Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFee waiver for I-751: might it affect my status?
Hi,

I am a permanent resident and I need to apply for removal of condition (form I-751). I would like to apply to waive the fee (my income is certainly low enough), but I am worried that this might negatively impact my status either now or in the future (like if I want to apply for citizenship). If there is a risk that this might happen I can bite the bullet and pay up just to be safe.

The answer to the question "will requesting a fee waiver affect my current immigration status?" in the instructions for form I-912 is vague and I would like to know if anyone has had issues as a consequence of applying for a fee waiver.

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhich embassy will process my visa?
Hi all, this is my first post on VJ!

I have a simple question: how do I know which embassy/consulate will process my visa and carry out my interview? I'm asking because I'm living in Vancouver, BC (Canada), but my case number starts with MTL, which makes me think my visa application is going through Montreal. But I'd rather not have to travel all the way to Montreal (almost 5000 Km!) for a 20 minute interview! Does the case number necessarily indicate that my application is being processed in Montreal and the interview will happen there?

Besides, by reading other posts it seems that Vancouver is much faster at processing than Montreal... So how come they're putting me through Montreal, rather than Vancouver (where I live!)? Do I have any voice in the choice of the consulate that will process the application/carry out the interview?

I'll probably find out in a few weeks since I'm waiting on NVC to accept and forward my application to the appropriate consulate, but I'd like to know sooner so I can make a better guess at how long the process will take and whether I'll have to take the money + time to go to Montreal.

Thanks for reading.
