Thank you dwheels! If there is a substantial discrepancy between my 2012 & 2013 income that might raise a concern & then they could ask to see them? If my co-sponsor's income is more than sufficient I wonder the likelyhood they will look at my previous years?

Hello everyone!! I'm curious for those who have used a co-sponsor to support the necessary income guidelines, how thoroughly do they go thru your (the sponsor's) income? I'm submitting my 2013 tax return, will they ask for 2012 & 2011 or no because I'm supplying 3 years of tax returns for our co-sponsor. Thank you in advance!

No, we did not Counicoune. I wish, wish, wish I had an answer for you I feel so badly. I wonder if they know your husband applied for Canadian citizenship first & that has lengthened the process? Something has to explained soon. I pray you get approved this coming week!

Did everyone filled I-485 with the first packet? I wonder if it is what makes it so long :( I didnt file that because I obviously am not in the USA ...

Yes unfortunayely, the national goal for processing the NOA2 at the USCIS is 5 months & then the waiting begins all over again at the NVC so an additional 3-5 months or longer. Once your case is complete at the NVC it can take upwards to 6 months for your embassy to schedule an interview depending which embassy it is. Canadian embassy is scheduling about one month after the CC is received currently. There's no sure time frame for this process. It's case by case & things change constantly. I've been at the NVC 3 months now, hoping for a CC by November & then a December interview, but embassy's are closed a lot in December so probably January. That would mean 9 months total. Patience is key....good luck to you.

Hey everyone,

I'm just asking for confirmation: does the 5 months national goal for I-130 processing time announced on the website of USCIS only apply to the process at USCIS and not the total including NVC and Embassy?

At first I thought it was a total processing time and I didn't understand why it took 6 months to go through USCIS alone... Now I realize NVC may take 3 months starting from when the NVC case number is assigned and then 1 to 3 more months at the Embassy. This means 10 to 12 months total processing time. Is that correct?

My case number was assigned in July after only 12 days. Both my fees were paid together 6 days after that. I just don't want people to get their hopes up that once you make it to the NVC it's speedy. When you call the NVC they tell you everything takes 60 days to review. Again, I'm not being negative I'm just sharing my experience & the experience of others at the NVC. My case took off at the NVC at lightening speed & now it's just in limbo because of the 60 day review times it seems. Best of luck to everyone.

Well, you were only at USCIS for three months, which is rare and definitely not the norm. For those of us who waited 5 months or more at USCIS, NVC should be faster (unless exceptional cases with like two checklists or more). I have followed the NVC threads for a few months now and I know how long it's been taking, but I was actually referring to the changes after September 12. It used to take 20/30 days for NVC to assign a case number, for example, but my case took 9 days. Also AOS and IV fees are being invoiced about 7-10 days apart (for people that don't have a lawyer) when that used to take 50-60 days. We don't have any information on review times yet, but AOS and IV packages are now sent together. I'm not one to be overly optimistic and I'm not saying it will take one month, but things do seem to be speeding up.
I don't think NVC isn't working any faster then the USCIS unfortunately, they are so back logged. Everything submitted takes 60 days minimum just to review. We've been at the NVC 3 months & were only at USCIS 3 months total. There are many people who have been at the NVC since April who have not received their interview dates or even CC yet. When we were approved so quickly at USCIS I got my hopes up we'd have our case complete by October, but then they changed the processing time from 30 days to 60. I'm not being negative, just trying to be realistic & we all have to accept this process is long & out of our hands, sadly. ??

Hey counicoune (and the rest at VSC), I just saw this on the March filers thread http://www.visajourn...-filers/page-34 :/ apparently some poeple from the last week of March at VSC are also waiting still. :( NVC seems to be moving faster (maybe) but I think if this takes much longer you would have valid reasons to at least try to request an expedite at the NVC stage.

*iri*, I think all the cases from the first week of April at NSC were transferred to CSC, some people just didn't update their timelines. At least all the receipt numbers around mine were.

Thank you for apologizing. We all miss our loved ones & it's difficult indeed.

By the way heres the July I130 filers thread-

http://www.visajourn...30-july-filers/

I apologize if that's how you interpret my message. Basically I was just trying to be happy and positive despite of what people have been through instead of just add on to the stress and depression that's already on the table. I have no intention of making fun or laugh at anyone's situation as I have struggled about waiting too. I know my waiting time isn't that long (yet) like the others but I give you my word I do feel and understand how they are feeling. Anyhow if you find my post very offensive I apologize, and take responsibility for my actions. :)

Probably shouldn't be laughing here or trolling April filers for that matter. A lot of people here haven't been approved yet. This process is very sensitive & your post comes across as a bit rude & insensitive.

Well the expedite thingy was sooo over last year..hehehe  :joy:  :joy:  So I guess it's just really depends on the case...I dunno....hehehe

Really hoping you hear soon Counicoune! It's been far too long for you. We are waiting to see when we get the physical & interview scheduled. Both my husband has to fly to, opposite sides of the country. It's so much money & time & we have no idea when it wil happen. When they tell us we will just have to go, I try not to stress about it, but somedays I can't help it. I haven't seen my husband since February this year & won't again until our Montreal interview because we are saving all our money for those flights. (Plus he has to fly to Surrey BC for the physical before the interview). I guess today I'm having a rough day. I hope you are hanging in there! :)

Congratulations. Each step takes 60 days to review. I called today & my AOS was scanned on August 21 & they havent even looked at it yet she said they are working on early August scan dates right now. We've been at the NVC since July. The USCIS was speedy compared to the NVC, originally they said 30 days to review, but changed it to 60 because they are so backlogged. One operator told me they get "truck loads" of paperwork daily. Haha some of them can be quite insensitive when you call. I

So i just got off the phone with NVC they said they already have my case and they gave me the case number.....and the guy said they started working on my case yesterday.....so happy to hear it :joy: :joy: :joy:....i tried to check the status online didnt realize that i also need the IIN number which again i dont have. but im just glad to hear that they are actively working on our case

Congratulations. Here's a thorough outline in what to expect. It's grueling & long & they will send a welcome letter & email if you supplied your email addy.
http://www.visajourn..._6_-_IV_Package

Always check on the NVC site for changes though. Like now the AOS package & IV package must be mailsd together. Before they could be sent seprately. I sent them seperate and like 3 weeks later they changed it stating they MUST be mailed together or it will delay your case. Good luck!

So we just got approved yesterday. What's next? I noticed some people are saying to call the NVC in a couple wks for a case number. Will they mail the case number to me......with instructions on how/when to pay fees? Or does everyone have to call and get the case number. This is all so confusing. I really dont care to be calling NVC daily or anything. I guess my question is: Is there a letter that comes in the mail with the case number and instructions?
Hi! Having a lawyer doesn't make things quicker tbh, it's really a case by case thing so its hard & wrong to compare your case with another. I find myself doing it & I get upset (like today I saw someone with a last scan date of 9/12 & got a case complete, yet people are waiting since April scan dates for CC). So that's my advice, try not to compare your case with others.....but having a lawyer doesn't really speed things up. :) We've been at the NVC since July.

Hello Bossbear,

You mentioned 'both together only because we have a lawyer'. I wanted to know, does having a lawyer reduce the number of days at NVC?
I understand that if checklist etc. happens, then wait will obviously increase, but if we are continuing the same lawyer from I-130, does it reduce few days at DS-261 step or at any other step?

here's the outline of the NVC stage & what to expect exactly.

http://www.visajourn..._6_-_IV_Package

Here's the website you can check status, but only after you have your case number assigned by the NVC. It takes about a month to get it, but you can start calling after 14 days of your NOA2 approval if you want. Here's the NVC site:

https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx

quick question how did you find out about that your case was reiceved by NVC? did you get any notice or did you guys call to find out? my NOA2 was on 9/8......and also is there a way to check status of your case after its approved like on NVC website or something?

Congratulations! Welcome to the extremely long wait at the NVC. Our NOA2 was approved July 10, we've been at the NVC since July 21 & couldn't pay fees until August 12 (both together only because we have a lawyer) if you don't you have to wait & pay separately. All of our stuff is in now, last scan date for IV packet was September 23....it's 60 days to review from that date. We are praying for a case complete by November, but they are only working on August 7 as of today...that being said NVC wait is about 4-6 months without any checklists....then the physical & interview. I hoped my hubby would be here for the holidays but it doesn't appear so. Good luck everyone it's such a stressful, long process.

Hi, approval will show up on that page & you will also receive email & text message if you signed up for text message. As far as the BC here are the newest guidelines, they don't list certified copy as acceptable anymore, but you can call the NVC to check. This was a grey area for many, and I didn't want to send originals, but I am.

Good luck!

Birth Certificates
You (and any family members immigrating with you to the United States) must obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in your country of birth, showing your date of birth, place of birth, and parentage. Important Notice: All Immigrant Visa applicants must submit a long form original birth certificate. Short form birth certificates will not be accepted.

The certificate must contain the:

Your date of birth
Your place of birth
Names of both parents
Indication by the appropriate authority that it is an extract from the official records

Hi guys,

my wife's PD was Apr 1st and was transfered from NSC to CSC. I keep checking the USCIS's page and it still see this:

"The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office"

my question is: if my case was approved will it show up on that page or 1) we have to call to find out 2) wait for NOA2 in the mail?

Also, i currently have a certifed copy (with official stamp) of my wife's birth certificate will that be enough or do i need to send NVC the orignal?

Thanks!

Yes I called to get the case number. No idea when we will have our interview it depends if we receive check lists or not. We are praying by November. I've helped my lawyer a lot with the process, mostly by reading all the information I can. This link outlines the NVC stage & what's next:
http://travel.state....ed/contact.html

It's a lot, patience is key in this heart wrenching process.

Did you call NVC to have your case number?
What does AOS and IV stand for?
You have to wait for the packet to arrive in order to file DS-260?

You make me want to see a lawyer to get all that straight!

Thank you for your help :) When do you think you could get an interview?

There are many steps once your NOA2 is approved.
Here's the basic outline of our journey so far as April filers.
April 4th PD Vermont service center.
NOA2 Approval July 10.
NVC case number assigned August 6.
8-12 AOS & IV fees paid & posted as paid
8-20 AOS packet received
8-29 DS-260 filed, completed, submitted out online
Still have to mail in IV packet, waiting on receiving my husbands original BC he's mailing this week.
Each of the NVC steps are now taking 60 calendar days to process.
So we are stil waiting to hear about our AOS packet. If you thought waiting for USCIS was bad, wait until NVC. It's way more frustrating & just as slow, if not slower.

Congratulations to all the new April filers for their approvals! ??????

Oh dear... Gratz to all of you! My noa1 date is April 7th ... Hope it is coming next week! So what is the next step now?

i wouldn't mind it at all if they were picking up the speed and hiring some more peeps to speed up this process but that wont be the case......this wait kills :protest:

I understand so much what you are going through... My husband and I are apart since January, we could see each other during 3 days in May but he hasn't seen his son 1rst anniversary, nor his first steps or word... it tears my heart apart. I really try to have faith in the process but it is nerve wreaking to think that something could still go wrong. We Skype a lot... like a lot. It is definitely not an easy process we are all into. After the whole mess that was the process for Canada (and us just giving up) I just can hope for the best for USA. I know you understand... it is not natural and so hard to be away for so long from the man we decided to spend our life with...

Anyway... thank you for your words, I appreciate it a lot.

Oh and thank goodness for FaceTime / Skype. Just seeing his face calms me & eases me...then I remember why we are going through all of this.

Yes 5 months is the processing time for USCIS right now. Try not to lose sleep it will drive you crazy. It's best not to compare your case with others because that will make you disappointed. Realize we are all going through it & although it's challenging it's out of our control. The thing you can control is your response to it. Easier said then done, but trust the process & it might make it a bit easier. I cried today because I miss my husband so much & haven't seen him since February & won't until our interview which won't be until December probably, but we have to ride it out. There's nothing else we can do.

Keep the faith the processing time is 5 months. It's only been 4 & you have to factor in business days. Stay positive, it's the key to this process.

I feel my papers are never gonna happen. It's gonna be 4 months in 3 days... what if something went wrong? what if they lost our file? Why didn't we hear something yet :( I am so stressed over the possibility that our case is denied...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 sponsor proof of income?
Hello everyone, I'm new here & trying to navigate still. I'm hoping to get some insight to a few questions I have. In regards to sponsoring & income, I was told I need to show $24,000 annually. For those who have had to use co-sponsors could this be a friend who lives out of state from you or do they have to live in the same state? The next question is about the physical. I was told it had to be done in Canada, Vancouver only specifically, but an immigration lawyer told me the physical can be done here after my fiancé arrives. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 vs K3
Does the CR1 visa still require an interview in Montreal for my Canadian spouse? The K3 visa does. We'd like the interview to be in the US if possible. Which do you think is a better option? The CR1 because he can work right away or K3? We aren't concerned about the visiting in between processing times. Any advice or experience with this is greatly appreciated! We have read the differences on the main board, we would like to hear personal experiences. :) thanks again. ~Lanie

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCommon law marriage requires divorce?
Thank you Hypnos, I meant an affidavit, the form to file for divorce is asking for a marriage certificate. I don't have one. Silly RI only one of 9 states that recognize CL marriage.
