Edit : Found the original poster over at this post on the Skype forum and the posters name is Jas000 - That's for your call history,

DniandShaun - The fiancé has just pointed out I may have sent you in the wrong direction, you wanted chat history... if you go to the top of your chat window, you should be able to select all
Posted Image

and then (it might be different on windows) you can click View Chat History which will give you a full HTML formatted page
Posted Image

She's also said there's a setting in there to set the skype history forever -
Click Skype - Preferences - Chats - and change the dropdown for 'keep skype history forever'

If you've reinstalled your computer, the file that has this is lost, same for call history, it'll go back to when you reinstalled Skype (I found out because the lady didn't reinstall her computer, and I did)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSending Evidence

There is no reason to send all those pages. Just choose a select few conversations that covers the time frame of your relationship.

The most important evidence for the I-129F petition is proof of meeting in person within the last 2 years, and chat logs do not prove this. Most important is passport stamps and boarding passes showing your travels to visit each other.

Fantastic, We should have no problem doing that

Include a few that span the course of your relationship. Send some pictures of you both that also span the whole relationship and perhaps some with some family in them. (we also wrote a brief description of the picture)

If you have to edit, you can use a marker to "censor" the statements you want kept private...but it if were me, I'd probably avoid including these to keep things simple.

Copies of passport stamps/itineraries or anything with both your names on it. (We had a council tax bill) Do you have a receipt for an engagement ring or anything you could include?

As the previous poster said...you only need to provide proof of meeting within the last 2 years.

I don't think length of relationship matters a great deal. The UK is not a high fraud country. How long have you known each other?

Goodluck!

Brilliant, about a year or so, but well, when you know you know (we've not picked an engagement ring yet as she has thin fingers and we want to do it together, this annoys me since I wanted to be all gentlemanly and surprise her... DOH)

What program did you use to get your former Skype messages? Skype program won't allow me to view past the last 3 months.

There's a couple out there, but are you on Mac or PC? I've uploaded the Mac OS file which works perfectly for me, let us get huge call history information, right the way back to December last year when it all REALLY started accelerating. It's attached as a zip file, I found it on a skype forum, I didn't make it, if I find the original poster, I'll credit them oh and, sorry if posting files is against the rules, but to anyone that see's it, do the usual virus scan etc before you run!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSending Evidence
Hello Everyone.

I've begun collating all of the information we have for me and my fiancé to try and get the ball rolling. Thanks to some tools I've been able to download our entire skype call history, our entire skype chat history etc but I'm having a little trouble deciding how we should send this?

I need to edit out of a couple of things that I don't want in the chat history, nothing overly bad, but it's things I'd rather keep between me and her, certain conversations etc. But how do we submit this?

Originally I had thought about printing everything in triplicate, but our skype conversations amount to well over a thousand pages.... At this rate I'm going to be sending the immigration service a pallet of evidence if I do! Can we not just send it on a CD?

Also, is there a minimum length of a relationships that's preferable? I mean, we've known each other a while but I guess I'm worried someone at the IS will look at how long we've known each other and say 'No, this is fake'

Thanks!

Hi andie, you're right, I should have searched! Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespotential medical history issue
Hi all, another question, but something that I've seen that's worrying me rather badly while we do our research.

The medical information on the 'Classes of Aliens ineligible' page...

Basically, a couple of years ago, I was young and I was stupid and I attempted suicide, I went to the hospital, got the antidote, spent a whole night awake and throwing up and had an awakening, nothing I ever intend to do again i can assure you, and frankly the episode changed my life. The problem is, I have since, been on Anti depressants, not for suicidal thoughts but to control emotional states, (guess that's what I get for working in a call center that just got shut down for the way it treats it's staff)...

The page outlines that the alien is ineligible
(I) to have a physical or mental disorder and behavior associated with the disorder that may pose, or has posed, a threat to the property, safety, or welfare of the alien or other

or so on and so forth...

This is obviously in my medical history, and whilst I'm off the A'ds now and finding my lady has been another thing in a long line of things that has helped me off them, I'm a little scared that my medical history is going to ruin this completely.

Any thoughts or advice, welcome.

You will need a co-sponsor then unless you are planning to wait until she finds a job that pays enough to sponsor you.

.. and by the way.. Its been raining where I live in NZ for weeks now too. Its no fun !

No fun at all!

The frightening thing is I earn enough that she doesn't need to work... how unfortunate that it's THIS way around!

Are you the petitoner?then if you dn't make enough then you will need a co sponsor and you will need 134 for K1 interview and 864 for AOS

Thanks, Lor is the person in the states, I'm the one stuck in wet old england.

All this thanks to job losses and the market making it hard to find anything other than basic wages!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEarning Above the Poverty Line

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf (i-134 needs 100% for K1 visa, but when AOS you will need the i-184 and 125% amount or plan on getting a co sponsor)

Interesting, the i-134 is an Affidavit of support.... so is the i-184... (Lor is my Fiancé btw, Hi Boo!) so, we're likely to need to fill out both of these, once we marry and I apply for my SSN and AOS past the 90 day for the K1 ? or are we picking one of the other (slight confusion, probably all very clear but I'm being stupid to notice it)

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCost of living
All, my apologies for not responding sooner, the site didn't email me updates or at least, I thought I had told it to.

Thank you for all your advice, my partner wanted to get a stable permanent income anyway, but we've decided it's a major factor before going through the k1 visa process.

As for area, we're planning on just outside of Dallas, Texas since she lives none too far from this already.

Thank you all for the answers you've given me already, we're looking forward to it in any case, I think we're capable of affording everything, it's more just a point of 'knowing' so to speak,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCost of living
Hello all,

I know I haven't posted in a while but the good news is the fiancée sorted out her work situation (Sort of) but is working, well above the poverty line and we're now waiting for confirmation of her 'permanent' employment and then it's off to fill out a K1 visa! (I'm now loosing MY job in the UK, isn't that fun)

So, the one thing we wanted to work out was this.

Cost of living,

It's a somewhat vague question but... due to unemployment my partner had to move back in with her parents temporarily. Before that she was living in a 'flat share' arrangement with certain bills subsidised and then was in college before that. She has no real contacts to ask this question but obviously the moment we can, we're going to sort out her own place (Again) which will give us somewhere nice to call home when I get there,

Trouble is, neither of us really know what the actual cost of living is, water, gas electric, other utility bills, do you pay a monthly tax like the UK council tax, and what other bills we can expect (minus food). This sounds horrendously naive but I suppose I call it lucky for her being blessed with shared accommodation and subsidised bills.

So, can someone give me a rough outline? In the UK as you know I'm paying my normal bills, council tax etc, but what do you pay in the US? What's your typical outgoings and what can I expect to see!

Thanks!

I still have conflicting answers about change of address. Some say that provided you're still able to receive mail at the address it doesn't matter until you get to your status change, yet some say you need to be permanent at the address through the whole time. Can anyone give a clear answer?

I'm just back from visiting Jess (almost a week ago :( ) and got in with no problems at all. When I was asked the nature of my visit I said that I was going to see my fiancee and they let me on through.

Well, we sent it and yes we did frontload it a little with some proof of ongoing but only a few pages.

It was receieved at the Dallas lockbox this morning and ironically I leave the USA this afternoon.

Hopefully we will receieve something soon. We can only wait. We are both trying to work out what comes next and fully preparing ourselves for the AOS process as well.

We are both praying but hopefully the next time I am in the USA its at POE, she's coming to the uk at some point.

Congrats!

Did you enter the US on the VWP? If so, you can fill that in where it says "visa number" you can put "visa waiver program". But I assume you will be leaving to return to Wales so that doesn't really matter.

Sorry, can't help you with the skype logs but I can tell you to put your efforts towards primary evidence, not secondary like e-mails, skype, chats, etc. Focus on the time you've spent together, bording passes, passport stamps, etc.

Good luck

Thanks so much for that,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIt begins!
So we 'officially' proposed two days ago, the ring is here and her father hasn't shot me (yet) and we're now building the K1 package, but I've got a few questions that we're confused about.

Skype History - We have more calls than chats but obviously want to include a good mix of both. Trouble is we have one great big chat history file from Skype, and while we're trying to get a few chats out of that should we just do one for each month since we have calls and calls and calls to show we were communicating a lot?

How do we show the dates of the Skype chats as they just seem to give the times online in the official Skype application?

Also on the forms there is a part about "is your fianceé / fiancé in the country already?" Which, I am on a visitors visa. I don't have a visa number other than the stamp on the passport, so should we just leave that since it's a non immigrant visitor visa?

We've done a fair whack of work already and the Skype history is the last major hurdle for everything bar one or two photographs. We're hoping to file in the next day or so while I'm still here

Thanks a million guys!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo... my passport is about to expire

I don't think it will cause any problem. I renewed my passport a week after my fiance submitted our petition. Just keep your old passport with you.

We filed, and it was received today, however being sat in Toronto right now for my flight I've just noticed my passport is due to expire in December 2012. I'm the UK beneficiary.

It'll need to be renewed but will this cause a problem at all for us since there are some copies of my entry stamp visa in the old passport?

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP! I-134 I think we've made a mistake!

It's not needed until the interview in London. Get a new one from your fiance with more current income proofs around the time your NOA2 comes. Take the new one to hand over on interview day. Tick yes to #11.

Okay! thank god! and Thank you!

I have no idea why we thought to include the I-134 in the first package, but at least the one we screwed up wasn't "essential"...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan K-1 Visa applicant leave country?
If you are applying for a K1 then the advice is correct, you cannot leave the country until you file for Adjustment Of Status and the authorisation to travel document. The authorisation to travel is granted on approval and not when you file for it. This is usually granted fairly quickly (months) from what I've seen but if you don't do this you will be denied entry to the USA and you'll then need to get your new wife to apply for a spousal visa.

There are documented stories where people have left the USA for a honeymoon and found that they cannot re-enter the country, including one man who has waited a year or so for his wife to return to him.

Sorry. I am more than happy to be wrong on this, but this is all I've been able to find out.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo, what happens next?

There's one I-134 from her (USC sponsor) not you. The list was confusing because I said it was all your documents...but the form I-134 is hers. Letter from employer as you stated above is good for London. Nothing has to be notarized (except if somebody is taking a kid out of the UK). How about a tax return? Probably 2011 return will be done by your interview. That's two proofs and enough for London. With good income, you don't have to prove it four times.

Excellent, I think she's only going to have her 2011 Tax return.

I've just gone through a few things and her last job was so short lived that there never was a tax return done. So when it comes to AOS, she is ONLY going to have the 2011 Tax Return to offer them. Is this going to be a problem? As I've seen ont he forms it likes the last 3 years tax returns

Sorry for all the questions, we are simply trying to get ahead and prepared!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo, what happens next?
fantastic thank you. I'll get my passport replaced in the next few days and get my shots.

I assume based on your comment the I-134 is the USC one, Would a notarised letter from her employer stating she is full time, and earns XXX salary for her position and her start date be sufficient for one of the pieces of evidence?

As for the second piece, she receives her payslips via electronic means, so I'm wondering if it might be better to ask for a notarised copy of her bank statements for two months to show salary being paid in.

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSo, what happens next?
As far as I understand it, short of getting any RFE's. The next thing that happens is the NOA2, then I (as the beneficiary) receive a packet in the mail asking me to mail back some forms. I'm a tad confused, do I need to sned my bank records and financials with this? or is it literally biographical information, police check etc

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow far in Advance of receiving the NOA2 should I request things?
Me being me, I like to know whats coming up and what I need to prepare for, basically so I can fill out forms and gather information on my terms, but I'm a little dubious about gathering information BEFORE a NOA2 has even arrived, especially as we are months away.

Given my past medical history, I also need to get a letter from my GP explaining that I'm not a risk to myself or others (Something I've seen others have done) and get a police check.

Part of me is saying "Well, these documents are valid for about a year anyway" in the case of the police report, but should I actually wait until the NOA2 is issued or even when I receive my checklist? Are the consulate going to baulk at dates on things that were requested as far back as March when they only sent the document request in May or June? (or even later)

Obviously I want to get ahead and minimise the hassle and effort but I also want to be reasonably smart about it!

Any and all advice appriciated

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRegarding the I-134
Awesome, I think we've hit a crossover as we're looking at the AOS stuff now as well just so we can get as much prep as possible out of the way. I've prepared a statement and we've worked out exactly how much has and hasn't been earned. Again, thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRegarding the I-134
I think the other thing here is that she will only have one tax return when it comes to evidence for things like the k1 and especially AOS, as she was a student before so she wouldn't have three years of tax returns, so how do we proceed?

Great, looks like we will be adjusting the moment the visa is approved so POE will get the latest address and they will be informed during the interview that as soon as we're approved, she's going to go ahead and plonk down on a new apartment.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHOW DO U PUT EVERYTHING TOGETHER?
Electronic = Anything you've filled out on the computer to print off, make sure you keep it. The idea is that you can create an exact copy of what you send to USCIS, partly for when you get to NOA2 stage and partly because if the worst comes to the worst it's always good to have a backup!

One thing I would absolutely categorically stress here is to take your time. The process takes months to complete once you apply, an extra few days going over everything isn't going to make much of a difference! The guides on here are wonderful but there are others and I found it quite useful to google around since I'm the type that asks for second opinions all the time.

It might also help to go over things with a friend sat with you. The forms are daunting when you consider how much is at stake!

If you still have doubts, then don't worry. So long as you've taken your time and made sure everything is okay, you should be fine. When Lorie and I went to submit ours, I put the folder into the box and sealed it straight away. otherwise we knew we would constantly worry!

The three golden rules (for us)
1: Check and RE-CHECK everything
2: Take copies of EVERYTHING
3: Get organised, it'll help for NOA2 and AOS
