33. Do You Intend To Study in The U.S.

I plan on finding employment for the first year or two whilst we get settled and my AOS comes though, but after this time I plan on going to a community college then onto a university for Civil Engineering.

Do I answer Yes to this question and add an explanation of my plans with the area for the address? Same with 32. Do You Intend To Work in The U.S, should I simply put Yes and "Employer Unknown".


Final question, my parents will be travelling with me but on I-94Ws. 34. Names and Relationships of Persons Traveling With You , I presume I answer this as No, because they will be going through immigration as their own party and I will be going through alone.

Also, to avoid posting another thread today; I read somewhere that if I need a co-sponsor, they will need to file another form to the petitioner's I-134. Any advice about this?

Another question about the packet 3 I received today.

I have my vaccination record, a US passport picture and my case number from the letter I received from the embassy.

My question is, is it OK to book the medical now (seeing as the results last 12 months), before I have had further correspondence with the embassy Re: the packet 3 forms and so forth (though I shall be mailing those tomorrow). I really need to manage my time well with exams coming up in just over a month and won't have much time to travel down to london then, so I would like the medical out of the way as soon as possible.

Might seem like a stupid question, but on the DS-156 just below the barcode, there is a space for a photo which says to glue or staple one there.

It might seem a little silly but in the rush I forgot to ask about this yesterday and had my package together in a sealed envelope but it just struck me to open it again.

Do I definitely need to have a picture glued to this, or can I get away sending the forms as is and not risk an RFE?

Here's the situation:

About a year ago we moved into a different rental that was just a few away from our old one. We still got mail at the old address and everyone knows us, so I forgot to mail in an update AR-11 and I-865 for the new address.

It's coming time to file my I-751 in a couple of weeks and want to know what is best to do about updating our address. Obviously, my physical address and preferred mailing address is our current number. Will there be any trouble having such an old "effective date of change" on the address change forms? I don't want to lie about when we moved, because we have old documents with our new address.

What are the dates on your new card?
Is it the first time when you received your 2 year card or when they approved your 10 year card?

Not the cheapest but very affordable (£5 / $5), you take a picture of yourself against a clear background and their system resizes it and they check it manually against the guidelines both before and after it's printed, then mail a set of 3 to you.

Obviously you will have had your first set already taken, just wanted to throw out another option for those people who didn't know it existed and paid far too much for them. I'm glad I found the site, professional photographer was charging £60 per set.

Congrats on passing the test, so many people in the USA will blow it off and say it's not a big thing but it is for us UK types, I passed mine just over 9 months ago. Word of advice - look up the DMV of the state you're moving to. Some states (NC in my case) will let tourists without intent to migrate drive on their own foreign license (in our case, the card and paper counterpart, with or without the International Drivers Permit), but you cannot use it if you intent to become a resident and must take the local test and get a local license before you can drive there. Bummer for me.

I was just poking around the London embassy site looking for information about the Medical because I wasn't really sure, I come shocked to find that it comes with a £180 fee (mellow.gif) and can only be done in one of 2 offices in London. Traveling to London is a long and arduous process in itself, but I did find the following in the Emabssy's literature about the Medical:

Don’t worry. You should still keep the visa appointment and, once the medical has been completed, the results will be delivered directly to the Embassy. When they have been received, the Embassy will contact you concerning the next steps that you are required to take.


Would it be ok to simply arrange the interview within a day of each other to avoid 2 seperate trips to the capital? Or would the folks at the Embassy need a "good" reason for me not to have the Medical enough time beforehand?

Just hopping along to add my name to the December VSC Filers, the wait's starting to get really unbearable now and so I had a poke around on here and found this thread - great news on December filers receiving NOA2s already!

Package Mailed: 26/12/08
NOA1: 30/12/08

Also, as far as I am aware my US sponsor didn't recieve an email copy of the NOA1, does this mean they have an incorrect email address for her and this should be corrected, or is it just one of those things? Is it possible something important could get mislayed with them attempting to send messages to an address we cannot reach?

Been thinking some more lately, and have just a few more questions, and rather than posting a new topic i figured i'd just put them on the end of here and hope someone bothers to look:

- I now know that I need the I-134 my interview, and I have 2 further questions on that subject:
1. I presume it means that I need to have the forms mailed to me in order for me to present them at the interview, as they obviously have to be filled out and notarized by my sponsors in the USA?
2. How do I go around getting my fiancée's father as a co-sponsor? Does he just fill out another I-134 like her stating the same information (but relative to his income and possessions)?

- When in the timeline do I apply for my SSN, and how?

That's exactly what we're thinking sara, we're waiting so that it completely removes that factor. It's certainly not a good idea to give them a reason to decline upon submission; especially such an obvious one.

So we're waiting to mail it on 2nd Dec, my birthday, and hopefully everything should go smooth from then.

That's a great site YuAndDan, I would never have known there was a notary close to me (I live in *the middle of nowhere*, lol..). We're going to wait til my birthday, which happens to be a monday so my present will be my fiancée taking the nicely prepared package to be posted. This also helps to keep costs down as I'm pretty sure notaries won't be low-cost, and with the exchange rate as it is, a little all of a sudden becomes a lot.

Thanks again YuandDan, and i'm well aware the US Sponsor files it. I think we're going to hold back until my birthday now just incase they decide to decline us. That way it gives us more time to gather the right sort of info in the right format and reduce the risk of getting an "RFE".

Shannon + Nick: I think i'm going to hold back on the I-134 as to give more time for that to be worked out, if we get notified as to be needing it i don't see why we couldn't get a few done pretty shaprish. I specifically held back until now becasue i've been looking at the processing times and the fact that the visa lasts for 6 months from issue so that I still have enough time to finish my school and hopefully travel before the end of June becasue travel prices double as of July, not that Love isn't worth the world, but when you're starting off a new life in a new country I can imagine every little helps.

YuAndDan: From that website: "Applicants 16 and 17 must present a consent form signed by the parent, individual, agency or institution having legal custody or serving as the legal guardian of the underage party. (birth certificate is also required)", sponsor is in NC so that should apply. The problem I have now is what consent form, and how to have it "notarized"?

Thanks for the quick reply, the thing about me age is that as far as I am aware, in places you are not allowed to marry under 18 without parental consent. I'd defend myself by saying that I will be far gone 18 by the time I could travel, but rules are rules.

Here goes;

I'm a month short of my 18th birthday, here in the UK finishing my last year of college and about to start jostling with paperwork for my K-1. I'm finding new things cropping up here and there and new fees etc, I figured rather than going alone i'd enlist the support of such a great community of people who have been there and know what they're talking about.

Our Situation
- The fact is i'm still 17 (even if only for a few more weeks) and I have my doubts as to whether or not that on it's own will simply cause a problem
- My Fiancée (22 years old) has had trouble with employment over the past year, but over the past 6 months or so has kept the same job and the employer seems a lot fairer than the others hence she is likely to stay there and be promoted. But still, she will have trouble proving the 125% income requirement for the affidavit.
- I need to finish my college this year in order to progress into further education a few years down the line when things get settled; so I can't travel to the US until atleast 20th June 09.

Here's where we are so far:
- We're filling out the I-129F, a G-325A (each)
- We're getting two passport photos each this week
- We're gathering evidence such as plane tickets / passport scans / photos of us together (shame I couldn't fit the 24x36" poster of us together that I made her for christmas in the mail) etc..
- We've looked through the I-134 Affidavit and are quite unsure about how she should prove her recent income as she has no bank account, but has pretty much all of her pay stubs.

Basically, we'll have no problem proving we have a genuine relationship and that we've been together in the past 2 years (1 week in oct 07, 3 weeks in march 08 and 7 weeks July/aug 08), it's jsut the paperwork that's getting me nervous and worried, I just don't want to have forgotten anything. I know we'll probably have to enlist her father as a co-sponsor for the affidavit, does this need to be done and sent with the I-129F or after an NOA?

I hope that makes sense - I'm just looking for guidance and someone to say we're on track,
