as evidence won't have a "true" original to back it up come interview time.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConfused :(
QUOTE (Jenn and Matt @ May 18 2009, 02:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We are living in Tennessee ATM. The new laws for border travel I need to have a valid passport being Canadian, to travel between the United States and Canada. ATM I do not have this. Come June 1st, I will need to. And Alberta to Tennessee is quite the long haul.

I am wondering if there is a way I can prolong my stay, to stay in the USA while this process is being dealt with. I am working on applying for my passport while I am here in the USA as well. I was reading that if I am staying in USA longer than 29 days, there is a file I need to fill out to have extended stay. Have to find more information on this.

Or do I need to leave the country after we are married for the process to work, and just come for visits? I want to stay and live with my wife to be if at all possible.

I was reading the Guide for the CR-1 plan. It said she need's to make 125% of poverty line. As circumstances sit, she has not worked in the last little while and that will not apply. Will this cause problems? It says you can have a co-sponsor, Has anyone gone through this? Is it a big hassle for that 3rd person?

It say's as well a passport is required for the interview process. Like I said I do not have one, and she as well does not have one right now. Will both of us HAVE to get one by the time we have our interview?

Thank you in advance.

Whatever route you proceed with, you will have to look into having a co-sponsor if you cannot meet the 125% mark. That isn't limited to the CR-1, unfortunately, but I haven't heard of too many issues. Just ensure that whoever you use is able to meet that number when taking into consideration all of their dependents (yourself + any children, etc that fall into that category).

Far as the passport, that's where your visa will eventually be stamped, for entry into the US on that ever-awaited POE date. And for us (K1 route), we used his passport in the I-129F form that we mailed to USCIS, simply because we didn't think his short-form birth certificate would suffice, and didn't want to go through the hassle of getting another to replace. It was simply more convenient for us, and made it easier to jump over the border when coming up here (Ontario) to visit.

I understand your paranoia...you have been reading VJ.

Like others have said, just mention it at the interview, remember that the person interviewing you is an actual human being and i'm sure they will understand that someone made a little date error on their paperwork.

Haha, yes, a human... with my key into their country... >.<

Alright, then I guess I'll attempt to stop freaking out and will just wait it out. They won't know until it after I receive Packet 4, when I mail in the DS-230 (with the CORRECT dates), so if there's an issue, I'm sure they'll mention it then.

Thank you to everyone who replied. And yes, VJ doesn't necessarily help the paranoia... but it sure it nice to have others to turn to for help. This place is an absolute Godsend.

i was off my one year. had 01/07/07 instead of 01/07/08. I didnt get any RFE from USCIS but im hoping it wont be an issue at the embassy

And are you the beneficiary or petitioner?

I'm not expecting an RFE for it (because really, can't see how they'd know the difference until I send in the rest of the paperwork asking the same questions), but unless I decide to continue using that incorrect number, I know they'll notice it... it's just whether or not they want to cause a stink about it, heh.
