IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresconversation with an officer (Vermont)

Hello, Gande! Yes, my husband is Georgian, the matter of fact is: I , myself , am Georgian with some ukranian blood in me wacko.gif . Anyway, It's so nice to find you, guys, here! What form did you submit to CIS? I , actually, started the whole process in July (!!!) But , because of the "deep knowledge of the Immigration matter of my very smart attorney"(she submtted the wrong form..) , I officially, started everything in October. So, I have been waiting so long for my husband and 2 children, that live in Georgia. The smallest one is only 2 years old. Do you think I miss them? sad.gif I don't know how I am holding on , and , actually , everyone else...

Well Gamarjoba!

It sounds like you have a frustrating case. I can't believe your attorney filed the wrong form! What a waste of money and more importantly TIME! uhg.

It must be so hard to be without your family and children! When was the last time you saw them?

I am very very very lucky that I actually live in Georgia with my SO. He and I are planning to get married very soon and file DCF here at the embassy.. which is supposed to be faster in theory. But, as I am sure you know, nothing EVER moves quickly in Georgia, so I am a bit skeptical.

-Hello, it's been more then 6 months since I filed for my husband an I-130 form, could you, please, tell me the status of my case?
-O, unfortunetly, at this moment, we don't give any information about the status of the cases anymore. Please, call back the same number, then , when asked for you receipt number, don't enter it- and the costumer service representative will be with you.
- I am sorry, but I have tried that procedure before, and it didn't lead me anywhere, where I wanted to expedite my case... When have you stopped giving the information to the petioners about their case?
- Couple of months ago.
- I have spoken to one of the represantative last week, and was given an info, that my case is being viewed by an officer...
- O, we have a lot of new people right now... We are not supposed to give any information anymore... What' your case number?
- ............
-It is being review by an officer, as you were told last week. We can't give you anymore information at this point
- O'k, is the address updated in my file?
- Is it ..... ?
- yes, it is. ( made sure she really was looking at my file)
- Could you, please, tell me how long will it take for an officer to finish reviewing it?
- Sorry, can't tell you.But it's a good thing that your file is not on the shelf ,sitting there, but being reviewed . It's a good thing.
- Thank you
- Have a nice day!

blink.gif To be ( believe) or not to be(believe)- that is a question....

That sounds insanely frustrating! I am so sorry you aren't getting any useful information and you have been waiting so long. I don't really have any helpful advice, but I did want to say hi since it says you are filing for someone from Georgia! There are so few of us on here I think we should band together smile.gif

Is your husband Georgian?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAddress confusion for USC
QUOTE (lancer1655 @ Jan 24 2008, 12:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Gande hold fire! Do you have legal residency in your SO's country? I made the mistake of filing for a K1 when I could have done a DCF as I was in her country for 2 and half years on a work visa. If your willing to get married ASAP it would be faster probably to apply for a spouse visa directly with the US consulate in Georgia.

You might look in the DCF forum before making any decisions.

Oh I just got what you were saying. Yeah, on our embassy website it really doesnt look like there is any way to apply without going through the US. I think its probably because it is such a small country.... So i think DCF isn't an option here.

I do have legal residence here (in Georgia), but as far as I can tell the embassy here will not process a DCF. On their website they say that all fiancee visas must be filed in the US... But I will look into it further just to be sure! Thanks smile.gif

So just to double check. On the 129F it only asks for my address (not mailing address) but anyway on there I will write the address for my parents.

Thanks for the answers you guys!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAddress confusion for USC
Hi all! I am new here, but very excited to see all the helpful information available. Here is my situation:

I (the USC) live overseas where my SO lives and we are starting the application for a K-1. My drivers license is from RI and that is where I lived before moving here, however I no longer actually live there (no apartment or house there) and i have no intention of returning there when I move. On the forms, it asks only for my address (not specifically a mailing address). I want to put my address here (Republic of Georgia) so that it is clear when I am filing that I do not live in the US and live here with my SO (I figure that is going to come up when we need to prove the relationship and also when explaining why I don't make a US salary). However, the mail system here is not reliable at all, so I definitely do not want anyone mailing me my NOAs or anything else here. I would like to put down my parents' or my brother's address to receive mail, but neither are in states that I am a resident of. Is this something that will be a problem? On which forms should I put which addresses? Also, we have NO idea where we will be living after we get to the US. I am sure we will stay with my parents for a short time, but not long. Is it easy to change that address once we get there and get married and move out somewhere else?

Again, its so great to see a community of support for this awful application process.
