Ah, it seems to long ago. Yet it was only two and a half years ago. :clock: But as I recall, our 129F petition was approved a couple of days earlier than predicted.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat do we put on the 340$ check?!

While VJ forums and procedures may say to do something, please remember forum and sites like VJ although informative should only be used as guide and a place to gather information and hear from others what worked for them.  But just because it worked for them does mean it is the official procedure.

I read over the USCIS payment instructions several times and no where does it say you must have you address, phone number and such on it. THAT IS INCORRECT, SEE RED HIGHLIGHTED STATEMENT BELOW IN THIS QUOTE.

Whenever I get an official check for anything, I always note in the "Note Section" my name and what it is for,

ex.

Samuel J. Adams

I-129f application

I put in this information so incase my check gets separated from my packet somehow it helps the reviewer re-connect what it is for and supposed to be attached.

USCIS Check Instructions

Customers that require payment for the services they are requesting are advised to follow the instructions below to ensure that their application will be filed correctly.

Check-Image2.jpg

If you are paying your fees by check, please be aware of the following:

  • Electronic Deposit of Checks ? If you are paying your fees by check to the cashier, we will convert your check into an electronic fund transfer.  When you hand your signed check to the cashier, we will scan your check and retain it.  We will then use the account information from your check to make an electronic fund transfer from your checking account for the amount of the check.
  • Insufficient Funds ? Please note that the electronic fund transfer from your account can occur faster than normal processing of a paper check.  If we cannot complete the electronic fund transfer because your account has insufficient funds, we will try to make the transfer up to two more times.  If your account still lacks sufficient funds, you will be billed the original check amount and a one-time administrative fee by USCIS.
  • Authorization ? By presenting your check to the cashier, you authorize USCIS to convert your check into an electronic fund transfer.  If the transfer cannot occur for technical reasons, you authorize us to process the copy of your original check through normal paper check procedures.

Please Note
Personal checks must be pre-printed with the name of the bank and the account holder. Also, the account holder?s address and phone number must be pre-printed, typed or written in ink on the check. All checks must be typed or written in ink.

  1. Write the date you are filling out the check including:  day, month and year.
  2. On the "Pay to the Order of" line write:  "U.S. Department of Homeland Security."
  3. Write in numbers the exact dollar amount of the fee for the service you are requesting.  In the example, the amount is "$595.00."
  4. Spell out the exact dollar amount of the fee for the service you are requesting.  The "cents" portion of the amount should be written as a fraction over 100.  In this example, the amount is "Five hundred ninety-five and 00/100."
  5. Write a brief description of the purpose of your payment.  In this example, it is "N-400 application fee."
  6. Sign the check using your legal signature.

Please review the USCIS text you provided.

Welcome to the forum.

It is pure speculation to comment on the substance of the RFE letter without the benefit of actually viewing the letter. You have to wait for the actual RFE letter to find out their specific request. When you receive the actual RFE letter, respond to it thoroughly and promptly.

It is of little consequence, provide them with what they want if you want to proceed on your immigration journey. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWedding in April 1st NOA recieved yesterday

You can call your ceremony whatever you like. Do a forum search of threads, there are reports of folks who have had "pre-marital ceremonies" applying for a K-1 visa, making it to the embassy/consulate interview phase of the process. Only to be denied a fiancee K-1 visa due to the CO determining that they were already married and ineligible for a fiancee visa. Their option then is to start all over with the spousal visa process.

You can try to succeed where few have had success with similar expedite scheme. Here are the criteria: http://www.uscis.gov...pedite-criteria

Good luck on your visa journey.

YMMV

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWedding in April 1st NOA recieved yesterday

Welcome to the forum.

The general forum recommendation is to NOT make ANY non-refundable/non-changeable reservations/plans/commitments without having your passport in your hand with the visa inside. There are far too many variables in the visa process that may detour or delay the best made plans.

Many people opt for a simple courthouse wedding in the US. Then after starting the AOS process, obtain AP document and go back home for family ceremony.

YMMV.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Welcome to the forum.

Indeed government immigration-speak can be hard to interpret, though it s no riddle. Better get acquainted with it, because you signed up for the opportunity to experience it first-hand.

Check out the link that KayDeeCee provided. Additionally, review the VJ Flowchart for an idea of how things usually work. That can be found in the Guides section, easily accessible at the top of the forum page: http://www.visajourn.../content/k1flow

Good luck on your immigration journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice certificate from the US??

NO you don't.

No you never need a police check from the USA.

The USCIS and the NVC do their own police checks (aka FBI checks).

You do NOT need a police check from the USA.

As was stated in this thread several times, you do not get police certificates from the US. Not sure what you are filing for after living in the US for 2 years already, but the police certificates are needed for visa interviews, such as the K-1(this thread is posted in the K-1 forum) and spousal visas. Police certificates are needed for anyplace you resided, other than the US, since the age of 16.

http://travel.state....ance-k-1.html#6

Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)

http://travel.state....mit-to-nvc.html

Note: Present and former residents of the United States need NOT obtain any U.S. police certificates

Just to re-re-confirm what my illustrious colleagues have stated so well.
