K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWill they Email?
Hey guys, I am sure its on here somewhere already but if I read one more thing on K1 Visas I think my head is going to explode! crying.gif

We just filed our initial paperwork, no cheque cashed yet or anything, was received by them on Monday past. We did provide an email address on the form, my question is will they email NOA notifications before they mail them out, or will they come by mail first? We set up an email address so that we could both check, but I don't want to drive myself crazy in the waiting game. wacko.gif Thanks for all your help!

I am going to see my sweetie in November. I am preparing some documents to show my ties to Canada, mortgage, car payments, property deeds, job-letter from employer stating expected return date. I would try and get some proof to show them that he doesn't plan on staying with you. Quitting the job isn't a good start I wouldn't think. They say to drive if you can that way if you get turned away at least your not out the cost of the plane ticket. Good luck!

well the job was temporary and only going to last another couple weeks after anyhow. :\
he is coming by bus, but should he bring all the paperwork i've prepared, and a copy of the noa1? if he has a return ticket would that help as well?

I have a friend that crossed over from Ontario and they are on the NOA2 actually for a weekend visit, they just asked why she was going, she answered visiting friends and then told her to have a nice day. Good luck!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes it matter which state your going too?
Hi everyone, I've been thinking and wondering this for sometime. unsure.gif Is there a place on this website or any other that lists the number of visa's issued in a given year to each state, and the timeline processed. I know the country that you are coming from, and the processing center handling it makes a difference so I would be looking at Canada. I followed a few on here and it makes no sense to me how two apps, going to the same visa center, same arrival date, and end up being months apart by the time they are processed. I know if there are problems with the application it will slow it down, and the consulate handling the interview would change the timeline some. I've seen them on her processed in less then 100 days, and some taking upwards of 350 and even more days. So it got me thinking, does the state your going to make a difference in how fast it's processed? Anyone have any thoughts? innocent.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestion regarding pictures.
We printed the pictures at home on regular size photo paper and wrote on the back with pencil, date, locations and everyone in the pictures and if it was an "occasion". I like the posting that said they printed them on paper and wrote beside the details. That would be clean and neat and make it simple to go through the file. Anything to make processing your app. easier. Nice idea! jest.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat means "touched"
I can't quite understand your timeline, you have that your NOA1 was received September 28, its only the 18th now. Did you just put the wrong date in there? Once you do have your NOA1 go onto the USCIS website and register. It will ask for your receipt number and then you can follow along to see when they worked on your file - hence -"touched" GOOD LUCK!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDESPERATE..
Hello there, I am awaiting my NOA2 as well. People could probably help you a little more if you fill in your timeline on your folio. I spend hours n this website, I noticed for Canada anyways, people seem to be closer to the 6 months before the NOA2 sometimes longer. I have come across as four months on occasion. Don't panic yet. If you fill in your timeline it will give you an estimate of when you MIGHT receive your NOA2, but that's not the law just an estimate based on people filling in their timelines on here. Correct me if I am wrong everyone? We just figured we wouldn't be seeing ours till February. At least if it comes earlier it will just be a bonus! Take care, and good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGetting Ready for NOA2 to arrive!
We are a long way off unsure.gif but wanted to start getting some paperwork gathered up, birh certificate etc. My honey is gathering what he needs to send, on the income portion, he makes well above the limit, however he won't have paystubs during the time which we figure we would need to send this in. Hours are low in November and December, and he's layed off for January-March and starts again in April. He makes the majority of his income between April and November. Do you think with the letter from his employer starting yearly income, copies of his tax returns, that we will be able to submit paystubs from September-October without problems even though they won't be recent? Anyone have any experience with this? innocent.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting and I-129F
I asked the same thing as I want to go see my honey in November. I was told to just have lots of evidence that I have ties to Canada that I would not abandon at this point. Letter from employer stating on authorized leave and expected date of return, a return ticket, copies of my property deeds to show I would not leave that. But in the end its still the agent you get at customs that decide whether you get in or not. GOOD LUCK!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat should I do? Philippine fiance Visa
Its a long process. I meet my sweetie after I started divorce proceedings, which took a long time to wrap up. There really wasn't anything we could do till that was finalized. It says right on the K-1 forms if that's the route you are going, that Visa will not be granted if you are married to someone else. Its a waiting game. We decided you educate ourselves through reading government websites, and this site in particular. I know a few people that didn't seem to fair any better with hiring an attorney. Just money spent to get results they could have got themselves. But that's a decision you will have to make. You could start tracking your relationship, phone bills, pictures etc keeping track of the dates, times and places. We both went ahead and got birth certificates etc. The medical portion I do believe they want closer to your interview date, someone else may correct me on that point possibly. Its just a long process, but you'll find communicating with people going through the same thing helpful. Take care and good luck.

I think, and this is just a personal opinion, but if they still have a few left they don't put the processing date ahead till they get that month cleared. So they are working on ones that are a month or two ahead. Like I said, its just a personal opinion. Someone else may have a better answer for you. Estadia, I do feel for your situation but my fiance and I have already decided we won't wait the same amount of time you have. If there's no decision, then I'm finding a way to relocate and make a living.

If they told you that your security might clear next year then I'd be really worried. What possible background check would take longer than 1 year? Are they on foot in the investigation? That doesn't make much sense.

I admire your will to see this through but I'll tell you, we don't want to spend our lives talking on the phone and emailing.

Yes its mind boggling why it would take over a year! They talk about the amount of illegal immigrants in the country and here on this site alone are thousands probably that are trying to do it the "legal" way and they make us wait, and wait. wacko.gif My honey and I really haven't been waiting long.....it makes me sad to read some of the peoples stories of how long they have been waiting. Between the money it costs when all is said and done, and the amount of time away from our loved ones its amazing there isn't more illlegals! Best of luck to all!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiling for k1 but just lost my job
If it were me, I would wait till I was back on my feet with a job. Its hard enough to support yourself let alone be responsible for someone else. And that someone else would be unemployed when they arrived as well. So if you think you can be back on your feet and employed by the time you need to fill in your aff. of support then file. As you can see from peoples timelines on here, it certainly doesn't happen over night. We all know how you feel about not wanting to be away from your loved one but starting out financially unstable, in my opinion, isn't a great starting point for your new life together in the US. Again, just my opinion. Good luck to you in whatever your decision is.

I wouldn't say the MOLD reason is lame. Mold in a home can cause major illness, and even death. Definately not healthy for a pregnancy!. There was a 3 year old in Nova Scotia that dies a few years back that went into respritory failure, a few weeks later after the autopsy came out they ruled that the mold in the house was the cause. I don't agree that is a lame reason.

I agree with you though, if he can afford it himself, send money to her to find a safer place to live.

I am using a lawyer to proceed with the K1 visa. He is based in Bangkok where my Fiance lives. No need to debate the pros and cons of that here, I just wanted this to be clear.

My lawyer sent our I29F packet a little over a month ago to the VSC. We have not received any NOA1 from the VSC, he claims they are delayed in processing that it may take another month to get the NOA1 and there is no need for concern. He has stated that they have a big backlog mailing out the NOA1's but that doesn't mean my case isn't being processed and I should already have my place in the queue. He is the one sent the check so I can't review if it has been cashed or not nor look for a case number on the back. He is a very well known lawyer in Thailand and I do not have any reason to believe something is fishy but nevertheless I am stressed and just want to know our case is moving along. After reading through the threads here I can't find anyone else who is facing this kind of lag. Can I somehow contact the VSC myself just to get assurance they have received my packet and things are moving along?

What I would do if I was you is to contact your lawyer and ask him for the number from the back of the cashed cheque, you are paying him for his services so he is there to help. Your case number will be on the back of the cashed cheque, also ask if he has tracked the package and for the date it arrived at VSC.

We got our NOA1 in a few days from VSC, sending it over a month ago and waiting another month seems way to long, and I dont know how he would know if there is a backlog at VSC

Good luck

I agree, your paying for his services, he should give you the number off the back of the cheque. Ours went to California and took about a week. Good luck!

Hello,
I'm from Canada, and my sweetie is from Wisconsin. We applied for our K-1 Visa first part of September, we our hoping that by the end of May that I will be moving if all goes well. We've both been going back and forth visiting but usually only a couple weeks at a time. I haven't had any problems getting through, I just say "visiting" when asked purpose of visit. I do bring proof of employment, mortgage documents etc just in case but have never had to use them. Your right, she can come stay with you for quite a while just using her passport. I know on one of the forms they did ask if the benficiary was in the US at the time of the application...I don't know if by ticking the yes if it would send up any flags for them. I plan on going back down in January for a couple months and don't anticipate any problems. I just know that if we get our NOA2 while I am there I will just have to get my butt home to wait for the packets to arrive. Its not fun being separated but I am on this website everyday and it helps to talk to people who are going through the same thing. I have a friend going through the K-1 Visa as well and she's been down with her honey in Nevada for almost 6 months, she's coming home just before Christmas as they received their NOA2 last week. GOOD LUCK!!

When you said there is a question " if your beneficiary is in the country at the time of the application? ", were you in the country at the time when your fiance sent the application in? I'm not sure how I should answer that cause I don't want to raise any flags that will slow us down sad.gif I plan on getting this sent in before she comes down in March, but I just want to be sure if its wise to say " no "

No, I came back to Canada when we were getting the forms together. We wanted to be putting "NO" in the question on the I-129F form that asks if your fiance was currently in the US. Not sure why we thought it would be better, just a personal choice I guess. You apply for your I-129F then once that's approved you get your packets and go for your interview, this is where you are actually applying for your visa. Which is what Pshbrk was referring to. But I know most people consider the whole process just "applying for a K1 Visa". When people ask me what's going on with my moving with Peter its a hell of a lot easier to say we are awaiting the fiance visa, then to explain the whole process.

I haven't had any problems getting into the country, but its entirely up to the officer at the POE. So where in Canada is your honey from?
