K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA question about IMBRA
I dicussed this in great length with the lawyer I used, and this is the information that he gave me. When they talk about a marriage broker they are referring to those companies that a person would pay for a bride. He also stated that a dating site that was specific for one race, would also fall under this law, such as Asian Singles, or Russian Singles. Meaning that you are in search for a specific race. Sites like yahoo personals, or any other dating site are not race specific, and would not fall under this law.

I am not sure how accurate this information is, but it made sense to me. I would assume that well over 50% met online.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAttorney or Website Help - What do you suggest?

I recently spoke to a man who married a woman from Vietnam. He said that after a few frusterating months of trying to figure everything out themselves, they went to an attorney to help. He recommended it. Now I'm wondering what is best - to find an attorney, or use a site like ezvisa.com. And if I want some outside help, how do I know who is the best option? I live in Phoenix, Arizona and am hoping to get married spring of next year - that gives me almost a year to do this... any suggestions?

Thanks a million!
-Marie

Marie, you have a lot of time to get prepared, so I would suggest to do it yourself, unless your case is very complicated. I actually used EZVisa, and I am not very happy with the results. Many of the questions I asked them, did not return the correct answers. They have a 100% guarantee of approval. Well, be careful, because the approval they are talking about is not the final approval at the interview. It is the approval at the USCIS stage. This site is very resourceful and everyone here is full of information to help you. If you have questions when filling out papers or putting your package together, just ask and you will get several replies.

Good Luck!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespacket 3 checklist (London/UK)
; it's a checklist you have to gather for the interview.

On the bottom you have to date and sign that you have read, understand the checklist and bring all documents to your interview :innocent:
Channah&AaronFemaleNetherlands2011-06-13 10:10:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat does petitioner need to send for packet 3?
; you have to send her a complete I-129f package (the one you sent when you first filed),
and also

* all original documents (hotel receipts, tickets+stamps and other additional documents you can use as proof) in the time between NOA1 & NOA2 (pictures, phone/chat logs)
* I-134
* Letter from Employer
* 3 to 6 recent pay stubs
* Tax returns/ W2's from the past 3 years
* other banking information (savings, assets)
* Letter from you why you desire your fiancee. Looks like letter of intent, and it also needs to be dated/signed.

And then you are good to go... I am in the same fase as you are :)

Anywhoooo, good luck and enjoy the rest of your journey!!

; btw, in the Netherlands (AMS) I only have to send in forms: DS-156k, DS-156 (2x), DS-230 part 1.

The affidit of support form (I-134) I have to bring it with me to the interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC
; My NOA2 + NVC + Packet 3 sent= ALL IN TWO WEEKS!!

NVC Received my petition 6 days after NOA2, and sent out to Amsterdam the next day..

My tip: don't wait two weeks, call 1 week after receiving NOA2!!!

When you call (1: English, 2: Spanish, and then "5" to speak to an operator), you need to tell your and your fiance(e) date of birth and name and your receipt number of your NOA1.

Ask if they have received your petition, if so, what is your new case number and ask if they have it sent out yet, if not, ask when they might send it out :whistle:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo words of approval or denial from the Consul
; They did ask for your passport and they kept it right?

It's just an other initial deeper background check to see if ALL the documents are present. It can take a little while since others before you have to wait as well.

I hope you will hear something soon, and receive your VISA as well.

Good luck, and things will just be fine :star:

My packet 3 also included DS-230, part 1 dated and signed. They requested it, so OFCOURSE, I sent it to the Consulate... :whistle:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresnot going straight to fiance after POE

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDenied Entry
; I was denied entry too (May 2010) and was afraid that this might effect our K1. (I'm still traumatised LOL)

But people told me that I shouldn't worry about it, as long if you don't have a 3/10/life time ban on your plate.

The reason they didn't let me in, was because they thought I wanted to stay here- as I couldn't prove strong ties to my home country. And I had some paint samples in my suit case because Aaron was about to move and I'd like to do home decorating as I was convinced I'm going to live with him after all this immigration.

However, the Officer told me that I should go back home and apply for B2 Visa. And after 2 months I had my interview and passed!! THANK GOD!!

I flew back 3 times after in the same year, with no problems. Although you ALWAYS go to secondary inspection as B2 has been given because of specific reasons. They ask me some questions every time I go to the US (I am in the US now for 4 months :blush: ) and never ever had a problem of entering the US with my B2 Visa.

It won't effect your Visa if you don't have a ban above your head. I have my NOA2 and my interview comes up very soon. They might ask me and you some questions, but they won't deny you because of that.

Good luck & don't worry!! :thumbs:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGetting married now - still use K-1?

I think this is rude. If you don't want to read it don't read it. Our site is designed for people to ask questions. If you don't like questions you can remove yourself from the website you can stop reading threads. This site is educational and is designed for friendly interactions.

I'm not trying to be rude... If you have questions after filed for K1/I-129f, that I understand. But my point is, before you file, you need to know what this Visa actually means.

Anyways, I am not going further into this. I won't remove myself from the website, duh, I gave my opinion, and if you don't like it, don't read it nor reply to it.

To the OP: Good luck for the rest of the journey!!

; Me and my fiance are planning the same thing, and I think I would just answer with "as soon as my visa is granted and I'm in the US".

Court wedding will be as soon as I got in the US, so I am not going to lie. If the CO asks me more questions (about if my family will fly over), THEN I will provide her more information about our Official wedding in 2012 :blush:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPOE JFK
Hi everyone!!

My interview is August 2nd and my POE will be at JFK on August 12th. 10 days after my interview.

However, even though I am soooooooooo excited that I see some light at the end of the tunnel, POE makes me soooo nervous.

I'll explain why.. My entry got denied in Philladelphia, May 2010 because of the fact I couldn't show them strong ties to my home country. I flew to US before that day, and never had problems, until then.

They were screaming at me, and for some reason (in panic) I told them that Aaron and I are just friends instead of dating. Well, they surched thru my stuff and found out a card I wrote to him telling that I can't wait to spend the summer with him and that I love him. :whistle:

I don't know a lot about that day anymore (it was like I wasn't there). They escorted me in the airplane and told me I have to apply for B2 Visa. I passed the interview and flew to the US a couple times after without having any problems.

Point is, normally I fly thru Pittsburgh. The Officers know me there and always make jokes with me "are you here again?", "there you are again, I know you from last time" and we all just talk.. (very small airport).

NOW, I am going to have my POE in JFK, New York. A huge airport and I just feel like I'm going to be harrassed because of the fact my entry got denied once in 2010.

But on the other hand, I passed my B2 interview, hopefully my K1 and I flew couple of times after my B2 interview. In fact, I just arrived in Holland after spending 4 months (waiting for NOA2, etc).

Are there any other peeps who got denied and made it thru their POE after a succesful K1 interview?? I'm nervous and I don't know what to expect.... :help:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed URGENT help, freaking out! Interview in Rio!
; You don't have to wear like this kind of a business look.

Wear what ever you think it's comfortable, as long as you don't show too much skin.

You can wear Jeans if you want to, and have a nice T-shirt or jacket above your jeans.

And if you want, you can even wear flip flops to your interview. They are behind a counter and the LAST THING they can see or are interested about is what kind of shoes you are wearing.

For everyone's information: YOU CAN WEAR MAKE UP. Your lawyer told you not to?! :whistle:

You have been misinformed big time. Well, you are not the type of a make-up girl, then don't wear make up.

GOOD LUCK AND DO NOT STRESS OUT :thumbs:

Call them every single day, if not 10x a day to find out what is going on... Sending them an E-mail isn't that effective as calling them.

Maybe you can also call your Embassy/Consulate and ask if they received anything from NVC.
