CaribbeanDominicans in Southern California

I did find some products in Mexican food stores. I had heard about Presidente beer not tasting the same here, now I now why. Thanks.

If you can find the Grande 22 oz bottles of Presidente (Not jumbos), they come from the DR. Your welcome, good luck to you both!

CaribbeanDominicans in Southern California

Hi, does anybody know where I can buy Dominican products, like food, drinks... etc in Southern California? I live in Orange County. My wife keeps asking me if there is a store where she can buy things like Induveca salami or presidente beer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Good afternoon. I doubt that you will have any luck finding a Dominican food store or restaurant in Orange County, but I believe that you should be able to find small Latin (Mexican) food stores where you can buy Plantains, Yucca, possibly Batata, Queso por frito, Pan de agua, and the odd meats that dominican's eat such as salt fish, rabo, beef feet, ect. It's been a long time for me, but I use to buy food from a small mexican food store in Hawiian Gardens, and I'll tell you that it is a dangerous town to be in (gangs) so only go in the mornings if you choose to. My suggestion is to look for other small mom & pop type mexican food stores close to you. With refrence to Presidente beer, you won't find REAL presidente as it is bottled for the US by miller brewing co with the permission of Presidente.. Both are Pilsner beers, but it's NOT Presidente.. Hope this helps, and good luck to you both!

CaribbeanQuestion about the I-864 form

I believe that child support is paid to the spouse, not the child.

indeed, but it is paid to the spouse for the children.

CaribbeanQuestion about the I-864 form

Hello all! my wife is getting ready to file her i864, she wants to include the child support she receives for her 2 children as her income, we cant find specific directions on doing this, can anyone help us? not as her income but with her income. Thanks for you responses.

She would name her Chidren on line 24B and the income for each child in the appropriate line to the right. If this income is not on her Tax forms, I'm not sure I would list it. Especially if she already meets the guidelines and is above the poverty level. Hope this helps.

CaribbeanSubmittal of Cuban Issued Marriage Certificate (CR1)

Hi everyone. Just wondering if anyone here translated their own marriage certificate (Cuban Issued) or have used a professional translator in order to submit the required English version. I'm finalizing my I-130 package and translated it myself. I have the language I used but I would like to compare it to others VJrs on this forum. let me know and i can post. it would make me a bit more confident to receive feedback. the last thing I want is slow down our process by getting that portion rejected. :)

Actually, all you need is to have the translated copy notarized as "Correct Translation". You do NOT need some high priced translator to do this. I used a professional secretary who was a notary. I did the translation using google translate with her in her office. Fixed the words that were not translated correctly (WITH THE NOTARY PRESANT). After we were done, she notarized it, and I sent it in. It was fine. I don't suggest doing it yourself, but NO WAY would I pay some high priced professional translator for this. You don't need to.

Good luck to you..

CaribbeanAny Dominican Republic cases recently approved for NOA2 on here?

Hello....I filed my I 130 January 22, 2013 and received NOA2 approval and I am now waiting for to show up at the NVC...STILL!   Just thought I'd start a thread of some others with spouses/fiances from the DR going through the K1 or CR1 process that would like to share stories.  goofy.gif

Good Idea for a thread. My wife is from Puerto Plata. I met her on the island of Providenciales, Turks & Caicos.

CaribbeanAny Dominican Republic cases recently approved for NOA2 on here?

Hey guys, the key word here is patience.. But here is a timeline for you to review.

Ok this is an APPROXIMATE timeline of what happens after the NOA2

Clearly states ALL the steps

Please review and then research and/or ask questions

AGAIN this is APPROXIMATE .. and yes timeframes DO VARY and yes things may happen sooner or later than indicated

AOS = Affidavit Of Support

Note: If you have both a CR1 and K3 approved you can complete your CR1 and switch the appointment to CR1 once your case is COMPLETE at NVC and as long as the Consulate has approximately 4 weeks to make this switch

For CR1

Day 1 I-130 Approved NOA2 mailed
Day 2 Receive Email from USCIS I-130 Approved
Day 3-5 Received NOA2 case forwarded to NVC
Day 5-7 SDO# Assigned call NVC @ 603-334-0700
Day 7-10 AOS Fee and DS3032 Generated (Make sure you verify with NVC AVS and REP)
Day 10-14 Pay AOS Fee Online and Email DS3032 from SO email (make sure your SO email is not a hotmail account use gmail or yahoo)
Day 15-19 AOS Fee Processed ? Cover Page Printed ? Mail AOS
Day 19-24 AOS Documents Processed
Day 19-24 DS-3032 Accepted by NVC
Day 24-28 IV Fee Bill Generated (Make sure you verify with NVC AVS and REP) DO NOT JUST PAY BECAUSE IT IS AVAILABLE TO DO SO ONLINE
Day 28- 30 IV Fee Bill Paid Online
Day 31-34 IV Fee Bill Processed- Cover Page Printed ? Send Docs
Day 35-37 DS-230 & Documents Received by NVC
Day 38-40 AVS States Documents Received
Day 40-50 Case Complete smiley.gif

NOW WAIT 3-4 MONTHS for INTERVIEW TO BE SCHEDULED OR IF YOU HAVE A K3 CALL NVC and CALL VISA SPECIALIST to SWITCH CASES

IN MOST cases an interview is scheduled approximately 4 months after completion with exception of those with K3

WARNING DOING THINGS PRIOR TO THEM BEING GENERATED BY THE NVC (NOT ONLINE) WILL CAUSE DELAYS

For K3 (this timeline also applies to K1)

Day 1 I-129F Approved NOA2
Day 2 Received Email on NOA2
Day 3-5 Received NOA2 case forwarded to NVC
Day 5-7 SDO # assigned call NVC @ 603-334-0700
Day 7-21 Processed and sent to SDO
Day 21-28 Call Visa Specialist to ensure receipt @ 202-663-1541
Day 28-45 Call Visa Specialist to see if interview is assigned

WAIT FOR CITA PACKAGE .. if not received call Mexico Line to request a duplicate for Beneficiary to pick up 14 business days BEFORE the interview

Please be aware that the MEDICAL exam must be done at least 6 BUSINESS prior to the interview as it needs to be picked up the day before the interview .. if you don't then it will not be available for your interview

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Which document versions? Spanish or English

I don't know where you got a Spanish version of the DS-230 (BELIEVE me I looked for it), but I sent in the English version and I would recommend that you send in the English version. I was told that there was no Spanish version. I am a CR-1, so I don't know too much about the K-1. For us, we had to submit the DS-230 at the NVC stage before the interview. They are suppose to be Bi-lingual at the Embassy. Since you have all ready filled out both, there is no harm in bringing both with you and just ask them which one they prefer.

I would agree that you should use the english version. The Spanish versions are new, and I'm pretty confident in saying that there is a GOOD possibility that it could slow down your case because it is new. Also this sequestering thing can not be good for anything new in Govt. right now. Good luck with your K1.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 November 2012 filers

We sent her documents in via USPS express mail with certified reciept requested. I wanted as much documentation that the documents had been sent as I could get. Also, living in the VI, you have to use priority or express service because it is the only way to insure that you mail arrives or gets to you. Otherwise, it seems to always get lost in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

Did she have the green sheet with her when she paid Domex?? If they had you pay Domex, then I would think that you were approved. I would call Domex in Santo Domingo and see if your visa is ready. Heres the number. Tel.: (809) 616-6633.

Good Luck!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMaiden vs. Married name: Which will be on Green Card?
If you're already waiting for her 2 year green card, I wouldn't rock the boat and posibly cause yourselves more issues. My wifes 2 year GC is in her maiden name, and we have just filed to lift conditions. She updated her passport before we filed so that her married name will now be on both. Good Luck!!
