Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)A "not guilty" question
My impression was that the police record covered court records too, or am I wrong? He asked for the subject access form, they said that was the right one for visas. They set trial dates but the person accusing him never showed up so it was dismissed. So there are court records. We would never try to cover something up so based on the advice here, if any question says "have you ever been convicted?" he will say no. If it asks about being arrested or charged with something he will say yes and explain. Everything should be alright I hope. This seems like the right way to go, right?

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)A "not guilty" question
This might seem like a really stupid question and i'm not exactly sure if i'm posting in the right forum, but I bet you guys know the answer. Here's our situation; My fiance just got his UK police certificate back and it has a record of an incident he got into a few years ago. Someone he was having trouble with charged him with common assault to get him in trouble at his job. He was charged, went to court, the person never showed up. They rescheduled the court date three times and the person never showed up so they dismissed the charges. On his police record it says something like Common assault, not guilty, no evidence, charges dismissed. My question is how do we handle this on the forms. When it asks has he ever been convicted he says no right? Should he include a letter just explaining the circumstances? How exactly should we handle it? Bottom line should I be worried?(*praying* please say no) Thanks for any advice you can give.

United KingdomJust got our packet 4
Hopefully this is just the start of lots of interview dates for people. Andy called me this morning saying our packet 4 has come!! There's definately no telling how they give these interview days out. We sent in our packet 3 just before Christmas, it should have gotten to the Embassy on the 23rd. Maybe it got thrown on the top of someones desk before they ran out the door for Christmas holidays. Anyway, at least things are moving at the embassy, however strangely. Good Luck to everyone, hope your dates come soon!!
Mary.

United KingdomCost Of Medical Increased
Andy just had his medical yesterday and they charged him 160 pound but someone that went in just before him got charged 170. Maybe it had to do with when you made your appointment? I'm totally speculating. The weather made the trip down from Manchester a bit of a beast he said the train journey was about 5 hours each way instead of only 2 1/2.

United KingdomEver had a package to UK lost?
I think the collective power of people thinking about my package sped it along its journey! Andy called me to say that it arrived today! Better late than never i guess. I hope the UK to US service is a bit more reliable because I want Andy's mom to send us Jaffa Cakes and Bueno Bars :D

United KingdomEver had a package to UK lost?
i've had good luck so far with Global Priority Mail (sort of) i sent all the papers for our interview that way and i asked about 10 times if it was trackable and they assured me it was. Then when i went to track it the USPS website said they didnt recognize the number. That was a bit of a panic since it had the affidavit of support forms and all of that, everything arrived safely though so that was a HUGE relief. I'm thinking getting the tracking number is really more to make you feel better than to actually have much luck tracking your package. If the Christmas presents are well and truly lost i'll just tell Andy to tell his mom I got her a nice piece of jewelery. She need never know it was a bottle of lotion from Bath and Body Works  . What to get future your Mom in law for Christmas is a whole other issue. yikes!

United KingdomEver had a package to UK lost?
I'm a really bad fiancee that waited WAY too long to send out Christmas presents. I sent them on December 13, but was still told by the guy at the post office that it would take 4-10 days putting it there just in time for Christmas...that didn't happen. It's a month later and they've not arrived. So not only am I a bit dumb for waiting too long but I also threw away my customs slip because: 1. I didnt know there was a tracking number on there and 2. I was really busy doing my "I'm so smart, I procrastinated and will get away with it" dance so I had no time for thinking. So anyway, have any of you guys ever had packages really get lost? Is it maybe just on the slow boat to Manchester? It'll probably arrive THERE the day after Andy lands HERE. I think they took it to the Atlantic Ocean, put it on a raft and gave it a gentle nudge out to sea. Oh well, i've learned my lesson just curious to see if this has happened to anyone else.

United KingdomLONDON EMBASSY INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE MONDAY 12TH FEB 2007 !!
First and foremost make sure you book a decent hotel for staying down there, dont book with the Euston Square Hotel near Euston station, they charged me twice for the room(cash on the day and took it off my card,£65! cheeky monkeys!!). I travelled from manchester on the train to London and train fare was over £110. Anyways day of the interview i got there by taxi, that was £15 but i wanted to make sure i got there in one piece and on time. I must have checked all my documents a million times over prior to going but best be prepared thats all i can say. i queued up outside the Embassy and the line was growing. A person came to me and asked my name for they had a list of names for people who should be there. I was talking to Mary my sweet other half at the time, and my name wasnt on the list!! I got worried but i was told i was at a different part apparently PHEW! I had to show my appointment letter and passport to the outside security and was forwarded on to a little tent for a security check(they take phone, mp3 players, belts etc, but you get them back). You walk around the front of the Embassy and go round the side and up some steps though some double doors. You are greeted by someone who gives you 2 numbered stickers and checks your appointment letter, she was very polite i may add. You go in and then you wait till your number is called over the loudspeaker, bear in mind you could be there for a while so be warned, i waited around 15 mins. The room was pretty busy, you see "windows" like you do at banks down one side and the same down a corridor, i believe there was 24 or 25 in total. I was called to window 1 and was greeted by someone who looked like famous female chef Nancy Lam. I was asked for my birth certificate, avidavit of support and police check and any court records. PLEASE NOTE:::: I had a not guilty verdict and the case was dismissed and i got court records just in case, but i was STILL asked about it, so get COURT RECORDS REGARDLESS OF BEING NOT GUILTY!!! Anyways, i was given back my X-RAYS from the medical and given a courier form to fill in, then told to pay for the visa processing( was a $1.94 TO the £ on the day, so $100 was just over £51) Told to sit down again, one of the numbered stickers ws put on my passport byt he way. I ws called again after arpund 20 mins and had to go to window 24 and i was met by a very polite young american woman. She asked some questions which are as follows:
1: Did your girlfriend fill in the afidavit of support herself?
2:How many times have you met?
3:When did you last meet and for how long?
4:What is your girlfriends occupation?
5:What does that entail?
6:Whats your occupation?
7:What occupation do i plan to take in the U.S?
8:Explain what happened with the court case?
9:Have you made any travel arrangements?

I noticed she had a copy of the original forms you send in for the K1 visa, including the I 1-94 and all the biometric data etc. I was told to raise my right hand i swear i ws telling the truth ( i wouldnt be there if i wasnt would I? ). She said that the interview was done with and the Visa process was complete and told me to pay the courier at the front desk as you go in and she explained that i had to enetr the U.S within 6 months of recieveing the visa and 90 days to marry, asked me what area i was going to and said i'll reciev the visa in 2 to 3 days!! I payd the courier which is £13.50 and that was it, DONE! Was in there for about an hour maximum, didnt have to show any pics, phone bills or any other evidence of our relationship!! Got my stuff back, even though they lost my belt, so my jeans were falling down all around London that day haha, but i rang Mary and told her the good news and the feeling of elation is wonderful. Mary comes for me on the 6th march and we go back together on the 12th march! So i wish you all the very best of luck and best wishes and i hope everything goes as smooth for yourselves as it did for us. Remember be best prepeared document wise and keepcool in there & all will be good .. special thanks to those who posted replies to any queries we had and for your help and support.

Kind Regards,
Andy and Mary

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestime between NOA2 and NVC
Thankyou!! It's so funny how being in the same boat as other people makes you feel better. I'll try emailing and calling. At least then I feel like I'm doing something whether it helps or not.
Thanks again, you guys are great.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestime between NOA2 and NVC
I have to say that I have pretty much just been a lurker here but this site and these forums have been so helpful its unreal. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to post and share their knowledge, I couldn't have made it this far without you!

I really dont want to complain or be too worried because I know so many people have had to wait longer than me, but I guess I'm wondering when to start worrying. I got my NOA2 by snail mail with a Notice Date of November 1, 2006. I called the NVC today and they said they don't have it in their computer yet. The guy on the phone said it can take up to 90 days for the paperwork to get to the NVC and if it takes past 90 it might never get there. Is he just trying to freak me out? I know i'm still within the 4 week mark it says in the notice, so i guess I should just calm down. Sorry, I guess i just had to worry out loud a little bit.

Thanks again and good luck to everyone waiting!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice/Court records

 Thanks for that, i may be a little pushed though as my interview is next monday. Do i contact the local courts or go through the police to get a copy of them? Many thanks!! I feel such a pudding haha.

I don't know how it is in England. Maybe someone in the UK forum can help with that. For us, my fiance had a DUI in 1983 in Canada. He contacted the court that he went to then and requested a certified copy of the record.

Good luck!

Just to let everyone know you can go to the Court to get a copy of the record they have of the case and the cost was £25 , but this may differ in respective areas of the U.K. In my case because it was adjourned a few times it isnt recorded on the court file they have, so the only thing that came up that they had record of was that i was dismissed and no evidence found, least i have a piece of mind now and i can relax. Thanks for the help Autumnchick .

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice/Court records
Hi there all, I just would like to know if even though i have not been convicted of any crime it shows on my police check the appearance dates of court appearances and the disposition of a case. It was Dismissed and Not Guilty is the verdict due to lack of evidence. i am worrying myself silly over this, i cant see why they'd need a court record if you did nothing wrong at all, and i would be surprised even if they asked me about it. Any help would be grateful, i know my partner posted a bit ago about this and the response was that there shouldnt be any problems. Please someone set my mind at rest before i go crazy!! Thanks in advance !! Andy
