US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK-1 Visa Interview in Manila
Daryll and Janine,
It was so nice to read this topic. I am in the same situation as you. We've known each other only 6 months (almost 7), she is from the Philippines and I've only visited once. I was a little worried about those issues, but now seeing you get approved makes me feel better about it. I filed on May 21st and probably looking at sometime in October for NOA2. Do you mind telling me how the interview was? What questions did they ask?

Thanks!!

PhilippinesTrip to Manila
Yes, I plan on taking the G-325A and the Letter of Intent for her to sign. And we already talked about getting the passport size pics done while I am there. I'm saving all of the boarding passes, ticket receipts and hotel bills and pictures. I've been reading this forum for over 4 months now, and I have seen a lot of good advice, especially on the RFE forum. Thanks for your reply!

You don't need a visa. Just have a return ticket. Make sure you read the K-1 visa forum. When I visited my gf for the first time this past January, I took some paper work with me such as the G-325 for her to fill out and sign. And we took passport size pictures. Save all your boarding passes, ticket receipts, hotel bills and take pictures of both of you etc, etc.

I'll be going to Manila on April 26 until May 16 to meet my gf for the first time. I'm staying less than 21 days, so I won't need a visa right? Also, how will i prove this when I arrive at Manila airport? Can I just show my itinerary or will I already have a return ticket? Thanks!

PhilippinesJob in Philippines

Are you able to help her out with a little money? Could that, so to speak, get her mother off her back till you guys get
closer? Maybe save her from having to sign a contract working for someone. I know that is a totally personal decision, but
maybe it's an option.

Itried that, but her parents want her to have work experience for at least a year in the Philippines.

PhilippinesJob in Philippines
Our NOA1 date is 5/24/12 and my timeline says, "your I129f may be adjudicated between November 12, 2012 and November 17, 2012", assuming no RFE. Unfortunately, her mother told her she needs to get a job and she tells me that every job is a contract for at least a year in the Philippines. And if you break that contract, you can be in some big trouble and possibly jail time. My questions are, is this true? And if so, if I get the NOA2 around November/December, will we be able to stretch everything out until August 2013?

I think I read that you can interview up to 90 days after NOA2 you can travel to USA within 6 months of approval. That would take it to about August if what i read is true. Please help thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow do people do this??
I finally met May in the Philippines on April 28, 2012 and stayed there until May 16, 2012. I proposed to her on her birthday while I was there (May 6) and sent the paperwork on May 21st. Now the long wait begins and back to Skype. I've been reading these forums for months now and received a lot of helpful advice. My problem is, it hasn't even been a week since I filed and I'm missing her already. I don't know how people can stand waiting the 5, 6 or more months for their loved one. It's killing me already! I just want to be with her.

Please someone send me some encouragement.. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 2012 Filers
Hello fellow May filers!! I sent mine out on May 21st and the wait for the NOA1 is killing me.. LOL. I can't imagine waiting the 5-6 months for the NOA2 or the dreaded RFE :(. I check this site EVERYDAY! Timelines, Igors list, what days filings are being processed, etc, etc. I just need to stay off of here for a few months because it seems like i'm watching paint dry, hahaha. Anyway, good luck everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate
I just noticed that the I-129F form does not ask for fiancee parents information. Only on the G-325A form. And she receieved a passport using her birth certificate. So I don't see it being a problem by listing her real parents on the G-325A. Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate
I'm new to visajourney.com and found some very useful information here. I'm ready to start filing for a K1. But I have a few concerns first....

My fiance is from the Philippines. She was raised by her grandparents, therefore, her grandparents names are listed on her birth certificate. They have passed away years ago. She never knew her real father, and she now lives with mother and step-father. She is 22 years old. My questions are...

What names do I list as her parents on the I129F?
Are the names on her birth certificate going to be a problem at her interview if they are difference then her BC?

Any other problems I should be worried about with this issue?

thanks everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDivorce decree or certificate?
Do I need to send in a divorce DECREE with my I-129F or a divorce CERTIFICATE? I only have the decree which is a few pages and states the terms and conditions of the divorce. It also has a seal and signed by the judge on the last page. If I need a certificate, I need to go to records and get that. Maybe I should send both? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, on Part C about military service, I put "Not in Military Service". Should I change this to N/A? Thanks again!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMoney Remittances
Are money remittances a good idea to take to the interview? I send her a certain amount every month for cell phone bill, etc.. or would it raise a red flag?

Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I be worried??
I know its way to early for me to be worried in this long process, but I sent out our I-129F on May 21st and still have not received an email/txt notification about an NOA1. The package was confirmed received at the Dallas Lockbox on May 23rd via USPS. I've noticed others who sent our I-129F on May 23rd and have already received an email and/or txt.

I created an account on the USCIS website, but its asking for a receipt number, which obviously I don't yet have.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1
I received the text and email today regarding my NOA1. The email says it was received May 24, 2012. My question is, what is my NOA1 date? May 24, May 30? or should I wait and see what the NOA1 hardcopy says? Thanks in advance!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCancel K1 Petition?
Send it to dallas address?

So sorry things didn't work for you and your fiance. As a petitioner send a letter to USCIS to formally withdraw your K1 application. State your reason and make it notarized. I doubt if it will be a problem to your future application. GOD bless!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCancel K1 Petition?
How would I cancel a K1 petition? Its still in initial review at VSC. Also, how soon can I apply again?

My and my fiance decided to stop the process for personal reasons. I've already found someone else, but we are just in the beginning stages of a relationship, so it will probably be a while before I file again if it works out. Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWithdrawl
I filed my I-129F with a NOA1 date of May 24, 2012. On August 17 I sent a letter to withdraw the petition (I know, sad right?) and received a letter in the mail confirming the withdraw on October 1. The petition was still at Vermont, waiting for NOA2. My question is, Do i need to wait a specific amount of time before filing for another Beneficiary? I'm not even close to filing again yet, I'm just curious. Also, will there be any problems or questions with the new petition, even if the withdraw was voluntary? Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Proof of Ongoing Relationship
I'm sending in proof of having met in the last 2 years (dated pictures, boarding passes, luggage tags, passport stamps, etc) with my I-129F. Do I really need to send in proof of ongoing relationship also? That is a lot of paperwork to add. I thought these items could be presented at the interview instead. Thanks in advance.
