IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp! Co-sponsor or Joint sponsor?

Hi everyone!

I would like some suggestions if I will have my mom a co-sponsor or joint sponsor.

I am a USC petitioning for my wife on a CR1. We will be filling I-864. I do not have a whole year of employment last year so my tax transcripts won't be good enough and my mom wants to help. I currently live with her and I'm pretty sure she meets the poverty guidelines. Will she be my co-sponsor or she can just be a joint sponsor since I will be moving out once my wife arrives?

Thank you so much in advance!

hi Im CR1 applicant too, if u already submitted the original NBI clearance, or any original documents , u should only bring the photocopies so after the interview they will give back the original documents .

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 Manila US Embassy NBI/Police clearance queries

Hi!

  1. One (1) is enough of each civil doc, however, if you want your original documents back, you have to have photocopies with you. I normally have 3 original copies and 5 photocopies with me (just obsessive is all! LOL but not really needed) There is a chance though that Original documents you submitted to NVC, may not be returned back to you. It depends on the adjudicator or the consul studying your case if he/she deems it necessary to keep the originals. The same is true with secondary evidences of a bonafide relationship (These include photos, money transfer receipts, phone and email logs, etc). You can always try to ask  back your originals, kindly, during the interview, but be sure you have extra copies with you, you never know. So what I am doing now? Photos, etc I do not have extra copies of, I am scanning now--for back-up.
  2. Original documents submitted to NVC are normally NOT SENT back to the beneficiary/petitioner/agent, but they are forwarded to the local US Consulate for their reference. Once you get your Interview Letter, there will be a summary of documents you have yet to submit and documents that you have already submitted and are forwarded to the local embassy, etc. By then, you will know what to do.
  3. If you have been communicating with NVC through email, they will send every communication, packet,  through email--much faster than the usual snail mail--Original docs--straight to the embassy.

NOTE: Although instructions on our Interview Letter will telI you that NBI clearance is vaid for one year, I have a few friends who has been required to submit a fresh new NBI and police clearance and other civil documents that have an expiration date. Good thing they were ready! Really depends on the consul who is interviewing you.

Let me paste here a part of my P4 (Interview Letter) for you:

You must bring the following items to the visa interview:
?? Any original documents the NVC requested that you did not submit (refer to the document list below)
?? If the physician gives you your medical exam results, bring them to your interview in the envelope sealed
by the medical office.
?? Two passport photographs measuring 2 inches by 2 inches (5 cm by 5 cm) with a white background
?? A valid unexpired passport
?? Photocopies of all civil documents
?? A new police certificate from your current country of residence, if you obtained the police certificate
more than one year ago.
?? Any additional documents listed in the U.S. Embassy or Consulate specific interview guidelines

***and then below this list, NVC gave me a checklist of documents they have received from me, with various document status codes so I know what I need to do:

Document Status Code Definitions:
A Obtain this document and present it at your interview
C You must bring this entire interview letter to your interview
D The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate
F The NVC did not request this form or document
G You withdrew your I-601A, Application for Provisional Unlawful Presence Waiver, with USCIS
H You must obtain two passport photographs of yourself and present them at your interview
I This form is incomplete. You must present a completed form at your interview.
O The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate
P You must request this police certificate from the issuing authority. After you submit your
request, the issuing authority will send the certificate directly to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate
for your interview.
R You submitted the Immigrant Visa Application online
S The NVC only received a scanned document. You must present the original document at the time
of your interview.
T You must present an English translation of this document at the time of your interview
U You indicated this document was unavailable. The consular officer will decide whether to waive
the requirement for this document at your interview.
X This document is unobtainable
Y The NVC sent this form or document to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate
$ Payment received

Thank you so much for the info.! :)

Hi everyone! I would like to ask some help with my confusions..

I am the beneficiary of the CR-1 to be interviewed in Manila (waiting for our case to be completed). I just want to ask,

1. How many NBI and police clearance do I need to secure?

2. I already sent the original copies to NVC, do I need to get extra original copies for my interview? Or Photocopies will do?

3. Will NVC send the packet back to me with my docs and the appointment letter?

Thank you in advance guys!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 Address on forms is different from where we intend to live.. will it be a cause for denial??

No, it is not going to be an issue during the interview... I am sure you will have to stay with them (his mom) for a while until everything is settled like getting your own place, your own stuff, etc.... Good Luck to your interview!

Thank you so much for the info!! That makes me feel better! :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 Address on forms is different from where we intend to live.. will it be a cause for denial??

Hi Fellow VJers!

So here's our situation. I am worried about my upcoming interview (no date yet). My husband's permanent address (mom in-laws address - joint sponsor) is what we wrote on all the forms and the address we intend to live. But my husband lives in a different state (an hour and half drive) where he works. We plan to get our own place close to where he works once I got the visa approved. Will that address thingy be a ground for denial at the Manila US Embassy?

Anyone who had the same situation?? What is the best thing to do? :(

Thanks in advance!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 denied due to stupid USCIS office mistake

POA,
Did you end up having to file the I-130 again ?

Yes we resubmitted a 2nd i-130 and was received on July 1st but our first case that was denied was approved on July 8th, they re-opened it at no charge, so we withdrawn the 2nd case and withdrawal was finalized on Nov 1st. We sent pictures of all the mails we received from USCIS and provided details of the calls to USCIS. We didn't have the agent ID of the reps that we talked to but we provided the numbers we used and around what time and date did we make the call. They record all calls. Check my signature. It's all there :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 denied due to stupid USCIS office mistake

We received a denial notice Feb 8, 2014 stating that we abandoned the petition since we did not submit a document they asked for Dec 10, 2013. Now let me explain, on Dec 10th, I get a letter asking for a divorce decree/death certificate to proof that I am not married to an imaginary person. The had my previous married name (first marriage-ended back in 2007) noted to be married to a man that was made from the first and middle name of my current husband (beneficiary) and the last name of my ex husband. I called them the moment I opened the letter and reported the insane error. The say they noted it and I will get a letter in about a week notifying me that they had been made aware of the error. A month passed and I got nothing. I called in and asked again and was told that  a typo was noted, but that it had gone on to adjucation already. Then about a month later,  we get the letter from the local field office and I'm optimistic until I'm hit with the worst. They say that they have denied us because we abandoned the petition by not submitting the document...I was livid...and that is putting it lightly. I am scheduling to meet with an immigration attorney asap. I am baffled as to how they can choose to ignore the multiple corrections and just push it through anyhow. We started this Dec 2012...I really, really do not want to start over because of their error.  Anyone had this happen before or anything similar?

I had a similar situation where they made a mistake and denied us due to abandonment. We emailed the ombudsman and after a little over a month USCIS approved our petition. Ombudsman coordinated with them and USCIS corrected their mistake. Submit a report here. This is what we did. https://www.dhs.gov/...case-assistance

Even we are not under expedite process? And what do you think are the criteria to be granted for an earliest date of interview? Thank you so much!

Hey! I am not on expedite process. Here's what I did.

1. Checked with NVC when they sent my package.
2. Once the DHL tracking said it was received, call the Manila USEM and asked if they already have the "physical" file. DHL shows my package was received on Feb 11, 2014, then called Feb 12 and was told that the file was not yet physically at the USEM because it has to pass by security thing and might take weeks but they will try to get it that week.
My original p4 interview date was March 13, 2014 but we kept on rescheduling it. I resched it on Feb 19 but it says on the cgifederal.secure.force.com that you should cancel your appointment within 24 hours to avoid delay. I cancelled my Feb 19 appointment on Feb 17th and resched it again for Feb 20, because I was not able to call them on Feb 17 due to the US holiday to confirm that the file was physically received. Then called them again on Feb 18th to check if they have the physical file and was it already received and was told i should have been ready for interview on Feb 19th.

Hi poa!

Did the embassy askd for a police clearance? What about if your just here in the philippines and never work outside the country...? Is the police clearance needed? Or NBI only?

Girl, on the P4 that I received they did not request for the nbi and said that it was already forwarded to the USEM. During my interview the american console did not ask for anything even chat logs or pics. He just asked me how we met and if I will be staying with his mom. No documents was asked. My friend was asked for cenomar even he is already married by the Filipino console and he was asked for some pics and birth certificate of their kids.

GUYS!!!!

I'm on the way home now. Here's what happened...

1. Came at the embassy around 4:50am (my sched is 6:30AM). There were already too many ppl there. Different lines for IV, Non-immigrant and other kinds of visa. Different lines for sched time too. The 6:15AM ppl came in first.
2. Inside the embassy.. I wasn't called for biometrics until around 10AM while friend who waa scheduled at 6:15AM got done and approved at 9:30AM.

3. Filipino console... She was nice. Asked...
For my passport.. If I traveled outside the country and stayed there for more than a year.
How did i meet my husband and what year was that? Who does he live with? If we have prior marriage or have kids. Ahe asked if I have pics and chat logs and i was about to gice it to her but she said to just show it with the american console. When was his visits and for how many visits before we got married and if visited again after that.

4. American console... Asked me...

So, you met your husband from work? I said yes and he said "Tell me more about it! so i told him our story. He was joking about the account I waa hanslung when I met my husband and told me to frame it hehe. Then he asked if i will be living with his mom. I said, that's the plan until we find our own place. Then he asked if my husband told me about WI.I told yes its cold and the cheese state. Then he said he could relate bc he is from MN. Then he gave me a leaflet about my rights as an immigrant if i will be a victim of domestic violence. Then i asked while giggling and excited "Does this mean I'm approved? He said No! That does not mean your approved but this stamp(he stamped on my case file) means your approved! Then I said thank you! my husband will be very happy!

.. He didn't look at anything i brought even documents. It's like i just showed there to talk.lol

5. Last step.... 2go info. i was just told by the guy that everything is ok and expect for my visa packet in 5-7 working daya. hehe...

Hi, were you able to reschedule your appointment online? I think that's fine. Good luck on your interview and pls let us know how it goes. smile.png

Yes I was able to resched it online but resched it on Feb 19th lol. I am worried that i would have to cancel that if the case will not be "physically" at the embassy. When was your case delivered as per DHL? Ours was just delivered today. hehe

Here is the email IVMNLAppointments@state.gov , subject line is your Name (Last name, First name, middle name) , MNL case number. Body of the letter will be the reason why you need an earlier interview. I asked my husband to send the email to make sure it is Americanized lol. Include your contact number too. Your welcome!

Hi, you need to confirm first with usem because a week after my case left nvc, i called and asked if i can already have my interview scheduled since it's been 4 days that may case is ready as per ceac. However the lady said i cant schedule yet because they still havent received the "physical" file from nvc. The number to call is (632)301-2000

Ps. I still went ahead and scheduled my interview for the 25th, i think thats enough time for them to receive the physical file. Hehe smile.png good luck on your interview!

Hi there! Just got the ceac status to "Ready" and called the number you gave me. Was told the same thing. What is just confusing is she said that we can only email them to request for an earlier date but there is one person here in VJ that got her mom resched online. :(

Hi ema and Jin!

I read your previous post and i pasted it below,

Posted 04 February 2014 - 04:36 AM
To the OP: my case was expedited from NVC as well. I paid all the AOS/IV fees online and my wife also completed the DS-260 online. NVC received my Affidavit of Support documents and my wife's documents last Friday. How long does it typically take them to ship the case to the Embassy?

Thanks and keep us updated about your medical exam!

Justin

With this regards, i know that you are waiting for your file to be transfered to USEM right? Same with mine guys, my papers was not transfered to USEM when NVC recvd all they need from us and what i did i called them feb 3 and told them that my file is under expeditious process and it should be tansfered to USEM as soon possible. And the operator was not aware and what she she did she put me on hold and then she get back to me ans told me that her supervisor will review the file and request for it to be sent to USEM. And i told the lady that they should forward it to manila now coz the consule or embassy is waiting for it. And she said her supervisor will take care of it since she have no right to rush it. Then i asked her that your supervisor will forward it to USEM as soon as possible right for expeditious process? And she said YES! Then the following day feb 4 i rcvd an e-mail that our file will be forwarded to USEM that day and further questions should be directed to USEM..

Guys you should call them now before you wait for long. Remember your case status is under expeditious processing. Remind them guys... Just wanna help you guys.. Good luck to all of us! God bless...

Hey! Saw that your case has been received by the USEM today. Did you try to call them if you can get your interview this week?

I tried to track your file from nvc to usem and maybe this will help you. There was a package thats left NVC building last feb. 7 - try to log here dhl.com and use "waybill #" as your tracking number and track that package. Maybe thats yours going to usem.

Check this out:

When is your original interview date from the p4? Mine is March 13th. Maybe we could see each other there lol.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR 1 interview at Manila US Embassy

Hi! Case is not yet in manila but hopefully nxt week it'll arrive and i havent call the us embasy in manila yet. But we will call them nxt week... Do i need to call them frst before attempting to set the interview online? Again thank for the useful info.. God bless!

Actually we have the same question. lol! Our case left on feb 7 and hopefully it will be at the USEM Manila early this week. Your case will come before ours. As per kryspekreme our docs should be "physically" received by the USEM. So I guess you need to call them first to make sure that you can have your interview on the date you will resched it. Tho I have mine resched on Feb 19. The last time I resched, Feb 12 and 13 are available and Feb 18 and 19 same with Feb 25 and 26 if I am not mistaken. Other option is get it resched and call the USEM and ask if you can go through the interview on the day you resched it. That is what we will do. Call the USEM next week once we get our case ready to ask if we can go through the interview on the 19th. ",) keep us updated :)
