US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa Interview Lima, Peru
Dress warm, it's pretty cold outside right now. We had ours exactly 1 week ago and it went very smooth. Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS230 part 1 AGAIN!!
I just received in the mail another DS 230 part 1. I just filled out DS 230 part 2 and sent it in the mail. I sent the part 1 in to the NVC and they sent the part 2 right after that. I know I didn't screw up the part 1, they didn't send me a checklist with it. Whats the deal? Anybody else have this happen to them? I would ask the NVC myself but they wont answer calls anymore. I've been trying to call them for the past week and their phone system puts me on hold for 20 minutes then goes back to the main menu.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 Interview June 14th Peru
I've just got word from my mom in the states that my wife's CR-1 interview will be on 6/14/07!!! I'm in Lima right now so I'm still waiting for my packet to come to me. I told them to send it to both addresses (peru and usa) so hopefully they will do as I asked. Sorry for not posting my timeline but I joined this forum late in the process and I don't have all the exact dates with me. All in all the whole process took us a little over 13 months with a few RFE's. So for all the CR-1 Peruvians out there, it could take 10-11 months if you don't mess up.

I agree with jediknight, you got married in january and you didn't even send the 130 until march. Your case will be done very soon. Your husband will be in the states in a few months. Be patient. Most Cr1/Ir1 cases take a year or more, it looks like yours will take only 5 months. Good luck and I'm not trying to sound like an a$$hole. I hope your momentum keeps up.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI864 needed at interview?

Hi. My wife is scheduled for interview in a week...in HCM CITY VIETNAM...Every documents is finished..but is the I864 needed to be shown? Am confused because I send to the NVC already and was approved! I send her another set(not copies, but the same filled out). And all my tax forms. My Income shown is only 8000 this year ( i have a business) but my co-sponsor is 20.000. I that enough? The person who helps prepare the papers over there wants me to have at least 18.000. He said its gonna be a problem. What I don't understand is that if my amount is insufficient, why would the NVC approved? And why is the I864 reviewed at the interview? Am worried sick because I don't understand whats going on.

What do you mean "The person who helps prepare the papers over there"? Are you talking about a lawyer in Vietnam? If so I don't think he's aware you have a co-sponsor. I don't see why you would need an extra 18k on top of 20k from your co-sponsor. The poverty guidelines for 2 are $17,112.50 so maybe thats where he got the 18k from.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 Affidavit of Support Form

No. However, you should have made a complete copy of the entire package before you mailed it out to the NVC. That should be sent to your husband to take to the interview at the Consulate.
Best of luck.

oops I didn t know about this

I called the embassy before the interview to make sure they had all my papers. It was next to impossible for me to get a copy of my i864 because I was already in peru. I asked if I needed a copy and they said no. Then I asked to make sure they have my i864, she said she had it and I definitely would not need to bring a copy. We went to the interview and we were fine without any copies.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhich is approved quicker: I-130 alone, or I-130/I-129F together?
I filed both the i129f and the i130 and I only got a NOA1 for the i129. I never heard a word after that about the i129 but the i130 went through smoothly and now my wife has her CR-1 as of june 14th. What a waste of money for me.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJ1 visa - A number?
My wife had a J1 and I never could figure out if she had an A number. I left it blank. It wasn't an issue though, she got her visa.
